  1. No, they actually learned from last year when they had the right handed McCutchen as.the full time DH.
  2. I like this move a lot if Winker is healthy but the neck is a major concern. If healthy Winker will go off during a contract year, can live with his attitude for a year. Plays the correct side of the platoon, unlike McCutchen last year.
  3. Jackson was out of options so like Pablo he wasn't long for the 40 man.
  4. Good to hear, would certainly like to see a 27 year old in his prime extended over a 30 year old pitcher like Woodruff.

  6. I can't imagine this is the case. A guy like Renfroe is a short term cost. Extending one of the pitchers and trading the other reduces payroll in the current year or the very least keeps it the same. If they extend a pitcher and trade one there better be a big free agent signing(s) or it's a fail and they really should trade both pitchers at that point instead of extending

  8. Nah, probably the least likely scenario. Nothing to see here
  9. There are not quality third basemen available. I guess Justin Turner may fall into that category but he is declining offensively and defensively and has trouble staying on the field as well getting older. Abreu is more of a DH and the Brewers do need somebody there.

  11. Related to adding to the 40 man deadline, David Hamilton who the Red Sox obtained for Hunter Renfroe was added to their 40 man. I don't know if he will ever hit enough to be a major league regular but 70/78 in stolen bases is pretty impressive.

  13. Bell hasn't really been a lefy masher throughout his career, would be a bad allocation of resources in my opinion. I think Abreu would fit great on this team if they could obtain him for one or two years. The risk is there for a swift decline because of age but could really use that right handed bat that actually hits against left handed and right handed pitchers. I'm not the biggest Tellez fan but do recognize his stats could see a nice uptick next year combining new rules and better luck.

  15. It certainly doesn't mean that, it's very easy to DFA him if they find an upgrade. In the press conference they are not going to say they are keeping him around until they find something better, it is always going to be a positive spin for the player.

  17. Doubt it, they will sign more guys before Spring Training plus there will be more room on Friday as they won't be tendering a contract to all of their guys.

  19. Disappointed they didn't add Robinson because I think he will get selected and believe he would have been recalled at some point next season by the Brewers anyways. Not even considering the tender/non tender pitching candidates I would rather have Robinson on the 40 man over Jason Alexander/Trevor Kelley/Tyson Miller.

  21. That 1990 Brewers team was miserable but Rob Robinson never pitched better than the time he was with the Brewers in 1990, gave some hope he would be a starter for years to come but that was not in the cards. Bob Sebra also provided some excitement that year when he started that brawl with the Mariners at the Kingdome. He didn't pitched an inning in the majors after that.

  23. No decision yet and I have gone back and forth but I think they pick it up. They could trade him and think there would be interest. He has been a 2.5-3.0 WAR player during his time here and has earned what they have paid him thus far. Would certainly take one more season of that. I believe no shift will improve his defensive numbers as well.

  25. Trade Simulator says Taylor alone could get it done but sure include one of Cousins/Topa to get it done. Find that a little hard to believe but if the Brewers could trade from their excess to acquire what was a weakness I hope they do it. Would open up a reserve spot for Ruiz.
