I think they end up with Hernandez. Due to his higher salary, upcoming free agency and underperforming I don't think he will cost too much and RF has been a black hole all year. Think he could put up similar numbers to Renfroe last year. Would certainly help against LHP as well. Could also DH if some of these other Brewers outfielders (Taylor/Tapia/Jones/Perkins) start hitting at all.

None of those guys have much upside or are very appealing. Not very hard for other contenders to beat that offer.

Maybe Arnold is really forward thinking and realizes there will be no bats available after the trade deadline so teams may be willing to give up prospects for non 40 man Hiura after the trade deadline. -
I want what is worst for the Cardinals and would lean toward no trade. Don't want them to get any top prospects or financial flexibility.

Woodruff will obviously be back so they have the SP covered. I take my chances with Burnes/Woodruff/Peralta/Miley in the playoffs. They do need another hitter or two, one way or the other.

I think Alexander is DFA as soon as he is ready to go. They have a better version of Alexander in Rea. However, do think they have too many fringe relief pitchers on the 40 man that have not been real good.

What Miller did in May is certainly worth the cash, there are very few players even around the league that will hit like he did for a month. However, what he is doing now is what he did with Cleveland last year. Started hot but pretty bad the rest of the year. Hoping he can figure something out this time around and become a more consistently good player.

Cousins was optioned a few days ago but since he was injured he gets major league pay and service time and that option is rescinded.

They actually have some decent hitter vs LHP in Weimer, Contreras, Miller and now Urias. However, that still leaves over half the lineup not being very good, probably no further help internally so they will have to go externally if they want to improve.

I would certainly take a Peralta extension over Woodruff, big no on Woodruff. However, if they become sellers with Burnes and Woodruff, Peralta becomes a really good trade asset and don't need to lower that trade value.

I actually like lumping in Fielder with Weeks, it was a good team and they played professionally together from the start. Along with the injury, things went downhill after Fielder left.

Went to the Admirals Western Conference Finals game tonight. Fun game that they won. Good crowd for a Thursday Night. Kind of bizarre going to a game at the arena as I remember going there as a kid to see the Bucks. I know they have remodeled over the years but still very much as I remember during the 80's and brining back memories long forgotten.

Years of control certainly matter so yes his value is going to be lower than 2022 or 2021. The trade with Hader did work as they ended up with Contreras, Payamps and Gasser. However, it is still a bad look to throw in the towel in this poor division. The Brewers could make the case they were going to be better with Rogers last year but will be even harder to say this team will be better without Burnes. Probably should have traded Burnes in the off season and now will likely have to wait until after this season.

Good for him, had been with the organization for a long time so have followed for a long time, an easy guy to root for. Looking forward to him pitching in Milwaukee in a couple of weeks.

My main concern when they brought him in was his strikeout rate. To go from 6.7 for his career to 10.4 this season is a huge jump. I also give credit to Arnold because he isn't sticking with the relief guys that are not working out. He didn't need all to hit, just some.

Not really surprising it is a major league deal considering they have no starter on Thursday and giving Rea another start tonight after lasting three innings last time around. -
The Brewers need to keep giving Taylor a chance because there isn't a better option right now. Probably after next season he gets too expensive and they have a number of outfielders that can play his role better.

Pitched the 8th against the Astros and gave up a run in an inning of work.

I'm going to opt to stay positive and looking forward to a bunch of starting pitching to return in 6-8 weeks.

You mentioned it but he has been brutal lately, with his last start being his worst. Not seeing any call up to make a spot start next week.

Unless they get rid of Varland they may not be able to do much, especially with Elvis pitching so well. It is nice to have guys with options and major league experience like Miller, Cousins, Megill, Small. I hope Claudio never gets called up again with other left handed guys available. -
Which is a pretty big assumption with any starting rotation, certainly the case with the Brewers where there is limited to no depth.

I don't think anybody can say his role was going to be RP this season without making assumptions, he has always been a starter and still is. They have him under control next year and actually wouldn't be surprised if he signed a couple year deal in the off season to avoid arbitration and get some more guaranteed money in '25. However, not seeing a five year deal. If his trends hold true, he should be good the rest of the year so that is all I am hoping for at this point.
