  1. I never wanted Naquin on this team but figured he would make it. Excited about the possibility of s couple of young guys in the outfield.
  2. They won't have a tough time justifying sending him down when Taylor comes back. As simple as he has options
  3. My answer to that is that rookie group isn't all going to be up at the same time. That is why I want them to have Felick or Weimer on the OD roster because it is very easy to option them at some point during the year when the team is fully healthy. It is smart to keep depth for the long season.
  4. They have a couple of guys to put on the 60 day IL so that shouldn't be an issue. They actually still may be deciding between him and Hiura. Could also be trying to trade Hiura and don't want to show their hand.
  5. Attended last night's game and what a pathetic performance. It happens but there were so many time it looked like the Bucks would blow the Pacers away and they just couldn't do it. The defense against the three point shot gave me horrible flashbacks, hopefully not a sign of things to come.
  6. I don't get why WIly Peralta is a #11 seed and more confused why so many are voting for him. He was a punching bag when he was here and Aramis was one of the better free agent signings in Brewers history.
  7. If it is really based on favorite then yeah Suter would be much higher. Kind of weak that you put Gomez and Perez together, Perez had popularity above his talent.
  8. I am excited to see what they have in Love. They will have to commit $20 million or so for 2024 before seeing him start but it isn't a long term commitment with huge cap implications so they have some flexibility with him. If he performs well they will have to give him a huge contract but the Packers QB has had a huge cap number for a number of years.
  9. 2-3 WAR players are pretty valuable, especially at league minimum. If the Brewers are confident that Mitchell/Frelick are 2-3 WAR players than the correct decision to get rid of the guy making $12 million.
  10. The Lazard signing will get the Packers another draft pick. He had a nice career with the Packers but don't think his numbers will ever be better than 2022.
  11. Hard to believe it is likely that Anderson will playing a lot of RF and Turang 2B when Anderson has played 3B and Turang SS in Spring Training. When Urias wasn't at the WBC I believe he was pretty much always 2B as well. Not a fan of Naquin either but probably more wishful thinking he doesn't make the team.
  12. I would like to see if they have to pay Voit his $2million as well if they add him to the 40 man and option him. Even if that money would be guaranteed might not be bad for depth.
  13. Will be nice to see Frelick near the top of the lineup for the Brewers, may not be opening day but coming soon. Will get on base and produce runs.
  14. Hiura isn't really any different than the end of last year. If they had no intention of keeping him they would have non-tendered last year. I don't necessarily disagree that he isn't a great fit for this team but don't see the Brewers throwing away $2 million with a DFA.
  15. The hitting group is far from set, a ton of question marks.
  16. Lutz can certainly earn a role as a 4th outfielder on this Brewers team in the future. Frelick/Mitchell being lefty and Taylor in arbitration starting next year so there is opportunity there. I don't know if fans will ever go nutz for Lutz like some expected but could still have a nice career.
  17. I think money can play a factor. May roll with Miller to see how he does and option him if not performing. With Voit, they are guaranteeing him a couple of million dollars if he makes the team and they are already doing that with Hiura as well. I kind of hate Spring Training though because there is a lot of fool's gold and the production disappears when the real games start.
  18. Yes, seems likely Anderson is the primary 3b and Urias 2b. Perkins may benefit from that but still a longshot
  19. The Brewers certainly don't need to extend Adams. There is not another few years as you state. Clearly there is a couple of year window here but if they struggle they should absolutely look to trade him for a nice package of players.
  20. It isn't that hard to keep Wiemer and Frelick down 15 days during the year. Would rather have either one ahead of Naquin to start the year. Can always send down one when Taylor comes back due to a numbers game or send one down and bring one up if they need to work on something. It's pretty easy to do when their top prospects are all outfielders.
  21. Counsell has indicated Tyrone Taylor will miss the first month of the season. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/03/brewers-tyrone-taylor-elbow-out-month-injured-list.html The impact of the injury has been mentioned in other threads but since an initial time table has been given by Counsell what is eveyrbody's thoughts? I would love to see Frelick but imagine it will be Naquin. Maybe Perkins makes the teams as a right handed OF. Still think Anderson will be the primary 3B. Any chance of picking up a guy like Profar since he is still out there?
  22. I have learned not to get surprised by anything in sports but Rodgers retiring would certainly be one, just not going to happen with this much money at stake.
  23. 40 man roster spots shouldn't be an issue with all of the 40 man guys out of options and Wilson eventually going on the 60 day IL.
  24. With Taylor maybe not ready for opening day would like to see them go with Frelick from the start. If both Mitchell and Frelick are playing well then it is a good problem to have. If one is struggling then can option that player down once Taylor is back. There are a lot of X factor articles around here but Frelick could be a true X factor if given the chance to play. Naquin is another journeyman that isn't going to get them anywhere.
