  1. The Cardinals would have to pick up 2-3 starting pitchers that are better than what they have. Would adding two of Lynn, Giolito or Rodriguez be enough? Take into account the Cardinals don't get to beat up on the Pirates, Reds and Cubs all that much more. Right now the Cardinals have a bunch of #3-5 type pitchers in their rotation and most are pitching closer to #5 pitchers. Lynn is also not that great this year. Right now Montgomery and Mikolas are the best pitchers on the Cardinals staff and they are looking more like #4's than top of the rotation pieces. The Cardinals would need to add an ace and at least one #3 type pitcher to make their rotation better. Also take into consideration nearly all of their SP this year will be FA's next offseason. Other than Walker who the Cardinals are not trading their next best prospect is a starting pitcher. Actually 3 of their next 4 after Walker are pitchers. The Cardinals are going to need all of that pitching in the coming years unless they plan on paying FA rates for a starting pitcher or they need to subtract from their MLB team to do so. I don't see the Cardinals making a big splash for a trade. They will probably just add Lynn who looks to be on the decline also and somehow turn him around and have him pitch like he was a few years ago or something. But will that be enough for the rest of their punchless starting pitchers?
  2. I am not sure. Burnes hasn't been an ace type of a pitcher for about a year now. Right now he is looking more like a #2 or a #3 type pitcher. I think if the Brewers trade Burnes at the deadline they will be lucky to get over $45m+ in surplus value.
  3. If the Rangers continue to stay at the top in the AL West they could be looking for a starting pitcher to complete their rotation. I think the Rangers would be open to a Burnes trade here and they won't even have to trade their #1 prospect for Burnes. Rangers get: Burnes Brewers get: White, Leiter and Saggese. In this trade the Brewers receive a really good starter in White and a huge question mark in Leiter along with INF Saggese. I know everyone is going to question why is Leiter a huge question mark? Well take a look at his stats in AA they have been absolutely horrible. In AA in 133.2 IP Leiter is at a 5.12 ERA, 1.519 WHIP. 5.6 BB9, 8.1 H9 and 11.2 SO9. While the K's are good the hits and walks are absolutely horrible. I think Leiter drops out of the top 100 at least for MLB.com once that is updated again. Leiter just doesn't look good at all so why would the Brewers want him in a trade for Burnes? Because he has been so bad he is actually attainable in a trade for Burnes and I believe the Brewers would think they can fix him and get him closer to what he looked like when he was drafted 2nd overall.
  4. They blew nothing by not drafting Wagner last year. He is a K machine and is currently sitting at .226 / .376 / .431 in A+ with 44 K's. I don't think he will be a MLB regular at best he is going to be a bench bat if he even makes it to MLB.
  5. Peralta needs to be removed from the rotation or at least have someone come in and be an opener for him.
  6. I doubt Hopkins would be interested in coming to the Packers. Probably would want to go somewhere with a higher Super Bowl chance. I think he goes to the Chiefs, Bengals, Eagles or Jets.
  7. Taylor is a SS as much as Braun was a SS. Unless your name is clancy then Taylor is not a SS.
  8. Miller is coming off an injury to his hamate. He really hasn't looked like the hitter he was last year since the injury. If you want a corner IF Schanuel is probably the guy you want. Brayden Taylor is another corner IF who has slipped he was considered a top 10 pick early on but with his early play he played out of a top 10 pick but he has come roaring back. I think K's maybe a problem for Taylor once he starts playing in the upper minors and MLB but his bat is legit. He has 25+ HR potential and he is solid at 3B he could also play 2B though he is not really quick enough to play there. Schanuel you may be able to get under slot which should allow the Brewers to go more aggressive with their other picks. I like Taylor and Schanuel over Miller. The Brewers could also go with Yohandy Morales who looks like he has slipped out of the 1st round and should be there for the Brewers competitive balance pick at 33.
  9. The peak of the attendance is going to be on day one and that is going to be where the vast majority are coming to watch the draft. The figures for each day were 125k day 1, 84k day 2 and 100k day 3 in KC https://fox4kc.com/sports/nfl-draft/nfl-draft-records-over-300000-people-in-attendance/. The day 3 looks like it should be day 2 maybe it was higher because it was a Saturday and there were more families at the event for that day. I am still not convinced that area will be big enough to take on 125k and I doubt the Packers bring in 150k people on game days. Probably closer to 80k including the fans in the stadium.
  10. The Brewers replaced the original scoreboard in 2011. This will be the second scoreboard update. It looks like the lifespan for this is about 10-years. Which seems about right for the size of these things. This would be the equivalent of you changing your TV every 10 years or so. I still have my TV from 2008 but it is on its death bed.
  11. What is even crazier is Trea Turner's slash line: .250 / .295 / .392
  12. Yes and most of the time it is something that isn’t all that visible to the public. This is very visible there is no hiding this. I am extremely confident the state would just pass a new tax for this instead of letting it default.
  13. Not made up look it up if you don’t believe me most states have laws where the landlord must fix something that is damaged. In Arizona it is A.R.S. §33-1363
  14. Yes there is this is called the arbitration process which is a standard practice in lease agreements. The Brewers would win the arbitration case and the district would either have to pay for the repairs or they would have to default on it. I doubt the state will allow an arm of the government to default when they can just raise taxes to fix the issue. All of this would cost more than doing the repairs. So doing the repairs is basically what the district will do. There will be a new tax added on from the state. If the stairs collapse then the house becomes condemned as being unlivable. It would have to be repaired or the house gets demolished. It is basically forcing the landlord to build the new stairs. The Brewers situation is more like the plumbing is not working which the landlord has an obligation to fix. In some cities there are required repairs that have to be made basically the landlord has to make the repairs there is no other option. In Phoenix if the AC goes out the landlord has to fix the AC and also pay for a hotel or forfeit the rent for that month. The AC has to be fixed there is no other option in this scenario.
  15. I am using the state as not the state of Wisconsin but as the government as a whole. I believe the district is basically an arm of the government so therefore falls into the states jurisdiction. The Brewers could easily sue the district and the state as I believe the state is the guarantor of the district. The state being either the county of Milwaukee or the state of Wisconsin probably the county of Milwaukee unless the district is seen as a state owned entity. The Brewers can force the payment as the district is legally liable to pay for its portion of the repairs. If the district can not pay its portion then the state would have to step in to pay what the district is not able to pay. The best outcome in my opinion is for the district to sell the stadium and the area to the Brewers. This would force the Brewers to pay for the repairs. Basically sell the stadium and the property to the Brewers minus the agreed upon repairs that are needed. I don't see the Brewers leaving and something will get worked out but that is more than likely going to come at the expense of the tax payers.
  16. The Rays have been doing this for the past 10 or so years now. They have been basically just churning out prospect after prospect and then trading them once they are close to FA. It may not work exactly 100% of the time but the Brewers only need to be successful once or twice. Basically they need to keep on developing MLB talent which they have been able to do recently with Mitchell, Wiemer and Turang. Then make trades for players like Adames and Urias when needed. Pitching is always the hard part and no team in MLB has really got this consistently correct. The Guardians and the Rays have been the best but it is not perfect and they have hit some bumps here and there on their players. The Brewers definitely believe they can trade their players and continue to be successful without going through a full on rebuild like the Orioles and Cubs have done. The Cubs problem after they trading their superstars away they didn't have anything in their farm system it was completely barren. The Cubs went scorched earth tactics on their farm system to win a World Series. They won one but they absolutely destroyed their farm system in doing so. This is why the Cubs are stuck in mediocrity right now and it is something the Brewers are trying to avoid. I think the Brewers want to keep their payroll on average around $90-100m which allows them to go over when needed. Top players normally bring over AA or A+ level prospects. I don't see the Brewers trading Burnes, Woodruff or Adames for players below A+ at least not the main piece(s) coming over. The headliner in a trade for Burnes or Adames will more than likely be a player in AA which means that player normally is only one or two years away at most. So yes the Brewers are still thinking they can compete even after trading Burnes, Woodruff and Adames.
  17. Except the State can't tell the Brewers to go pound sand. The State has a legal obligation in a binding contract to make these repairs. The State has to make the repairs according to the contract that they have made with the Brewers. The Brewers could sue the State and they would win and the State would have to pay for its portion of the repairs. Either they pay for the repairs or they get sued to pay for the repairs either way the State is paying for its portion of the repairs.
  18. Even if it was something crazy like 70% came from the Missouri and Kansas area that would be about 220k people that still leaves about 90k people visiting from out of the area. I still have doubts that GB will be able to hold this many people. I would not want to be anywhere near GB during the NFL draft.
  19. If the Brewers fall out of contention then I think Adames is the one who gets moved. I still think it is the Dodgers and I think they could still get someone like Stone and another prospect or two for Adames. The only other possible SS who could be available would be Tim Anderson. Anderson is playing worse than Adames is and Adames isn't really playing all that bad and he has had more bad luck. Adames xwOBA is at .319 so I think Adames should have better stats than he currently has. If Adames starts to play more towards his xwOBA I think he gets back into the 100+ wRC+ range. Which puts him back to where he was last year and if you add that to his defense you have a 4 WAR player. That puts Adames at about a surplus value somewhere around $35-40m. The Dodgers have already shown interest in Adames earlier this year so I wouldn't be surprised if they check in around the deadline if the Brewers are out of it. If Adames is hitting like his stats say he should be then a Stone+ package for Adames is extremely likely. I think the Dodgers would prefer to keep Busch over Stone. Something like Stone, Frasso and Vivas makes some sense here.
  20. I still think the Brewers go pitcher in the first round. Keith Law has Hurston Waldrep mocked to the Brewers at 18. He hasn't pitched all that great so far this year in Florida but the stuff is top of the rotation stuff. If he falls to the Brewers I think that will be the pick. Matt Shaw is another name being thrown around with the 18th pick. I am not sure on Shaw he looks to be a 2B/LF. Shaw is an average everything basically. He should top out around the 25 HR mark and hit about .275. His skills are about average as they come. A name to watch is Nolan Schanuel. He has power and he doesn't K all that much but he plays in Conference USA so some of his numbers need to be taken with the proverbial grain of salt. He is also a 1B only and probably more of a DH. This is Schanuel's stat line so far at Florida Atlantic: .460/.623/.888 I don't see the Brewers going the HS route as Turang (2018) was the last time the Brewers took a HS player. But if the Brewers do go with a HS player it maybe someone like Colt Emersson (SS), Kevin McGonigle (SS) or Blake Mitchell (C). McGonigle sounds similar to Turang when he was drafted. Keith Law suggested Dillon Head (OF) for the Rays but I think that is another name to watch for the Brewers. He is another type of player that the Brewers have been drafting recently. I am hoping Waldrep drops in the draft as that would be the perfect draft for the Brewers. Waldrep preseason was in the top 10 and some discussion of him being drafted in the top 5 picks.
  21. Except GB only has about 5k hotel rooms total. That will fill up quickly. A total of 312k fans were in KC this year. That is almost three times the population of GB. Let’s say it was only 140k out of state fans that came. That means you have to expand the hotel range to as far as the Sheboygan area which is about an hour to GB. Hotel accommodation will be a problem. Maybe the NFL is thinking it will be more like the Cleveland numbers which was only 160k in 2021 or closer to Chicago numbers of 200k in 2015. Also getting into GB can be a pain when the Packers are at home or it was the last time I was in the GB area during a home game in 2016. I am not sure the GB area can even hold 300k people. Especially near Lambeau.
  22. Except GB doesn’t have the hotel capacity for this. I doubt many are going to be willing to stay 30-45 minutes away from the event. Some will but the majority are going to have to do the Airbnb thing if they want to be close to the event. Transportation will also be a nightmare. Not to mention majority that will be flying in will be coming from Chicago or Milwaukee. Plus the weather normally sucks around the time the draft is on. It could possibly be snowing when the draft happens. That would be a disaster.
  23. Since the city owns the property and the Brewers are just leasing the city has to pay for the repairs or at least the majority of them. Cities shouldn’t be owning stadiums. That should be on the teams. It also makes it harder for a team to leave if they own the stadium.
  24. Hah I got hit by a lot of pitches and the only ones that didn’t hurt were the ones that hit your butt. Everywhere else hurts for awhile especially the foot or leg areas. Surprisingly the least hurtful are the more scary ones those go away quickly. Hands, feet and leg area linger for awhile.
  25. And by Rea and Houser as the starting pitchers?
