Very nice night for one 1B Luke Adams as the sole Brewer representative in an 8-0 shutout victory over Salt River:

2-for-3, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K, 2 SB (4 in the AFL season)

After 51 AFL AB's Adams is hitting 0.333 with a 1.040 OPS (8th in the AFL - Adamczewski is 11th at 0.955).

The Saguaros (15-8) remain 2.0 GB of first place Scottsdale

Is Eduardo Garcia still part of the organization- I guess technically yes, but can be a milb free agent correct?

He qualified for ML Free Agency. yes, SO, technically he is in FA limbo until we hear what he has decided to do. He may have an offer from the Brewers he is considering. He may opt to sign with another club. At this juncture, we don't know.

Surprise just poured on a 6-spot in their bottom half of the 7th. They now lead 11-2. Adamczewski is back at 2B and back in a clean-up role. Heck of a night so far (it looks like he'll get one more AB): 1-for-1, 1 2B, 4 R, 3 BB. With such impeccable on base work, Josh's OPS is back above 1.000 at 1.010. The only other Brewer who has played so far through 7 frames is LHP Anthony Flores who pitched a scoreless 1 H, 1 BB, and 1 K frame. With a Scottsdale loss, assuming Surprise holds on here, the Saguaros will move back within 1.0 G of first place.

Now that he's re-signed with the Brewers, we can start following Eduardo Garcia's Dominican League performances, made easier in that he shares box scores with Lara teammate Jeferson Quero

Garcia's line is within his Baseball Reference page, and other than being 1-for-4 in SB attempts, he's doing fine. He has started 11 games at short, and two at third.

We've been touting Quero's remarkable work, though it's safe to say Friday wasn't a great night. Not only at the plate, but in the SB against mark - darn, not getting help from his pitchers. Get 'em tonight, Jeferson!

Luke Adams had 3 or 5 homers in the AFL derby, depending which tweet or article you read. Tony Blanco Jr. of the Pirates was the winner.

Sunday Winter Leagues -

Carlos Rodriguez' 4th start not his best - 3.2 IP, 4 H (including two HR's and a double), 3 R, 2 BB, 3 K, WP, HBP. He was aided by his following reliever, who stranded two runners.

New 40-man LHP Sammy Peralta allowed a solo HR in his two-thirds of an inning in the same game, on the other side of the box.

Jeferson Quero walked twice as the DH in his team's 6-3 loss, while teammate Eduardo Garcia singled and walked, but had a tough day on both the basepaths and in the field at short, as the box will show.

I didn't 'hate' the trade either, but at the time I wished we could've gotten Jansen for a lotto tic or two rather than giving up Areinamo. I suppose the glut of MINF in the organization made it more palatable. Still.........

It seems to be too much to give up for Jansen in hindsight, but if Contreras would have gone down, Jansen's value would've been all too obvious for a team with World Series aspirations. I'm sure the Brewers weren't the only team interested in Jansen. It's possible that the Brewers and Rays agree that Areinamo is a really valuable prospect, and that the Rays turned down seemingly "better" offers for Jansen in order to acquire Jadher.

After an All Star weekend, the AFL was back at it for a rare Monday slate. The Saguaros lost out on an opportunity to tie first place Scottsdale after losing 2-1 to Peoria in what appears to have been a planned 7-inning affair

The lone two Brewer representatives seeing live action were clean-up LF Josh Adamczewski (0-for-3, 2 K) and RHP Edwin Jimenez who pitched a relatively clean uber-efficient (10 pitches, 7 strikes) final inning: 1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 K, 0 R.

Surprise will be back at it to face Salt River tomorrow afternoon 3:30 MST.

Turns out that Sunday's outing was Rodriguez' last of the winter as his Dominican Winter League output was capped at 17 innings overall.

As this mini three-tweet "X" conversation shows, apparently MLB teams can only deny World Baseball Classic participation if a player had been on the 60-day injured list to end the year prior, so it's quite possible Rodriguez will take part for Nicaragua.

Strange that Luke was in the HR derby, but now back to not playing?

I don't know. Might be? No Brewers played today in Surprise's second consecutive loss and O'Rae also hasn't played since the All Star weekend.

Yerlin Rodriguez for Tiburones on Tuesday:

- K, K, HBP, BB, balk, HBP - 0.2 IP

His teammate stranded the 3 baserunners to help him out.

Kinda disappointed he couldn't find room for a wild pitch in there somewhere too. Oh well.

Robert Redford Nod GIF

Why stop at One? It's Yerlin we are chatting about here. I'm thinking, at the very least, pitch one should have either airmailed high and wide to the backstop or hooked 3' behind a lefty to the same backstop. To me, that is the sign his outing is going to be extremely picante.I love him like mi hijo! 😅
