Probably the latter, and hope Frelick and Pratt return and somehow can't miss.  The closest thing to a "ringer" in the minors is Luke Adams comes back from whatever he tweaked and doesn't miss a beat or Blake Burke just starts homering every other game.

Was just asking myself who is enjoyable to watch hit.  Like, Chourio was great for a week there.  I guess Bauers, maybe?  The pickings are slim.  Inept offense just can't keep me entertained.  At least losing games 9-7, you're feeling like the team has a chance to put up a few and pull out a win.

Nats are leading the Cubs 6-0 after 6.

As I’ve been saying this week, given their pitching, I won’t believe the Nats will beat the Cubs unless (1) they score at least 9 runs, or (2) the final out is recorded. 

Crow-Armstrong, who I refuse to call by his initials, just struck out after swinging and missing at a pitch that hit him.

Honesty I'd rather be in a slump now and figure it out and get hot for the playoffs. There's no way we don't get hot again. 

People who have been better before, need to be better again.

The guys the organization thought might be able to help this year--Pratt & Lara--started the year in AAA, which sort of gave away that thought process. Williams is hurt, Adams is hurt. Naylor will be here if a catcher goes down. I suppose if Burke mashes in Nashville like he did in AA & Yelich continues to struggle, they could suddenly find a ruptured rear axle or dismembered fender & IL Yelich. But in that event I think you'd see Frelick first.

You can’t compare how Dodgers fans react to how Brewers fans would react to a similar situation.

For Dodgers fans my age their biggest concern is whether their team might be putting in jeopardy the chance for the threepeat, and the 10th World Series championship in their lifetime.

Brewers fans my age are concerned that time is running out to get one World Series championship in their lifetime

Not to mention that, even with the veteran SP they have resting, they have a much deeper stable of veteran pitchers. 

Right now there is a lot of focus on the floundering Brewers offense. But there are also some question marks about how the pitching will hold up as pitchers hit their career highs in IP and the relievers are showing signs of wear from heavy use.

It sounds like Uribe is dealing with some kind of dead arm and with his velocity down in his last start I’m not going to be shocked if Harrison is having a recurrence of what put him on the IL

Yelich had already become problematic on the roster because he can’t hit anymore. The fact he also is incapable of playing in the field anymore makes his roster spot even more problematic. Gary Sanchez is starting at 1B not DH tonight because Yelich is a pure DH now.

Unreal with the infield injuries/tweaks all at the same time (Pratt/Ortiz/Turang).  Especially when you have them the same time as guys at AAA (Jett Williams and Luke Adams).

Yeah, the "didn't reveal anything SERIOUS" caught my attention too.

I mean, probably just a "long season" scenario. But not something you want to see. Again, the lack of off days and all the travel can't be good for lower body bumps and bruises.

This Field of Dreams game is pretty fun as we wait for the Brewers. Too bad the Twins aren't putting on a better showing.

I guess the question is "do we trust the guys who are supposed to be hitting to figure it out and start hitting again or do we trust an AAA bat or guy off the street to do so more?".. and I think the unsexy answer has to be that we trust our current guys to hit themselves out of this. If there is another answer I think we should be open to it .. I'm just not sure what that answer is. Maybe Adams. Maybe Baddoo. Maybe Burke. Maybe Jett.

I'm not sure there is an answer but the only chance I see is the normal starters at least getting back to average.

Cubs managed one hit today, an oppo bloop single.  

No offense on that team at all.  They're doomed if they even make it to the playoffs.
