Maybe he should realize that when I do a DNS lookup on all first-time posters and ban the ones that are using an anonymous proxy, his little "game" is up.

Are you going to make it a rule that new users cannot register via an anonymous proxy...?

And Brian... I'm not proud to say that I cannot understand "3133+ H4X0R!"

It's great, it's like whack-a-mole with threads.

You mean, whack-a-troll.

Is this like a virtual rumble between forum tribes or something? Do I need a Y chromosome to get it?

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

When I develop my own forum, I will.... but until then, ezboard logs all IP address. When any user posts, the IP is shown and can be reverse DNS'd, exposing the fact that it's an proxy'd IP (not that a simple Google search wouldn't reveal it on an anon proxy list as well).

Some phpBB modder made some code to do it automatically. I'll have to incorporate it into the custom software when we go that route.

I suppose I could just ban all anonymous proxy IP addresses... but then I'll get Hoffy harrassing me via email, telling me how he can't read the site so he can bash it over at JSOnline.

No, the summary is just that princebecomesking is a tad... bitter.

Rather than "whack-a-mole" he might just be looking for a place in the BF.Net pantheon.

Looks like he may have temporarily given it a rest for the evening.

Do we really need to worry about accommodating people banned from the site like 2 years ago?

I never understood that H0FFY claim. All the forums are open for reading without even logging in.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Thanks, but I don't need a Y chromosome to get that. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I guess I lack the fascination that many of you have for reading the train wreck threads over there.

Peavey, I think there's some kind of ban over there where posts will appear for a couple minutes and then delete themselves.

Yeah - as I said before, I don't understand it other than it seems to have some sort of massive-pileup-car-wreck draw to it. And yes, for some odd reason I'm a tad intrigued.

Looks like his account got deleted. That means he'll have to wait 24 hours before trolling again, by MLB.com's rules.

I suppose not... although I did unban hoffy's IP, so it's irrelevant now anyway.

Apparently, the deal is that if your IP is banned, you can't post OR read. I had no idea this was the case until I got an irate email out of the blue.... and it was especially weird because it came on a night where I hadn't banned any IP addresses. *shrug*

Right now on that other site, there are threads entitled...

"Bob Puker is a woman"

"Crack dealers at Miller Park"

"D.ouche Master BobMeister"...again, this is extremely clever

and of course...

"Ned Yost touches himself"

Stupid mods at this site with their rules and stuff....people should be allowed to just say what they want, what could go wrong?

you should ban everyone, then hold an essay contest to see which 20 posters get to be the founding members of bf.net 2.0

According to the deleted thread, we're only going to have only four posters, and sorry to say, pogo, you ain't one of them. It's going to be Brian, Russ, Al, and me. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I haven't laughed this much reading a thread over here in a long time, that was comedy after a long day. I'm just sorry I missed the threads...

I don't like the new format over there. It's even slow with roadrunner. The Cubs trolls have completely ruined it anyway. One, you can't have an actual serious discussion without them chiming in. Two, well, their choice of topics say it all.

I mean, really, don't you guys have a thread discussing Bob Euker's gender?http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Granted, it wasn't exactly layered with great thought but we weren't claiming it to be. I always thought it was just great fun.

He was "PrinceBecomesKing". But now, with the "simple use of a proxy" we'll never know who he is! He's lurking among us right now! Oh Noes! We're such loozers! PBK FTW!

It's like we are on Battlestar Galactica.

Thank you for this thread...I don't have a lot of time to post here, but I do read the boards when I can. Thank you for reminding me why I love this place.

In the future, if something like this ever happens again, brewers19 and I will have to remember how ridiculously easy it is on a Mac to take anything and save it as a PDF.

Although I get frustrated around here sometimes, this site is by far my favorite sports website. I don't know what I did before I found brewerfan.net. I am lost somedays without it.
