  1. This begs the question ... which is now more impressive, the Packers run of assistant coaches who are now head coaches/GMs ... or the number of Uecker disciples who are now head announcers around baseball?
  2. Nick Delmonico was their #4 when we traded k-rod and didn't amount to much of anything Their system is a bit better now though I would argue. Delmonico, as far as I can recall was never a fringe top 100 prospect. Not saying Davies is light years better ... but I think the ceilings are a bit different.
  3. If the Brewers can get another prospect on top of Davies I would die a little bit. Davies is a fringe top 100 guy as it is. That is a great pull for Gerardo Parra. If we are able to get anybody else on top of it ... what a day.
  4. This could end up being a really, REALLY good 24 hour period for the Brewers future. A lot of reports right now that Brewers/Orioles are talking Parra for Zach Davies ... if we can steal a fringe top 100 prospect player (#3 in the Orioles system) for Parra ... what a great haul of prospects today would be. Of course this is all speculation at this point. Still yet, as someone mentioned just above ... we have a few more deals we can make tomorrow and hopefully fatten up the farm system even more. Going to miss GoGo. Love the haul though.
  5. The Mets are still paying Bobby Bonilla. I wouldn't put it past them.
  6. Ahh, I didn't see the first one. Yep, please close this mods.
  7. http://www.mlbdailydish.com/2015/7/7/8907935/twins-brewers-mlb-trade-deadline-cotts-gomez Everything says preliminary ... but I didn't see a Twins thread yet here and I was curious as to what their system looked like. Any of you minor league aficionados want to project what a Gomez or a Gomez/Cotts trade could bring back?
  8. Ho hum, Parra just doing his thing. I know his career numbers are more accurate to what he should bring back in a deal ... but his price is increasing every day he keeps swinging a bat like this.
  9. I was just coming on here to post something along the lines of "Come on Lohse! Let's get your ERA below 6 and let's trick someone into a desperate 'he might be turning this around' mindset to clear us some salary in a trade..." but then Kelly Johnson just hit one out and we are behind 3 batters in.
  10. Not that I had high hopes that Garza was going to be able to be traded anyway... but this probably eliminates all hope, yes?
  11. Have we petitioned yet to bring back the beer mug? I feel like if we have Bernie's beer mug re-installed for the final stretch run it should be enough to lock up a playoff spot.
  12. Revisiting this. I can't imagine Parra's value can get much higher at this point. This last week he has hit .480 with an OBP of .567. He really has ignited the offense since taking over the lead off position. For the season .306/.344/.467 ... an .811 OPS is pretty nice. I would think he will be dealt here in the next week to 10 days? When is Khrush scheduled to come back?
  13. Positives of this winning streak: Fun to watch, a few players helping their trade value (Lind, Ramirez, Frankie, etc), our players smile from time to time... Negatives of this winning streak: Attanasio might still think we are in it. Go Crew.
  14. My guess is they just wanted a few fresh arms because the bullpen has been used quite a bit the last week+? I hope...
  15. I'm very curious why something as minuscule as Gerardo Parra taking a few grounders at first base during spring training can turn a fan base on its heads. Maybe he got his outfield work in for the day and asked if he could field a few there. Maybe Parra is hoping to get a few more innings out of the season when ... that one time in June when we have burned all of our bench... Roenicke will look down the roster and say "Yeah, Parra took a few reps at 1st .. we can slide him there now in the 15th inning". Maybe he lost a bet and had to take a few fungo grounders there as punishment. Breathe folks. Season hasn't even started yet.
  16. If Ron cracked down on the aggressiveness and Gomez turned back into a sub .250 hitter who slapped the ball around, didn't make baserunning mistakes because he was careful and tried to take walks would that make our situation better or worse as a team? Personally, I'd rather have a guy who hits 25 home runs, steals a crap load of bases, is a mental problem for pitchers every time he is on a base and OCCASIONALLY GETS THROWN OUT AT 2ND TRYING TO STRETCH A SINGLE... than a guy who is safe on the base paths and tries to draw talks once in a while but loses the rest of that. This isn't directed straight to you Chris Jericho ... but rather a broad statement. I would suggest that we, as a fan base, quit trying to make Carlos Gomez a perfect baseball player. Very few of those exist. He is what he is ... and what he is is a really, really good ballplayer and someone we are lucky to have on our roster for the price we are paying for him. Embrace the bad with the good. I know some of you will hate hearing this, but that is exactly what Ron is doing by making those statements to the media. I guarantee his conversations with Carlos Gomez behind closed doors are different than what he tells us. He puts a positive spin on things because that's what he is suppose to do to the media. It isn't his personality to be aggressive and challenging in public. Go Crew.
  17. I love Broxton's quote in the K-Rod article when asked how he feels his role might change with this signing: "I don't care. As long as we win, I don't care. There are important outs in the 7th, 8th, AND 9th innings."
  18. I spend a lot at Amazon, Ebay, etc This site is called Ebates and different sites pay them a percentage to pay you to "click through" to their site. Kind of like a channeling service. Basically, you sign up for a free account with only an email address (no credit card required) and when you want to shop online (hundreds of stores are listed - Walmart, Kohls, Target, Amazon, some airlines, etc) you simply log in to your Ebates account and travel to that site via Ebates and your account will be credited a percentage (1%-8% depending on site) of your total purchase. Kind of cool and a good way to save a little more on your online purchases. Plus, you will get a free $10 gift card (choice of Wal-Mart, Kohls, Target, Macys or Ebates) for signing up. http://www.ebates.com/rf.do?referrerid=salv4%2Br7breeFLp2IDX6Hw%3D%3D&eeid=26471
  19. This is a funny trade. I'm either going to really like it or really hate it. I don't think there is a middle ground. If we get a KRod type deal and he is gifted to us for middling prospects ... perfect. Our bullpen will be good to great. If we have to give up something of value I'm going to be hurt a little bit. Very interested in how this plays out.
  20. Why even play the season then?... I mean come on. This team, with a few breaks here and there (which every team needs), adding a few quality pieces, and getting hot at the right time (again, every team needs this) can make the playoffs this season. Sick of the DebbieDowner attitude. This team can contend like many other teams in the NL. I very much agree about the attitude of this forum sometimes. The Brewers are not favorites by any means... but their lineup will be solid and hopefully a bit more consistent than last year with a better platoon at first and an option to spell Segura at short. Moreover, if this trade solidifies - one of Broxton/Smith can now hover and be used in high leverage situations to get out of jams in the middle innings with the 9th belonging to Pap. That should help A LOT I would assume, even though I know Roenicke doesn't have the track record of using his relievers in that regard. Losing Yovani hurts the depth and we lose his reliability ... but we also knew his ceiling. We don't know Nelson's ... there is a lot of surprise this team could provide, and we can't forget this roster was one of the best in baseball for the first 4 months of last year. I won't decide on the Papelbon deal until I see it announced. I am really hoping this is a KRod from the Mets situation and we are being gifted him along with some cash for a "prospect"... but we will see. Go Crew.
  21. Dontrelle Willis is EXACTLY the type of signing Doug Melvin would dream up at this point... and I am fully expecting ol' leg lift to appear in 60 games with a 2.75 ERA for us this year. I have no idea if that should be in blue.
  22. I don't think he can expect much more than that. so then the next question is would WE accept that?
  23. They are kicking the tires on Johan ... given this stage in his career would he accept a Gorzo type position as a lefty reliever who is in line to get starts if we suffer any injuries? Is that silly talk?
  24. FYI, looks like the Rangers beat writer on Twitter we want to follow for the next 12-24 hours until the deal is done is TR Sullivan.
  25. Lot of Rangers fans on MLB.com chatboard and stirring that it is Sardinas straight up ... or Sardinas and a lower level prospect to get the Crew to eat some salary. No references ... just conjecture from their fan base. INTERESTING.
