As it stands it is Caratini/Brosseau/Hiura and one of Toro/Miller/Frelick/Turang/Perkins as the last guy. Will be interesting to see if they still end up trading Hiura. Urias can certainly be the backup SS and starting 2B so no need for Turang to sit on the bench.

That playoff game in 2008 was the most electrifying crowd I have ever been at for the Brewers. I guess a drought of 26 years will do that. Then the crowd was dead the next day with Suppan giving up a leadoff Homer and they still pitched Gallardo late in the game.when it was over.

Fielder and Cooper should be clear 1/2, a debate could certainly be made between the 2. I remember being in grade school when Brock played and everybody thought he stunk, certainly not great statistical analysis but I have never heard or seen anybody consider him to be very good. He fell 42 plate appearances short of being in the Brewers Wall of Honor, only Tommy Harper was closer without qualifying.

Considering some assortment of Burnes/Woodruff/Peralta/Adames/Contreras have to be 1-5 I would agree with the list for the most part. Since this is about how valuable the player is to the Brewers organization I would think Yelich would be somewhere in the 8-10 range as he is still the face of the franchise, likely would be the number one answer if a Family Feud type question was asked of a 100 random fans outside the stadium. This will likely be the lowest Chourio will be for a long time but okay at 7 right now.. Agree with Winker on the list because the Brewers are pretty much counting on him to have a bounce back season. I think Ashby can make a strong case to be on the list, clearly they targeted him as somebody they will count on for a long time and somebody to take over for Woodruff/Burnes when they leave.

He was not optioned in 2021 or 2022 he has an option. Not real interested though, 31 and poor defense. -
Totally disagree, they traded Ruiz straight up for an All Star that won't be a free agent for a number of years. If the casual fan even knows who Robert Gasser is they know who Contreras is.

One specific article that I recommend having in its own forum are those Crew Throwbacks that Reilly does. I think it would be nice to have all of those in one place. I do enjoy reading those but is kind of out of place from the other articles because I don't know if they are there really to generate discussion. Maybe even have one pinned in this separate forum where it would show a list of all player articles done and you can click a link to read an article on a player you are interested in.

The weight does not fall on Gasser to prove it was worth trading Hader. They received Contreras and everybody knows it, if anything there is less pressure on Gasser since they received an All Star for Hader in the end.

There would be pretty much nothing on the main forum without the articles. There isn't exactly much going on with the Brewers right now.

The Mariners said that but then they traded him. There is a risk with counting on Winker to be the every day DH but considering the potential I think it is worth it, certainly not a sure thing though. Wouldn't surprise me one bit to see him on the IL more than he is active.

He would be a useful player if he could hit lefties because he then could play 1B/DH/2b platoon but there isn't much evidence he can do so at the major league level. As it stands now Tellez, Winker maybe even Turang could hit better than him against lefties so not a lot of reason to have him on the roster. If the team and Hiura think it is fixable that is great but doesn't seem like a good plan to count on that.

They still need another right handed bat so yes he would fit but the Brewers are not going to take him on at that salary.

Good to see Max Lazar turning things around. Was never able to bounce back from that COVID season that derailed his development, hopefully his time in Australia is a sign of things to come in 2023.

They could really use another right handed bat that can hit lefties as 1B/weak side of the DH platoon/backup OF. Wil Myers, Adam Duvall and Justin Turner should all be targets. We shall see if any are in the Brewers price range.

I think the Brewers got a little lucky with Wong last year, he declined rapidly defensively and had a great offensive year that he can likely never repeat ever again. Upside is higher with Winker, he was a 900 OPS guy before, not sure he will ever get there again but being in the 800 range would be a real boost for this lineup and a huge upgrade over McCutchen. I don't doubt Winker had a bad attitude last year being hurt all of the time, I'm sure it was frustrating. However, as a 29 year old upcoming free agent he has a lot to gain by having a good year. Not only would he need bad character, he would also have to be an idiot not to do everything he can to have a successful 2023. I truly believe the Brewers will get the best season Winker will have for the rest of his career.

I think Ashby and one of Mitchell/Taylor/Turang is fair for Murphy. If the Brewers are out of their window after year 2 could trade him for some pretty decent prospects too. Of course the Brewers are not going to offer Hedbert Perez for Pina, the Braves will be lucky to have somebody take him for nothing. Also agree on Feliciano, not a lot of love, just that this is his last option year so he needs to show he can be a major league caliber player.

Absolutely, I hear the extension talk a lot but don't believe it will impact current year payroll much at all, It doesn't make much sense to dump payroll this year to sign guys to extensions. It is the long term commitment that is the risk for the Brewers. Yelich isn't really a bad contract for 2023 it is more that he will be taking a big chunk of the payroll into the late 2020's.

After thinking about the Brewers moves so far I really wish they never traded Renfroe. I think it is correct that Winker is more of a DH and if that is the case could still have Renfroe in RF and a guy that hits lefties. In some ways this seems like the last chance for this group of players to make a playoff push so could have had Renfroe for one more year in the middle of the lineup like they are doing with Winker. Could then have some sort of platoon of Taylor/Mitchell in CF with Frelick ready to step in if the CF struggle or somebody else in the OF/Winker gets hurt.

No, they actually learned from last year when they had the right handed McCutchen as.the full time DH.

I like this move a lot if Winker is healthy but the neck is a major concern. If healthy Winker will go off during a contract year, can live with his attitude for a year. Plays the correct side of the platoon, unlike McCutchen last year.

Jackson was out of options so like Pablo he wasn't long for the 40 man.

I can't imagine this is the case. A guy like Renfroe is a short term cost. Extending one of the pitchers and trading the other reduces payroll in the current year or the very least keeps it the same. If they extend a pitcher and trade one there better be a big free agent signing(s) or it's a fail and they really should trade both pitchers at that point instead of extending -
