I would guess that doesn't even count any of the differed spending that would be attributed to the season. Probably add on another 150 or so for that.

I'm not a big hard-salary cap guy, but I would like to see something like a 3-year window that caps Free Agent Spending over that span. Most of those Dodger guys could've received similar deals from other teams, so it's not like you're restricting total salary, but rather trying to more evenly distribute the top talent.

I think it's super interesting. Of course as a small market Brewers fan it's thumbs down from me, my opinion of the Dodgers is not really one of admiration.

I just wonder what they're thinking, if there's anything else behind their choice to spend and spend and spend. Are they trying to influence upcoming CBA negotiations? Are they worried teams will come after their revenues and force more sharing? Are they in favor of a salary cap or are they just trying to make hay before one is implemented? Not that I see a salary cap happening, in fact I think it's dead in the water before they've even jumped in the water. I just think the Dodgers doing what they're doing, outside of hating it as a baseball fan, is just really an interesting choice.

I'm a hard-cap and hard-floor guy but I see no reason MLB revenue couldn't be audited every few years to re-jigger the cap according to new revenue totals.

If the Brewers can't be in there, than I hope the Dodgers win the next eight WS in a row. It's the best thing to build enough momentum to actually fix this.

This isn't hard, just make them share their TV revenue. They make more than all 14 teams with local rights controlled by MLB combined.

It takes 2 teams to play a baseball game, why should they keep all the revenue unless they are scrimmaging against themselves?

I know this will never happen but if all the teams would demand 50% of the TV revenue or forfeit the game it would force LA to share all their revenue.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

If LA's overspending brings in a salary cap (and floor, or a good raise to the minimum wage), I'll be ok with it for this season.  Otherwise Dodger Stadium can slide into the ocean.
