  1. I've seen some national mention of how ridiculously low Aoki's K/AB rate is. I forget where. Hopefully teams are taking notice.
  2. I don't think it is. I just don't see the Orioles moving Bundy or Gausman. I wonder if the Tigers would pull a move for Aoki and give us Porcello. They have a ton of salary spent and would appreciate the contract.
  3. MyMLBDraft.com has us taking Beede at 7 overall right now. At least they update a lot. http://www.mymlbdraft.com/MLB-Mock-Draft (I am neither endorsing or poo-pooing this guess at this point)
  4. Khris Davis is no more than a fourth-outfielder in my mind. Still.
  5. I'm still sort of surprised more of you don't have Jose Pena on your lists.
  6. If the Brewers went high-school with their first-round selection who would you rather have Touki Touissaint or Alex Jackson Because barring a senior-year regression, I'm thinking they will be right around the fifth pick. So potential-impact pitching or potential-impact hitting?
  7. With what appears to be a potentially serious arm injury to Jason Grilli tonight, the Pirates may become very interested in trading for a closer before the deadline. It's difficult to pull off inter-division trades. That and the reliever would maybe, MAYBE net us a mightily-struggling Luis Heredia from their system but in my opinion not much more. And they may not even do that but there is some desperation.
  8. Agreed. I did not buy into his talent during his recent success in 2011/2012. To me he was the pitcher that epitomized the "good luck" pitcher with the Cardinals. I am starting to believe now. I don't think you can trade both of them. But you need to deal one. And Gallardo's age makes him way more attractive. C'mon, he's no Suppan... LOL. Yikes. I wasn't trying to go to that extreme. However, Lohse certainly doesn't have stuff that misses a ton of bats.
  9. If the DBacks offered up Axford for Davidson you'd do it, right? While I would be thrilled with this deal, I'm not sure it gives them enough. You may be able to build a package around Gallardo, Gonzalez, and Axford/Henderson or Gallardo, Aoki, Axford for Skaggs and another. Personally, I'm hoping they get another arm like Holmberg and address the future hole at 3B in the FA market. (I've been studying scenarios specifically for the DBacks for like two weeks now....I just wish they would do something before they realize they're falling out of contention) Skaggs line tonight BTW vs. Dodgers: 4.1IP 8H 3R 3ER 3BB 3K

  11. Anyone have anything on some lower level guys Mitch Brown - (2nd - 2012) http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=621066 BA Rank: 5 Really the only one that would make sense otherwise to me. Weak system.
  12. You HAVE to be thinking about Matt Purke before he went down with injury. There was a time when he was speculated to go over Rendon and Cole first overall. I reviewed TONS of mocks before 2011 and NEVER saw Jungmann go first overall. I also was a huge Jungmann fan at Texas. To be clear I never saw many mocks that had Trevor Bauer first overall and he was the most hyped going into that draft and consistently ranked over Jungmann. Actually, most mocks had Jed Bradley over Jungmann going into that draft as well as he is a lefty.
  13. So by that logic you would have drafted Bubba Starling over Hultzen, Bauer, Jungmann, Sonny Gray, Matt Barnes, Tyler Anderson, or Alex Meyer? Eh? The bottom line is that the Brewers can find offense, whether it's on the free-agent market, through trade, waivers, etc. The probability of finding a frontline starter after pick 15 drops dramatically. David Price (first overall) Justin Verlander (second overall) Clayton Kershaw (seventh overall) Matt Harvey (seventh overall) Stephen Strasburg (first overall) Keep in mind that the rest (or close to the rest) of the REALLY dominant starting pitchers right now were international free agents. The Cliff Lee's of the world happen WAY to non-frequeltly (fourth round). No one said there wasn't risk to a top arm, early in a draft. But you have to take that chance when you get a bottom-five record.
  14. While there are selections in hindsight that looks more attractive right now, it's still WAY WAY WAY to early to say they missed on both Jungmann and Bradley. (And I'm kind of noticing how Dylan Bundy's name isn't mentioned here....)
  15. Would someone please try to post when this is on again? I missed this too.
  16. Albert Pujols was a thirteenth-round pick. We get a top-five, we need a pitcher - and a college pitcher most likely. And, I'd take Sabathia in that scenario. I can find you a first baseman that will hit you 25 plus HR's and contribute. There are about ten consistent pitchers over the last five years that have put up the numbers that Sabathia has shown. And they're about five times as rare as high-end offensive players and we already know we can't afford one that's already broken out.
  17. @jordo2323
  18. No, and it wouldn't even be close. http://www.baseball-almanac.com/recbooks/rb_hr7.shtml
  19. Ricky Nolasco had an ERA near 5.00 in the NL, a declining strikeout rate for the last five years, and has averaged over a hit/inning leading the league in hits allowed once, and is a free-agent in 2014. I'm not sure I understand the sentiments that this was a weak return. Do people out there really think that Nolasco was going to pull a Zach Lee or Joc Peterson? Of course this was a salary dump by the Marlins. Realistically, they're lucky they got anything back.
  20. If the Brewers go after a prep-bat with the first pick I will shoot someone. We're virtually priced out of the free-agent, frontline starter market. If we're going to have a top-five pick it must be used to find a frontline starter in my opinion. We just don't have the channels to an ace anymore. Should the pick somehow get into the 6-10 range, then I'm a little more open to an offensive player.
  21. Does the acquisition of Nolasco by the Dodgers do anything to make the DBacks loosen up on a top-tier prospect like Skaggs? Want some irony? Nolasco will probably make his first Dodgers start early next week against.... the DBacks. Immediately following the Dodgers on the Dbacks schedule? The Brewers. The DBacks also have a ton of division games this month before the deadline including stands with Colorado, the Dodgers, Giants, and the Padres.
  22. If they make the World Series. I doubt DH is high on their priority list. Lol. Seriously? (Ramirez would displace Prado in this scenario and play 3B. The ability for his bat to play DH in the playoffs is an added bonus)
  23. Gallardo, reliever, reliever may be enough to get Skaggs and another done. I'd hope we may be able to get Skaggs / Holmberg but it's probably hoping too much. Should they include Aoki, then I think Skaggs / Holmberg becomes very realistic. The other thing is that Ramirez actually fits them well too. Prado isn't impressing anyone and he could DH in the playoffs.
  24. Although he's not as attractive as the others, I would definately put Peralta into our short/medium-term plans. There is no reason to want to deal him and you need players under some sort of longer-term financial control.
