No blackouts my ass. So I'm at our cabin in northern WI, on the MN border. I have the Twins.TV package because I live in the Twin Cities. I also have MLB.TV. Can I watch the Twins and Brewers play while I'm here in a blackout zone for both the Twins and Brewers? Nooooooo, of course not! Apparently I'd need to buy BOTH a Brewers.TV and Twins.TV package.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

We're in the northwoods, full time transplants from that loony state. Last year was the first time I've ever bought a TV package. My son and wife are native MN, so have a Twins rooting interest. I bought the MLB.TV package so we could watch both teams. Ended up they couldn't watch the Twins, and I couldn't get the head to head matchup whether they were in MIL or MPLS. I gave up trying to figure it out. This year, I just bought the Brewers.TV. Can't remember if we were able to watch the MPLS series, but we do get their head to head in this series at MIL. Just plain stupid to make your customers work so hard to buy your product. In these cases, I just stay off social media and wait until the game is available for viewing after the live concludes. I have plenty of to do lists that need my attention anyway.

There's just no reason for this, and MLB was supposed to fix this BS. If someone has the .TV package for one of the teams, just let them watch the damn game no matter who they're playing.

If this is still the case with blackouts, it means Iowa is still a MESS for baseball fans. With six teams blacked out, having a .TV package will be of limited utility, as the six teams will constantly be playing one another.

The first year I have memories of MLB are 1986...pulling an Earnie Riles in my first ever pack of Topps, being confused why Teddy Higuera would have to hit against Fernando Valenzuela in the All Star Game when he didn't even hit in his own regular season games, watching that grounder go through Buckner's legs.

Turns out that was forty years ago now. In those forty years, 2026 Misio is one of 4,597 individual pitcher seasons of at least 120 IP. Some of his ranks on that leaderboard...

39 ERA- (4th)
Only 2000 Pedro and 94/95 Madduxes are better.

48 FIP- (t-6th to 9th)
Tied with 2000 Pedro, 2018 Sale, and 2022 Strider. 2021 Burnes is 2nd with a 38.

186 K%+ (18th)
Misio's raw 40.6 K% is #1 on the list, but when we account for the rising K rate over time he gets passed by fifteen different Randy, Nolan, and Pedro seasons plus 1988 Clemens and 1998 Wood.

.145 AVG and 60 AVG+ (both first)
Second place in raw batting average allowed is 2021 Peralta at .164, 2000 Pedro just behind at .166. Even accounting for the fact that is harder than ever to get hits Misio still holds down the top spot in AVG+ just ahead of 2000 Pedro at 61.

0.73 WHIP (2nd)
Just below 2016 Kershaw at 0.72 and just above 2000 Pedro at 0.74, the only three seasons in the sample below a 0.80 WHIP.

All of the above has been greatly facilitated by Misio reigning in his walk rate from an 11.4 BB% in 2025 down to a 6.0 BB% so far this year.

So great in the sense of directly comparable to the best seasons put up by the HOFers of the last 40 years... I can live with that.

I would expect a Sunday lineup filled with righties……Lockridge and Lara in the outfield….Gary catching.

Obviously less than ideal that Hamilton would have to play if Joey can’t.

Vaughn is starting at 3B, but Hamilton is still in the lineup lol.

Have to assume Ortiz just can’t go.

Right handed batters won’t pull the ball with Miz on the mound. Hopefully not many balls in play 🙂

How about a Luke Adams start at 3B if Ortiz goes IL?

Was planning a trip to Beloit today to see the T-Rats on the road, but the weather is just too skethcy to make a 5 hour total drive, so instead, I guess I will just have to be made to watch the MIZ start instead :)

I'd guess they go with Eduardo Garcia (better defense / positional versatility) if a move is needed.

This is a weird lineup.  Hamilton against a LHP?  Apparently there is a new rule that bunty must start every day.

EDIT:  Pratt’s early splits (small sample) against LHP have not been good, so I understand the Hamilton move

Pancakes just has to putz with the line-up.  I think he just likes to see how many different line-ups he can run out there during the season.  I think he keeps a spread sheet to make sure he hits all the different possibilities.

No Yelich must have just killed him.  Mitchell and Pratt with the day off.

Vaughn at 3B is interesting.  Makes sense with Miz pitching, doubtful he gets much action.

  1. Jackson Chourio (R) LF
  2. Brice Turang (L) 2B
  3. Andrew Vaughn (R) 3B
  4. William Contreras (R) DH
  5. Jake Bauers (L) 1B
  6. Luis Lara (S) RF
  7. Gary Sánchez (R) C
  8. Brandon Lockridge (R) CF
  9. David Hamilton (L) SS

Yeah, I'd have kept Pratt at SS and give Bunty a day off.  Pratt could get a day off in the near future.

Is Hamilton dating one of Pancakes adult daughters?

I'm not convinced his D is going to play at 3B in MLB.

That does create quite a logjam in the future with Fischer, Adams, and Burke all probably a 1B/DH type.  I wouldn't have been to surprised to see one of the 3 traded, and I guess that could still happen in the off season.

Fischer has to get a LOT better defensively if he wants to stick at 3B.
