  1. Thomas Sowell proved this in one of his books. https://www.aei.org/carpe-diem/thomas-sowell-on-the-relationship-between-tax-rates-and-tax-revenues/
  2. Alfonso Soriano would like to have a word with you.
  3. LOL that was just funny almost Ozuna funny in the OF.
  4. That doesn't matter if it is in the same area as other countries it is still way to high. The US needs to get inflation back down to the 4-6% marks. Preferably 4 or below is the perfect spot to be sitting at. The rate of inflation needs to drop by about 3-5% otherwise it is going to be a huge problem that no one wants to see or experience.
  5. I think Mancini is closer to a .360 OBP player than what his career line suggests. This is only his 2nd year back and he is currently at a .363 OBP, which ranks about 30th in all of MLB. The Brewers need more players who can get on base not really power. I think you are over estimating Bell's value and what teams will be looking for. I don't see a vast market for Bell where it is going to create a huge bidding war. He is an upcoming free agent and recent trade deadlines have shown these players do not bring back all that much. The Cubs only got Kilian and Canario for Bryant last year. That is not a big haul for someone like Bryant who is a better player than Bell is. Bell is only going to bring back a teams 15-20th ranked prospect in their system. Bell, Benintendi and Mancini are basically the same players value wise on the trade market.
  6. Some scouting reports: MLB: Keith Law: If anything he is probably somewhere around a 3rd or 4th round pick and will probably be someone's senior sign. The power is there but with his swing he is going to strike out a lot. He did cut down his strikeout rate by 10% this year which is good but once he starts seeing better pitchers that strikeout rate is more than likely going to be at 40%+. The power is there and he will hit a lot of home runs but the biggest question mark for him offensively is if he will be able to keep his strikeout rate down enough. He would be fine as a 3rd or 4th round pick but any higher than that it would be a waste of a pick.
  7. We don't have a free market and one of the key contributors to inflation is government spending. Increasing taxes would not be a good idea at this time or any time in the future. There are only two countries that follow a free market and that is Switzerland and Singapore. Switzerland currently has an inflation rate of 2.9 and Singapore has an inflation rate of 5.4. So free markets do tend to regulate inflation fairly well. Studies have found that lowering taxes actually increases revenue for the government while increasing taxes lowers revenue. There are less people who pay the higher taxes and normally just avoid them through loopholes. The only way you can increase revenue on taxes is by taxing the middle and lower class more. This has been proven in every European state. The majority of the taxes that the European countries get their revenue from are the lower and middle class. While the European countries have higher upper class taxes the revenue from those is lower than that of what the lower and middle class provide even at a 90% tax rate. The higher the tax rate goes the less and less people you will have to tax thus the lower and middle class also see an increase in their taxes to replace those loses in revenue. The best option to lower inflation would be to lower government spending. By that I mean slashing the budget by nearly 75% of what it is now would be a good start. If you are serious about getting inflation under control you have to make cuts in the current government spending. This is not going to happen so we are going to be stuck with 6-8% inflation until our government wakes up and actually does the right thing.
  8. I still believe Mancini is probably the perfect target for the Brewers. He doesn't strike out all that much and gets on base at a good rate. He doesn't provide much power but it is enough and would be a good platoon partner with McCutchen at DH and could replace Tellez against lefties when Tellez needs a day off. The perfect trade would be for Bell as he fixes the DH spot against RHP and would fit in a platoon perfectly with McCutchen. Another option would be Cooper but I am not sure if the Marlins would part with him or not. He would also be a good platoon partner with McCutchen at DH. Benintendi is also another target but I am not sure where he would fit on the team.
  9. Almora is a better option if the Brewers were to trade for someone from the Reds.
  10. Ivan Melendez is basically a Chris Carter or Joey Gallo type of a player more so Carter than Gallo because he is limited to DH or 1B only. He should put up 35+ HR's a year but he is also going to strikeout 150+ times a year. That should put him in the 3rd or 4th round. If the Brewers think they can sign him for below slot then the comp B pick would be fine also. For example if you think someone like Loftin will be available with the 3rd pick then take Mendez and sign him for below slot and try and overspend on the 3rd round pick.
  11. Nope actually not even close. The Brewers are at 6.48 and that is not even close to the top 10 teams with runners left on base per game. Mariners (7.40), Cubs (7.19), Rockies (7.16), Padres (7.14) Red Sox (7.06), Cardinals (7.04), Royals (7.0), Mets (6.99), White Sox (6.94) and Dodgers (6.92). That is your top 10 with runners left on base per game. Actually a higher number of runners left on base is good as it means you are putting more runners on and increasing your chances to score. A lower runners left on base is actually bad and you should really be looking at total number of runs scored and the runners left on base. A lot of your teams that score a lot of runs leave a lot of runners on base as not every runner is going to score all of the time. The more chances you get with runners provides a higher probability of scoring runs.
  12. Flaherty doesn't look right and his velocity is way down. I don't think he is fully healthy right now.
  13. FYI game is free on MLB.TV today if you are outside the Brewers and Cardinals market that is.
  14. Not news but is it time to start treating the Yankees stadium for left handed hitters like Coors? Check out Rizzo's stat line he was declining in SLG in 2020 and 2021 with his age. He is now slugging at a .500 clip again. Is this the Yankee stadium effect?
  15. If you say what are you looking for after saying you read the resume you obviously did not read the resume. Kind of a rant here sorry but this is a pet peeve of mine. If you say you read something then you shouldn't be asking what are you looking for. The resume tells you what the person is doing. The question should be are you willing to work in a different industry or profession. Not what are you looking for. It just makes you sound lazy and that you didn't even look at the resume. I know the recruiters can't possibly look at every resume but please do not say you looked at it when you didn't. It comes off as shady and makes you sound lazy and sleazy.
  16. I am not sure how the Bucks could move up in the draft without trading Middleton and I am not sure how much of a jump they could get with Lopez so it would have to be Middleton in a trade.
  17. Keith Law has a new mock up: https://theathletic.com/3374301/2022/06/21/mlb-mock-draft-druw-jones/ He has the Brewers taking Adam Mazur, RHP, Iowa. This would be a good pick if the Brewers go with Mazur he is a 92-95 MPH pitcher who can go deep into games with that velocity. He has a good fastball and can locate it consistently. He does have an out pitch with a slider though his other offerings are just average to above average. He will probably struggle with left handed hitters so he is probably more of #3 pitcher if everything goes right but more than likely will be a #4 or #5 type pitcher. Where the Brewers are drafting this is basically what you can expect unless someone drops like Rocker and even Rocker has some issues where he may only be a reliever because of his control issues. This draft is a weird one where there really isn't a college pitcher who is a dominant must draft pitcher. If the Brewers go pitcher it will be with a college pitcher and I think Mazur would be one of the pitchers the Brewers would be looking at. If one of the college bats drop like Beck that maybe the pick also. I am hoping for Williams to drop as that would be an awesome pick as he has been mocked in the 12-17 range.
  18. It was a bad throw to be honest. It was to high and down the line. The catcher wouldn’t have been able to make a tag on that throw in time.
  19. The discussion wasn't about promoting Turang this year it was about 2023. Not sure why you are never ever able to follow a thread it is like you read one word and that is it.
  20. You don't have to keep the player you draft. Basically there is a loop hole where you can trade the player which is basically trading the pick but you are trading the player instead of the pick.
  21. They can trade it during the draft. Basically they will select the player that the team they are trading the pick to so "technically" it is trading the player and not the draft pick.
  22. The Brewers were also heavily involved with Machado just that the Orioles didn't like the prospects the Brewers had for a Machado trade compared to what the Dodgers offered. Turang will be fine in MLB as he will be hitting towards the bottom of the order having a sub .700 OPS batting 8th or 9th is perfectly fine in MLB. Turang should also be able to provide defense as good as Wong has provided for the Brewers. Severino is an interesting trade piece. There are a few teams that could benefit from him at catcher like the White Sox and Giants. Yes he won't be playoff eligible but both the White Sox and Giants are not getting much if anything from their current catchers. The Giants currently have Bart hitting .156/.296/.300 and Casali at .237/.318/.398 and the White Sox have McGuire at .239/.286/.303 and Grandal at .185/.294/.237. Maybe a team doesn't trade for him but there are definitely teams out there that would trade for him to be the backup catcher on their team even if it means he doesn't play for them in the playoffs. If a team believes he can help them in the regular season to make the playoffs they will make the trade. He won't bring much back in a trade but that would have been true even if he wasn't suspended from the playoffs. At best you are looking at a AAAA player or an extreme lottery ticket. Teams don't just make trades for players that they believe will be on their playoff roster and they do make trades for players who they think will help them make the playoffs and will not be on the playoff roster. Probably an impossible trade but Severino would be the best catcher offensively on the Cardinals right now. The two main Cardinals catchers are hitting: .196/.295/.262 and .213/.225/.294. Also the only major catcher available looks to be Wilson Contreras and I doubt the Cubs trade him to the Cardinals.
  23. Votto looks like he is ready to retire or at least his play is looking like he should retire.
  24. The draft and follow is now back.
  25. Tampa looking really bad.
