If you click on subsequent dates in the linked scoreboard page, you'll see Gold plays again on Saturday, having then played all three teams in their four-team pod. It is suggested they win both today and tomorrow to have a chance to advance, not sure what the tiebreaker would be here:

As we provided in Monday night's Link Report:

"DSL Cup is a playoff format that will see 16 DSL clubs qualify for the two-stage DSL postseason. The eight DSL division winners (based on winning percentage) and the eight teams with the best winning percentage that did not win their division (Wild Card teams) will qualify for the postseason from the 51-team league (31.4% of the league's teams). In Pool Play, the sixteen teams will be divided into four pools of four teams each and will participate in a round-robin competition. The team with the best record in each pool will advance to the Championship Bracket, which will consist of two rounds (best-of-three Semifinal and Final Rounds)."

Thanks Mass.  I could have looked it up, but thanks for re-posting it. That makes sense.  I couldn't remember if a round robin, double eliminaiton etc.  The fact they called it game #2 is what threw me off, but game #2 of the pod I guess.

Said it yesterday too, but Josue Rodriguez closing the year on a tear.

Has three of his four total home runs in the last three games.

Has hit his second on the day.

Well over a 1.200 OPS this month.

This is random but I was thinking about Yophery today for some reason and I hadn't checked on him all summer. How do we feel about his season? .248/.320/.775. Hasn't hit lefties at all. Looks like April was v.good and then went into a tailspin for about 8 weeks before resurfacing lately.

Also, this was my first real check in on both Ragsdale and Frias post trade... they both have sputtered since leaving.

Who other than my young German Superheld, RHP Paul Hoff, to throw 5 frames of 1 unearned run ball in essentially a Must Win G2?
Love love love the season he is having.

DSL Mariners (2-0) took down the DSL Giants Black (1-1) 8-7. Another tight One. It would seem the Mariners vs. Brewers Gold game has the makings of being highly competitive. That's a must win for the Crew should they hope to Advance.

Do you know what the tiebreakers are if they win and the Giants beat Kansas City tomorrow? If it is run differential they would need to win by 4 runs.

Yeah, so if the Brewers win tomorrow AND the Giants Black lose...the Brewers will advance based on head-to-head. As you point to, however, if the Giants Black win and the Brewers Gold win they revert to standard MiLB post-season Group Play tiebreaker rules. Now, I'm certainly not an expert in this area but I think MiLB does not use the standard run differential as tiebreaker criteria in the post-season. I think what they would do, again I'm not sure this is entirely accurate (anyone who knows for sure please chime in) but this is how I understand it.

Some sort of this type of assessment would be used:

(1) In this case, we would have three clubs. SO it wouldn't be a head-to-head best record it would be best win percentage in games versus the two opposing clubs amongst the three teams

(2) IF there was a tie stop that scheme? Which of the tied teams had the best winning percentage over the final 20 Games of the season?

(3) IF still tied (improbably so) over 21 Games? 22 Games? etc. until a team came out on top.

As convoluted as that is (LOL), I do think that is how they'd go about it.

21-year old RHP Bishop Letson (4.66 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, 8.5 K/9 in 75.1 IP) has been limited to 50 and 51 pitches in his last 2 outings after a 3-week injury absence. He starts for Biloxi as they aim to tie the series at Rocket City. CF Braylon Payne is 5.-for-19 thru 5 games since promotion, though seeks his first AA homer.

19-year old RHP Tyler Renz is on a respectable 6-game run (3.13 ERA with 19 Ks in last 23 IP) and leads Low-A Wilson as they also strive to tie up their series at Salem. RF Jose Anderson’s slump continues (7-for-last-70 with 42 Ks). First round pick SS Trey Ebel looks to earn his first extra-base hit.

Well, nice to see Letson help re-establish that Shuckers pitching staff and get back in the swing of their recent 13-game streak.
