The best offensively perhaps, Bauers has 2.6 fWAR, Miz has 5.4 fWAR and Turang has 4.2 fWAR. Chourio has 2.4 fWAR and he's missed a little time though their plate appearances aren't terribly far off, though Chourio is still behind by several games. A complete player is more than his bat.

No disagreement with the bolded, and I don't dispute that Miz and Turang are outstanding.

What I don't think gets accounted for in the stats (but I could be mistaken) is Bauers' ability to play OF allows the lineup to include him, Vaughn, and a DH in the same batting lineup (I'm assuming you don't want Vaughn playing 3B when Pratt returns).

Plus the clubhouse veteran leadership thing...

The whole QO thing may not even be around after the next CBA is hashed out.

Lots of horse trading to be done in the negotiations.

FWIW, the QO offer deadline is before the lockout begins on December 1. Brewers can offer it, and Bauers would have to accept/reject before then.

Because of this, would assume any change to the QO structure wouldn't take effect until after this coming offseason.

I suspect you and I agree about 99.9% about Jake, I'm just not going to say he's their best player.

I'm all for giving him the QO if he finishes the season as it has gone so far.  But if that's the case, he'll never accept it because someone will offer him a lucrative multi-year deal.  If he slumps badly down the stretch, I think the Brewers play it safe and let him walk away feeling like we already got the peak performance year in his career.

His baserunning is very under rated.  If he gets sent home on a close play, I feel confident that he will be safe.  He is faster than he looks and makes good decisions on the bases.

I'm also good with him being offered the QO.  If he accepts we could trade Vaughn (to offset QO salary) and use Luke Adams as depth.  If he doesn't accept we could keep Vaughn and use Adams or Burke as depth (or Fischer).

I saw a stat on MLB Network that he's the only player in baseball that's in the 95th percentile or higher in both Hard-Hit % and Chase %

Splitting hairs on terminology here -

I think Miz is the "most elite talent" on the club. Turang is the probably has been "best overall player". I still say Bauers is MVP, all things considered - his un-elite defense is why there's any hesitation, but the offense and the non-stats-based things make him extremely valuable to this particular club,

Regarding Rakes defense, I would agree that in the OF - he is a step down from all of our other options.  But when playing at 1B, he is at least above average. He has been one of my favs for a couple of years, even when he was struggling with the bat.  I did not see this type of year coming - but getting this type of production from a left handed bat that can play 3 different positions is great value.
