Hard to put into words how I'm feeling right now. On the one hand, the rational part of me knows that I have no control over the outcome. It also knows that sports belong to the category of the mostly unimportant things in life.

That said, I really believe that sports are the most important least important thing. Of all those things that don't really matter, sports are the most consequential.

Emotionally, I want this win to be able to say we've experienced everything there is to experience in baseball. I want the freedom that comes with watching your team win it all. I want the release from the fear that it will never happen and the ability to enjoy these games for what they are: games. Without finishing this off, there will always be a dark corner inside me that will be unable to stop putting existential meaning onto this. I have tried to fight that dark corner. I know it's silly that it exists. But it's there. And winning one more game can shine a light all over it and banish it forever. I don't care how stupid it sounds. Seeing this team win the World Series will make me a better, healthier person, even if it's only in smallish ways.

Is it wrong that I've let myself get to this point? Probably. But, at this point, and without help from this team, I don't know if I can control it.

If we can pull this off, I won't stop caring. I won't stop loving. But sports will never be the same, and I want to enter the world where they mean something with less pressure, something more joyful, something without the possibility of abject, torturous failure.

This is my last post until after the game. May it also be my last post from this side of title-less reality.

Go Crew!

I want this thing over ASAP.  I don’t want to give then any life.  Let’s finish this

I also think I can only tolerate one more game of Smoltz! If they win tonight do we know when the parade would be? I live in Maryland and my son (12) and I plan on flying to Milwaukee to take it in.

This never crossed my mind. Admittedly I've thought the letters from Uecker were a bit of an eye roll... But if Murphy is actually sitting on a real letter for this moment that would be something.

I believe Yount was in Tampa last night....do you think they'd have him read the letter if this was the case?

Was lucky enough to be at the game last night and was able to find the money to go tonight too.

My flight leaves tomorrow morning, and selfishly I’d love to see the clincher. Something I never would have dreamed of. But this team is magical and I’m so grateful either way.

Seize the moment Brewers. Immortalise yourselves into history that can never be erased.

You only win your first championship once. Let's make it tonight.

I have tickets to game 6 and wouldn't mind the Crew just finishing them off!

I'm conflicted.  I want the crew to win it all tonight but I don't want this glorious ride to end.

If the Brewers win tonight the glorious ride will never end. It'll be something we carry with us for the rest of our lives.

They're gonna run it back next year and we'll get the one thing we missed -- a clinch at home.

I personally saved this post for myself as a beautiful encapsulation of the beauty of that first experienced championship. I felt that way about the Packers in 1996, and the Bucks in 2021. ONE MORE GAME to experience that freedom ONE MORE TIME. Post of the year!

I see Andrew Vaughn is still in the doghouse.

Jax is much tougher on righties

For Jihwan Bae
For Joel Kuhnel
For Thomas Pannone
For Greg Jones

For Easton McGee (I have no recollection of this dude, but good for him)

and I guess for Lance McCullers Jr as well, at least he'll get something out of having his career ended as our roundabout way of getting a prospect that we liked.

Reminds me of the Rose Bowl in 1994.  My grandparents said that on New Year's Eve they drank the hotel bar completely dry by 9pm.

I like Smoltz.

he's ok. I think it's harder to fill time in baseball than other sports. gonna say some lame things once in a while
