I keep asking and you never answer. Why on earth would he not play every day? You have Chourio and Mitchell and Lara against righties and Chourio Lara and take your pick against lefties. Frelick and Mitchell should be in competition for ab. Lara plays easy if he gets the call. It's not like you're benching Acuna.

Simple. The fact that he hasn't been brought up tells you he wouldn't play every day.  Cuz if he would, he'd be here.

You seem to think I can give you an explanation for something that isn't my call. The Brewers answered it by leaving him in Nashville. You want him to come up here & play regularly. They don't feel the time is right. He isn't sitting at age 21. You probably think they're morons for not wanting to do that.

Me? I don't see him every day like the farm people do. I'll trust their call.

Thank you. I was going to allude to that but didn't want to start another raging inferno.

Again anytime I respond back to your snarky condescending takes is not an inferno. In fact you don't have to repond to anything i post. Just tired of listening to your Peter Gammons style commentary. Again you wading into a defense of Blake Perkins is a new low for you and nonsense. Looking back though it's alot of that in your takes. Just a reminder you don't know any more about baseball than I do. You get paid the same as I do to watch it. Stop taking yourself so seriously. Nobody else does.

Just because the Brewers don't do something doesn't mean it makes any sense. That's the whole point. You seem to be of the opinion well if they aren't doing it then it can't be done. Don't come to a message board questioning Matt Arnold winner of ...... zero world series championships. He's not perfect. It's perfectly fine to questioning the moves they do and don't make. More than fair.

Circa 2005 dark days?

I think the darkest days were back on the espn board before Brian started the new site.  When we were debating trading Mark Loretta (our captain) heading into the new stadium.

as much as I’m not a fan of MA… the WSP days were beyond dark

I 'member the ESPN chats but don't remember joining and posting on Brewerfan until 2005, or maybe even 2004. There was a feature article about JJ Hardy on the home page for the longest time.

We will never know what a 1999 trade of Mark Loretta could have brought back. 🙂

Maybe Calvin Pickering from Baltimore or Luke Prokopec from the Dodgers?

Instead, we later received Wayne Franklin and Keith Ginter from the Astros.

The Burnitz for Glendon Rusch trade was pretty bad.

Haven't heard those guys mentioned in a long time... But dark times indeed

A good excuse though to see how much the league has changed, Loretta's career OPS of .754 rated only an OPS+ of 98, but the same statline this year would be very comparable to JJ Wetherholt and come in at OPS+ of 119.

Or Jose Hernandez's career line is right there with Cody Clemens now

Junior Spivey is devastated that Perkins and Rengifo are still getting at bats.

Worried about Sproat‘s 6.00 era?  Don’t panic, we’ve got lescanic!

Back when we were young 😆

I think about all the time I spent in my 20s following the hapless Brewers…. I lurked for a long time when I didn’t have mental bandwidth to post…. Now gradually re-emerging with more independent kids.

i remember the JJ Hardy article… after bTa had to step away from the site.

I think a fair criticism of Murphy is Frelick’s OPS is barely above .600 yet he’s third on the team in PAs behind Turang and Contreras.

That is largely a function of Chourio, Vaughn, and Yelich being hurt for a good chunk of the season. Bauers has two fewer PA because they were still shielding him from LHP early in the year.

Sal has gotten the majority of his PA in the 7th spot (88), followed by 8th (46), and 6th (41), plus six games batting leadoff (30 PA), and one in the five hole (5 PA).

Nothing I've posted in this thread defends the play of Blake Perkins or his deserving of a roster spot. If you stopped making that mistake I wouldn't need to respond.

You did. You said it's a hard difficult decision. 😆

"Everyone is like well we couldn't cut Blake Perkins." That's what you posted. And I responded by saying that no one said that. Please show me where someone did.

And saying it's a 'hard difficult' decision as you put it isn't even close to the same thing as saying someone shouldn't be cut. There's a lot of options as to what they could do; people in this very thread have pointed some of them out. None of them are obvious. You yourself suggested two different options.

No, I'm of the opinion that if they aren't doing (whatever) then it doesn't make a lot of sense to beat your head against the wall constantly complaining about it. I've agreed with plenty of their moves over the years, and disagreed with others. And sometimes I'm proven wrong. I think criticism is great if it's constructive. This place would be boring without it.

No one is perfect. Not you, not me, and not Matt Arnold. Given the organization he leads I think he's been in the upper echelon though. Among GMs across baseball, where would you rank him?

At the end of the day, Blake Perkins will no longer be here. None of us know when; I suspect it'll be relatively soon.

OK. We agree. Brewers need to and should move on from Perkins. It is necessary so they can win games like last night by having a productive player in his spot. It is an easy thing to accomplish and they have more deserving options. Glad we were able to hash that out. 😀

Very nice!!

I just think the other options aren't all that easy to decide upon because the only one playing well is Lara & I get why they are reluctant to pull that trigger. But they may have to. And Lockridge is reported to go out on a rehab 'soon'.

Take care.

What about against RHP, the majority of P's?

We were talking about a specific situation - last night when Perkins PH for Frelick against Miller (LHP).

What I was responding to was the question about why Frelick wasn't left in to try to bunt against a LHP with a 13.0 K/9.
