  1. Nice to see Gindl turn it around. I would have beeen okay with Davis because of the platoon but I have not been impressed with Davis and prefer Gindl at this point. Gindl is also the only lefty bat when Francisco and Scooter start.
  2. I was taking a look at last years NL roster and saw that 9 outfielders made the final team plus Kemp/Stanton were hurt but made it so the chances that Gomez makes it are probably better than I thought. Don't like all those Giants getting votes though because it just gives me a bad feeling that the combination of fan voting and Bochy favoring his players will end up screwing Gomez.
  3. I'm actually hoping that Braun doesn't sneak into that third spot because he probably doesn't really deserve the start and if he makes it I think Gomez gets left off. Pretty much a lock at this point that Segura makes it as a reserve, no shame in losing out to Tulowitzki.
  4. Not really, from April 14-May 1 he hit .300 with 7 HR and 21 RBI. Over a course of an entire season that would be over 70 HR and 200 RBI. I think everybody here knew it wouldn't last but the fact was he was very good for a couple week period.
  5. Actually it has become a very interesting read in hindsight along with http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=28660 which revolved around the expectations we had of Gomez around this time last year. He has certainly proved plenty of people wrong this year.
  6. With such a short list it is amazing to think that both Segura and Gomez have a shot at it this year.
  7. I wonder what people would be saying about him if he never signed the extension, would he be considered the typical guy that has a great year before becoming a free agent? I imagine he would have been traded at the deadline with the impending huge contract. I have my doubts he will sign another extension as well but he is signed for three more full years and the remainder of this year so wouldn't feel the need to trade him now. Would probably get a better deal in the off season if they go down that route.
  8. I just saw the highlights real briefly but thought it was kind of weird that he got hit in the head and it didn't seem to hurt at all. It was interesting to see the old timers Mattingly, Gibson, Trammell, McGwire, Matt Williams and Turner Ward get involved.
  9. Evan Gattis has a 3.153 OPS in nine pinch hit appearances this year.
  10. Kind of flying under the radar but Caleb Gindl has really turned things around this year. He started out real slow but had a nice May and for the month of June is hitting nearly 400 with an OPS over 1. Still at only 24 I think he could help the Brewers in the future and if Braun goes on the DL I wouldn't mind seeing him called up over Prince for sure and probably even Davis since he can play all three positions.
  11. I actually think it would be best for Kroenke if they got some better starters at AAA because I think he could be a decent reliever but won't make it in the bigs as a starter.
  12. I was too young to remember the thinking behind the trade but why did they make it? It didn't really look like Manning was anything special with the Indians so was it the Brewers just looking at the way Gorman was playing the first couple of months and thinking he had nothing left in the tank?
  13. It isa non issue to Ron because it is likely Braun never gets suspended. Roenicke will just continue to trot him out every day like he usually does.
  14. Considering Figaro is starting on Friday I sure would hope so as Thornburg may be needed Friday. Hellweg is schedule tonight for Nashville as well so might need to keep an eye on that.
  15. With credit to Ron Burgundy, Boy, that escalated quickly. I mean, that really got out of hand fast!
  16. According to Adam McCalvy he may be used in relief now so not sure what they would do on Saturday. Since he is already on the 40 man and pitched Monday could it possibly be Pena for a start?
  17. I really don't understand why anybody's opinion would change after hearing about this, on either side. A couple of weeks ago there was a verbal statement from the same guy that confirmed Braun's story so can't really agree with you.
  18. Saw that he was starting today. Not a huge deal but should make the team better and really the type of deal that I hope Melvin was looking to make before the season was lost. A fairly small sample but a 800 OPS against righties makes a decent half of a platoon.
  19. I was at the game last night with my family and it was weird, didn't even seem like 20,000, more like a weeknight at county stadium with less enthusiasm. Almost felt like I was watching one of those games at Miller Park that they sometimes have after the Brewers play because there was hardly any crowd noise. At least the lines were short everywhere we went.
  20. I would be in if they could deliver on their end but like Jim H said I don't know if the Brewers even would want one. Since the season already started would we be looking at the 2014 season?
  21. Well I think it would be best to salvage something out of Weeks and I think a straight platoon of Weeks/Scooter will produce decent results. They are stuck with Weeks through next year anyway so might as well try it because watching either of these guys play every day isn't going to end well.
  22. I don't want my money at that bank because Weeks is done as an everyday player. It can't hurt because Weeks has been so terrible and Gennett isn't good enough to really worry about service time. I wouldn't mind a straight platoon.
  23. I guess we will never agree on this because I couldn't disagree more that casual fans would be smart enough to understand trading a great player for prospects. I don't even think many season ticket holders buy into that.
  24. Braun passed Ben Oglivie for seventh all time in Brewers hits.
