With our budget, we have to work primarily through our system, making savvy trades, and finding potential on discards. We've done a great job of it so far. But it would be nice to just buy a couple of really good hitters for this squad.

So, I don't want to be overly optimistic, but Chourio is still just at the surface of his potential, and Made has a chance at being a better hitter than anyone else on the roster currently.   There's a decent chance that those guys will be on the roster together for 5 seasons.

You got it!

My favorite was the MVP. Zolio Versalles.

Mudcat Grant and Jim Kaat big names too.

I might be able to name the 2011 Brewers better than the 2018 ones, mostly because of the bullpen and more established rotation.

Don Mincher and Jimmie Hall as well? Was Gaylord's brother on that team too?

In 56 years of closely following this team, I don’t recall an entire team going ice cold offensively at the same time

Not when it mattered.  There were years where it happened, particularly late in the year, but the competitive portion of their season were long over by then.

Not sure about Perry's brother. But the other two were! The MIL's favorite was Bob Allison. They talked a lot about games at the Met in Bloomington. Believe the Mall of America is on that site now.

The Dodger pitching had something to do with it.

No team in 56 years has had a smaller payroll than the Brewers or something?

Hate that the offense went in the freezer and theyre just not competitive....but honest question - if the ALCS winner doesnt do much better against this rotation in the World Series (and I dont think they will if they pitch like this again), will that be enough for the rest of MLB to realize what needs to happen to the economic system to make things even reasonably competitive?

Ohtani is getting paid $2m this season in order for the Dodgers to have Yamamoto, Snell, and Glasnow on this team right now

We’re in the playoffs. One of the last 4 team still playing. I’d rather have this than what we experienced in 2002. Just saying.

Couldn't agree more.  I was 17 years old when I first saw a winning season.  Making the wild card in 2008 felt like a miracle.  Four division championships in five years seemed like a pipe dream back then.

Were you around in April/May this year?  Thats what this feels like

Another nice outing for Patrick.  Sure hope this looks him in the starting rotation next year.  He certainly earned it.

Do you think the increased velocity and the newly adopted slurve might play up out of the bullpen? Seems like that has made Patrick more dominant as a reliever, since it also gave more differentiation between his pitches (sinker, cutter, slurve) in shape and speed. Don’t know if that’s sustainable in 5/6-inning outings. Worth trying, but he might have a role as a backend reliever, possibly taking the setup role.

The problem with the 97 win brewers in this series is the guys we spend money on like Hoskins Yelich woodruff are nowhere to be found.   Somehow we have to do a better job when we do spend the money.   Does that mean Contreras, Peralta.   I don’t know.

The real problem is when they spend money they spend it like idiots 27 million for yelich after he broke his kneecap not to mention his nagging back pain his whole career all the while he had atleast 2 years left on his deal when they signed that extension 17.5 million to woodruff to rehab with a blown out shoulder that almost nobody has came back from with great success 34 million for hoskins off a blown acl signing a 32 year old cain for 5 years what did we give wade mileys old ass last year 8 mil it just never ends with stupid decisions

Doubt it.  I don’t see there ever being a salary cap. The union won’t ever allow it.

Almost a statistical impossibility that the Brewers could have been as bad as the Brewers.  This will be a feat unlikely to ever be repeated.

I saw winning seasons earlier in my life, as I was a very young fan in the early 80’s. But I lived through the mid 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s.

That's why Collins isn't playing. 8 ABs and 6 whiffs. Turang looks like he's just mailing it in. He too has sucked horribly this series.

I guarantee you that Turang isn't mailing it in.  He's a guy who either by nature or experience has determined that not showing emotion or allowing himself get caught up emotionally in his success or failure is part of what keeps him in his process and maximize his chances of success.  That it doesn't work over a small sample doesn't mean he doesn't care.  It's tough.  Baseball is hard.  And reacting emotionally to failure typically results in more failure, unlike some other sports.

Some, yes.  They aren't nearly as unhittable as the Brewers have made them look.  (Outside of Snell in game 1.  That was an obscene pitching performance.)

Is anybody's pitching three runs, 10-104 (.096) BA through four games good?

EDIT: 10-107 (,093)
