Ashby warming with the Brewers down 3-0 when Woodford has thrown 1 out in the month of April is so on brand for Pat Murphy

I do have to say I really don't see what Matos brings to the roster that they don't already have.  Maybe someone can educate me.

Took a flier on a kid with raw talent. Maybe trying to see if they can catch lightning in a bottle on a post-hype guy like they did with Vaughn. Sample size is far too small to make a judgement but he has to start swinging at strikes and cut down the chase. Profile is very Ortiz like.

Murphy: (what did I forget to do today what did I forget to do today )… “ah yes! Burn Ashby’s arm in a loss.”

Murphy cracks me up.    They could off the throwing arm for one of his top half relievers and he will put him out there down four runs but if a hitter has a bad dream the night before we got to wait five weeks before he plays a simulated game or whatever

I remember when people were verbatim saying this about Durbin last year. He's a Top 30 prospect in our system. He's not some bum.

I’m not calling Drohan a bum, but I’d push back on the idea that a player being a top 30 prospect inherently means they have value.

Most top 30 prospects never amount to a hill of beans at the MLB level. Some go unselected in the rule 5 every year.

It's been a rough game, no doubt. But this team manages to stay in games. As bad as the pitching has been, it's only 3-0.

That's fair more or less across the board, particularly on the sample size.  It's the "Ortiz like" part I don't get.  We've got Perkins and Lockridge that provide better defense and a similar potential offensive profile on the roster already in the OF.  That's why I'm just not sure what he added/adds at this point.

It is hard to win on a regular basis in MLB down four preferred starters (Chourio, Vaughn, Turang, & Contreras). You can’t win everyday but the lineup today did not have a “win today” feel from the beginning. This looked more like a “I hope we can pull off a miracle” lineup & get out of here with another series win. Not sure why Contreras is out today with a day off tomorrow. Drohan looks talented but wild. Too many walks to win at this level.

I've held off on Brewers.TV or whatever. Almost cracked today as I love the day games, but I'll probably wait in the hopes they offer a deal at the midway point or something.

You just never know. Maybe Hook gets Drohan figured out and he becomes effective in time. His problem is clearly his lack of control. His stuff is good.

Ok. Let's see the New Ortiz, not the old.

Last two at bats he’s taken first pitch strikes in the middle of the zone & swung at balls outside the zone. I’ve been a strong Joey Ortiz supporter but good grief his at bats are hard to watch.

The new is just as bad if not worse than the old.

Ortiz and Matos cannot be long for this roster once Chourio is back healthy and one of the 85 brewer middle infield prospects in AA and AAA get off to a good start.

I can live with Ortiz in the lineup because of his defense....but at some point once you've got better all-around young players capable of being an asset offensively at SS, you've got to get Ortiz off this roster - especially because he's got minor league options left.
