  1. I still like the rule 5 draft because it forces teams to add guys to their own 40 man that deserve to be and once there it is an easy call to the big leagues. It basically ensures that guys that are deserving are added and not just in the system for 7 years. If they are not added it is usually for a good reason and there are rarely more than a couple of success stories each year. Noda of the A's is another Dodger minor league that has shown he can hold his own and is playing well in the bigs.
  2. I kind of think a bad team will claim him and he doesn't make it back to the Dodgers.
  3. The Red Sox were pretty hot until they got swept by the Cardinals. Hopefully Freddy can stop the momentum the Cardinals are on.
  4. I don't know how he is going to do but I'm predicting a lot of bad puns in the game threads in the future. Darin lies the problem if he has a Ruf go of it.
  5. The Hader deal was a good deal if just looking at the trade but tough for PR and selling a product to fans. Saying the Brewers received Peanuts is certainly false but can make the case they shouldn't trade a guy like Hader when in first. The Brewers won't forget the reaction from last year so may be hesitant to trade Burnes/Adames if in contention.
  6. I'm all for riding the hot hand but he did this last year with Cleveland as well. Let's see if he can keep it up but with guys like Voit, Winker and Brosseau on the roster he should get plenty of opportunity. Really impressed how he came through in the 9th last night after Turang had a poor at bat. He's earned more playing time against both righties and lefties.
  7. Yes, the guy starting has been a 1 inning reliever this year, not stretched out. Kind of like they have done with Brosseau in the past wouldn't surprise me if Turang comes in for Miller rather early.
  8. Unless they get rid of Varland they may not be able to do much, especially with Elvis pitching so well. It is nice to have guys with options and major league experience like Miller, Cousins, Megill, Small. I hope Claudio never gets called up again with other left handed guys available.
  9. He is retired, no idea why the Brewers would still roster him. If you want to pay a $1 to read the article from the Scranton Times Tribune you can read this: https://www.thetimes-tribune.com/sports/railriders/pro-career-behind-him-hard-throwing-ray-black-slows-things-down-to-basics/article_f012547c-d605-5d3f-a8f1-6a59a259582d.html
  10. Shrinking, a show with Harrison Ford, is also very good. Liked the Tetris movie as well so worth a free trial to watch the Brewers and binge some shows. Facing a couple of former Brewers this weekend well past their primes in Greinke and Lyles and a bullpen game with left handed Rogers to start. A real opportunity to get the bats going.
  11. Which is a pretty big assumption with any starting rotation, certainly the case with the Brewers where there is limited to no depth.
  12. I don't think anybody can say his role was going to be RP this season without making assumptions, he has always been a starter and still is. They have him under control next year and actually wouldn't be surprised if he signed a couple year deal in the off season to avoid arbitration and get some more guaranteed money in '25. However, not seeing a five year deal. If his trends hold true, he should be good the rest of the year so that is all I am hoping for at this point.
  13. The Royals are so much worse than those two, the Athletics and Royals are clearly the worst teams in the majors. Pretty much never expect a sweep but the Brewers better sweep the Royals.
  14. There will be plenty of doubters until he can prove it at the major league level. They can keep him down there until July and if he is still hitting lefties there will be many that say he can't hit major league lefties. They still might even be correct. Since the Brewers are paying him a decent amount they should take another look at some point. He probably is the best first base option in the organization if Rowdy got hurt as pathetic as that is.
  15. Well at least they play the Royals next. The Brewers have lost their fair share against bad teams but the Royals are the worst of the worst. The best thing about Rea coming in this game is probably get to see Burnes Saturday when going to the game.
  16. Wiemer is actually very good against lefties but batting 9th. Counsell is just playing who he has. Voit stinks against lefties, he isn't fine, so how about the GM get rid of him and acquire a 1B that can.
  17. Rea probably going back to Nashville after tonight.
  18. It is real hard to engage on this site because every new topic looks like there are no replies to anything. If somebody starts a new topic it could really have 10 replies or none, you don't know unless you click in. Active topics with much discussion drop down because it looks like there are no replies. Basically appears to be a dead forum if a new user looks around.
  19. Not a good sign for Brosseau that he isn't in the lineup tonight, certainly not on the team for his defense. May be optioned after the road trip.
  20. We'll see but somebody has to go Sunday. If a guy like Elvis pitches 3 innings Saturday it could be him. Rea may very well lose his starting spot as well.
  21. The Brewers can make an incremental improvement by actually getting a right handed platoon bat that can hit LHP. Lane Thomas of the Nationals fits, get rid of Voit.
  22. It.is so frustrating that Voit is the platoon against LHP when he can't hit LHP. How low can he go, I guess .038 isn't low enough.
  23. I don't really think the Brewers are considering sending Turang down right now because of the lack of good options. Hopefully he can pick things up in the next month as I have no doubt he will be sent down when Urias come back if he continues to struggle offensively. If Anderson/Turang/Urias are all producing there are enough at bats for all.
