  1. Yeah the Reds are horrible but the Brewer better pick up at least a couple of wins here because the next few series after this will be tough.
  2. Won't Miley automatically get a few millions dollars guaranteed if called up? I guess that is my concern, if Miley is given a chance and he stinks it up will he be given a couple of months extra because of the money. If they go with Suter/Woodruff/Peralta/Burnes there is always another option if they don't like what they see.
  3. Certainly some truth to that. A couple of years ago they tried to give Sardinas a chance, saw what they had and got rid of him when they didn't like what they saw.
  4. He has an oblique strain so would certainly fit right in. The Orioles are messed up so have no idea what it would take but can't imagine it being Yelich-esque with only 1.5 years of control. Agree with Homer that he doesn't really fit the Stearns profile.
  5. My guess would be Suter to the pen and Woodruff to start but if they are doing that I'm not sure why they just didn't bring up a position player for a couple of games until Woodruff was needed to start. Edit: Oh I see the Brewers have off May 3rd and 7th so this can be a short stay for Woodruff until they need a fifth starter again.
  6. Could be both, will have a much clearer picture in a couple of months but I am expecting Villar's numbers to look pretty similar to where they are now which is not very good.
  7. If you are interested in trade trees look at Mark Loretta as that tree may live on forever. You could say the best pitcher (Anderson) and position player (Yelich) on the team is at least partially because of Loretta.
  8. Is he a free agent after the year or rule 5 eligible?
  9. He could be a rental though. However, like last year the Brewers can give Villar his chance into summer but at some point they will want to upgrade.
  10. Unfortunate that MLB doesn't allow the player choose whatever doctor they want, especially when it comes to addiction. At first glance the deal certainly seems to favor Milwaukee but as you said if he performs well he will be able to earn some well deserved incentives and he is well on his way to reaching them this year.
  11. I'm really surprised that Suter has not been part of the AAA shuttle thus far and has received this much lease. Woodruff continues to pitch in line the same days as Suter so the pressure is still on though.
  12. The original topic is at http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=29750&start=60 but has not been updated for a couple of years.
  13. Trust the process with Drake, terrific.
  14. Can probably throw Chatwood in there as well, 7 walks in 4 1/3 innings on Tuesday, a hefty 1.79 WHIP thus far.
  15. I would agree that Ray hit his low point in the off season and that was probably the opportunity for teams, including the Marlins, to grab him. Even in a short couple of weeks things are starting to look up for Ray and he could be a nice centerpiece if he keeps it up.
  16. If Prado is in the discussion it drops the price quite a bit because on its own taking on Prado would equal the Brewers getting a nice prospect in retuen. Two prospects plus taking on Prado might get Realmuto but not sure how badly the Marlins want to get rid of him. One of Woodruff/Burnes/Peralta plus say Ray for Prado and Realmuto.
  17. I have not been one to criticize Villar much but don't see how he is resembling the 2016 version, this version is pretty similar to the 2017 version of low on base, low OPS and bad defense. That has nothing to do with a guy showing flair or whatever, really reaching there. With that said the other in house options are equally bad so not much they can do right now.
  18. They both are low on base guys that rely on batting average and not real good defensively. If Scooter's power isn't real they are pretty much the same player, very replaceable. If the Brewers are still in it at the trade deadline I would look for them to upgrade there again.
  19. Would take Yelich over Ozuna still if money was not an issue in the future. Think Ozuna has a better chance to bust, certainly had a great year in 2017 though.
  20. With the increase in off days it is easier to accomplish if they went that route. Looking at the schedule they could get to at least the first week of June if they rotated between Guerra/Woodruff, not that it will ever happen.
  21. Interesting that only 7 players graduated to Milwaukee. Not surprising that out of those 7 that Suter peaked at the lowest, 20, and if Clancy didn't stick to his guns probably would have never gotten that high.
  22. Yes, that should be noted. It is always easier to get to the park by shuttles than coming back to the location you started at, plus rowdier and more drunk.
  23. And Mitch Haniger was demoted to A ball the year after Arizona acquired him from the Brewers so one week of minor league play doesn't mean much. In regards to the starting rotation I hope they give Guerra another shot as they need somebody else to solidify the rotation.
  24. But Jeffress is not consistent. You can't just dismiss what happened in Texas, or even his ~1.5 WHIP as a Brewer last year. You can't just exclude that data. He's been mostly awful for a year and a half. He's been very lucky to have a low e.r.a. for the Brewers recently, but it's unlikely to continue. You seem to think there's some kind of special sauce that makes Jeffress good "as a Brewer" and you conveniently ignore everything else. The only thing that makes him effective "as a Brewer" is being in his prime and having great velocity and a high K rate a few years ago, and being very lucky in a very small sample size last year and this year. That's your consistency. Where do you get the year and a half of awful from? He was fine his initial time in Texas. Last year was not good but if you take the overall picture from 2014-2018 he was good and as you said you can't just exclude data. He was lucky last year with the Brewers but he hasn't been lucky thus far this year just good.
  25. I have been watching here and there on Facebook and thought it was funny when the announcer said it was too high and it was barely past the infield.
