Good to get a close win in Cincinnati after a couple close losses in Atlanta. Didn't want to squander the excellent return start by Woodruff and using the A-Team Bullpen.

Feels like one of those games that went the Brewers' way quite frequently in 2025, which added up in the final standings.

A pitcher has to know where his infielders are positioned.

Oh I get that just saying that’s all reaction.  Damn near impossible to not try to field that ball.

Somehow appropriate that the two winning runs were scored without a hit.

That was a very disturbing game.  Somehow the Brewers remembered how to score runs in the 10th inning.   And Woodruff was really hurt all this time?  Paint me cynical.

Snell/Glasgow syndrome?

Our pitching is awesome. Thank goodness Kuhnel closed that out because I would not have been a happy camper if he blew a save there a day after Patrick threw 3 innings up 7 runs.

Very fitting that none of the runs scored in this game by either team were on a hit

To be fair, Patrick hasn't exactly had a good last two weeks.

He had two rough outings and has bounced back to have two really nice outings since then. I know he gave up the HR yesterday but I think he's put the issues behind him.

I don’t think Sproat has shown anything that says he’s a starter.  If my choices are starting or AAA, I’m definitely sending him down.  Wish we could take a Patrick type route with him

I don't trust his command enough for that kind of role. At some point, maybe. My preference right now is to try to get him from the 3-4 good innings-guy to 5, 5.1, 5.2.

I too would like to see him getting the ball every 5 days in Nashville; hopefully the rotation fleshes out enough for that to happen.

The Brewers had a -9 wRC+ today. The Reds had a -65 wRC+ today.

That -65 wRC+ from the Reds was the 3rd worst offensive performance of the season. The Phillies had a -79 wRC+ in Misiorowski's complete game and we had a -66 wRC+ against Skenes and the Pirates on 4/24.

If they lost a tough one late, I was all set for a "lost the battle but maybe won the war" post due to Woodruff's outing. But it's nice to win both. The command reminded me of how he looked last year after coming off the IL, and getting lathered up & eventually settling in at 93-94 was good to see.

When the Brewers lose a game & don't hit, the tendency is to trash the offense without giving the pitcher any credit. Tonite though, while Singer was obviously good I didn't think he was 7-shutout innings good. He was on the edges effectively but I thought we chased way too much, although that may have been partially fueled by Singer throwing 739 pitches right on the edges, not getting the call, and Stephenson challenging every. Damn. One.

Mitchell with a great AB in the 10th after falling behind in the count. Frelick with a perfect bunt, then Ortiz not trying to do too much. Kudos to him.

What are you saying, we buried Woodruff to limit his innings?  After Woody’s last time out I thought his career was done for sure.

I mean they didn’t remember how to score in the 10th per se they just did the advancing the baserunners and productive outs thing correctly. Which was enough.

That defensive play by Ortiz to end it was crazy good.  I absolutely hate it when he bats, and hate it when he makes his errors, but then he makes crazy plays like that.

still, it would be nice to have him as a “super sub” and not have to rely on him as a starter

I really think that would have been a completely different game if Mitchell hadn't chased 3-1 in the 2nd inning then looked at strike three the next pitch. I feel like Singer was ready to completely fall apart if Mitchell walked to load the bases.

Yoho should be above Kuhnel on the bullpen depth chart.

I've mostly liked the way Yoho has looked since the callup. But we know there's a 'trust' thing on this team and I'm not surprised Kuhnel was called on. It's the same mindset that kept Pratt in AAA maybe longer than some liked, and what's kept a couple of the people who contributed in the 10th from being thrown under the bus.

That, and Jett Williams hitting .219 lol.
