  1. A lot of these guys are “SS” and they throw out who and sees who sticks. The other is without video it’s hard to know is it an error in the routine play that is missed, or a good play that they can’t stick (like good range but just can’t handle it, or bad throw because you know footwork). Obviously a bunch of errors is a bunch of errors but some can be “fixed” with technique or experience, some via a move to 2B/3B/OF, and some are just problematic in a Tyler Black way. Either way these 18-20 yo have time but yeah, Pratt, Areinamo, DiTuri are the clear “can handle SS in the long term” players right now. Also I love looking up the players in the DSL - more than half maybe 3/4 are listed as SS.
  2. Wow after an amazing night in the affiliates yesterday - today not so much. CF Rodriguez ran into trouble (havne't watched tonight), but was apparently cruising then 5 runs in 2 innings with Memphis still batting. And offensively one hit (Mejia grand slam HR in the first). Knoth a short outing and the Muddies not doing much. TRats down 3-1 with only a few hits. Shuckers struggling to get offense going as well, and Shane Smith laboring with 75 pitches in 3 IP. The ACL Crew are winning, but 4 runs on only 2 hits (Bitonti and Gomez with singles), but Prado having his best pro outing so far I think
  3. Man that play off Warren;s glove to O’Rae was wild. I watched and was thinking “dang he knocked it down and ORae had to eat it since no one was covering”. The butter looked confused and amused almost. And when he just stopped I realized something happened and had to rewatch. Great play. O”Rae muffed a hard hit ground ball pseudo line drive. I’ve watched him some. Seems to make most routine plays, not a liability in the field on my limited viewing. Offensively no pop but sure knows how to find ways to get on base.
  4. Biloxi and Wisconsin looking good. Biloxi in the 9th with a 10-2 lead after Yoho just dominates in relief. And Wisconsin looking good with Root keeping the off the board, and TRats up in the bottom of 8. Ashby just walked in a run, and looks like he can find the plate. That is the recurring theme. Fastball is 94, and pitches move but he just can't locate. Not sure if it is physical (from his injury/surgery) or just mental, but he is a mess. Looks unhittable but then can't find the zone and gets hittable. Feel bad for him and this season is just a lost one. So looking less likely as we will have an MiLB sweep tonight, but the Nashville/Memphis games have been really wild, so we will see. I am signing off. And it's now 7-3 Memphis on a wild play where the runner is out at first and stepped on Black, and he was hurt, and the Redbird runner scores, not sure if that's not a dead ball??? Ashby gives up a hit, and looks gassed, but gets out of the inning. It's 8-3. Great comeback and solid relief outing for the Mudcats earlier. I'm heading off. Good night all. Great games for the most part, outside of the game so far in Nashville.
  5. Some bad defense. Black (yeah surprise) lets a grounder go under him, for a hit in Nashville. Ugh. Then O'Rae lets a liner get past him, and Yoho has a base runner, but should be 2 out.
  6. CD Rodriguez with a single up the middle and another insurance run for the Shuckers. Wilken up. Let's go Brock. And a two run double by Wilken, with a borderline fair ball. The umps are not making friends with the MBraves. But it's 10-2 Shuckers yay!! Collins draws a walk 4-3 Memphis still up and Hicklen up. Let's get this going Brewer. Full count, and deep fly out, missed it by a few feet or maybe a few yards, can't tell by the feed. Oh well got a run back.
  7. And... just as Chris Edwards says Disla is a candidate to ground into a double play, next pitch, Pratt to first, DP. Mudcats win!! No hit or walk for Pratt. On base streak ends, but I think he'll take starting the game ending double play. Meanwhile Nashville trying to make this interesting. Bases juiced with 2 outs.
  8. Yoho slams the door by making the hitter look silly. Just overmatched, and it's still 7-2. A runner on first with a broken bat single, and it's 1 out, runner on first with Dikember Sanchez trying to close it out. Now at 38 pitches. Time out, injury to catcher D. Garcia - hit on a foul ball right where it hurts. Ouch.
  9. Crazy play in Mississippi. Line ball off Warren's (1b) glove into O'Rae (2b) and it's a line out. Your typical 3-4 line out right? Ashby gives up a run, 4-2 Memphis, ugh, but gets out of the inning. Dikember Sanchez on to close it out in Zebulon. M-Braves get a few singles now after that crazy play and it's 7-2 Shuckers in the bottom of 7. And that's a pitching change. TRats in cruise control
  10. Briceno singles, and runners on 1st and 2nd in the bottom of the 8th, DiTuri up. Need two more to get on to get Pratt another at bat. Still 6-4 Muddies. But DiTuri grounds out. Root on trying to keep the TRats up. Merkel still on for the Shuckers. Not much happening in Nashville yet since the delay. But Ashby is on - oh boy
  11. Wilken with a bases loaded walk. 5-1 Shuckers. Miller strikes out. EBJ walks, and it's 6-1. While Adams walks (I think) then a single by Wood, runners on the corners. And Sanchez still dealing in the 8th with Mudcats clinging to a 6-4 lead.
  12. Sparks with a triple, and Shuckers extend the lead 4-1 Meanshile Fitz in trouble in Wisconsin trying to escape a base loaded jam... and pitch #80 fly ball to LF. On to the bottom of 5, still 8-0 TRats!
  13. So in reading the comments I just realized you can have more than one game going on your computer. And I'm watching the different games, and I am clearly a rookie at this, nowhere near as good as @Joseph Zarr and others, so I making all kinds of errors in my reporting. Sorry 😌
  14. Single by Sparks, O'Rae single, then CDRod legs out a grounder to avoid the DP, and Sparks to third, hard hit single by Wilken ties it up 1-1. Nice job. Miller gets a walk (surprise, right). Then EBJ of all people lines to RF, adn it's a 3-1 Shuckers lead. Merkel on for Henderson to try to hold the lead. And keeps it 3-1, on to the 7th
  15. My bad again. I thought it hopped over the wall for a ground rule 2B, but I see that now. Either way, he ripped it.
  16. The TRats are going again. Sac Fly by Fernandez, then stolen base and Lara gets a 2 run single. 8-0 Wisconsin.
  17. Whew. Bases loaded jam and Nova strikes the man out keeps it 4-4 game in the 6th. Bottom 6 - Reece Walling double. David Garcia with a double, 5-4 Muddies. Castillo strikes out. But Y. Garcia with a single it's not 6-4 Muddies
  18. Wow he lasered that out. After a great single by Areinamo. Adams just has so much fun playing doesn't he?
  19. Not to mention the muffed plays by Hernandez and Zamora. He gets hit hard on some pitches, but weak contact on others. Hall can look great for a batter or two, but then gets hit. He is frustrating. Not sure what to do with him
  20. Hall - can he be optioned to stay in AAA? The other option is put him in the bullpen to work on his pitching?
  21. Biloxi and the ACL squad are the only ones with a losing record. And Biloxi could have a solid second half if the offense (Boeve, Wilken, CDRod, ORae, Miller) can stay consistent as the talent is there, and with strong performances by the pitching crew (Blalock, Henderson, Miz and Smith). ACL not as big of a concern as far as records. Nashville is around .500 and could go up or down. But the W-L for a team is not as important as player development, but the system having success and winning game WHILE developing players is exciting!
  22. Sorry meant to be sarcasm font. I think given how awesome his start has been, when you look at his monthly splits it just sticks out - but yes one good game tomorrow or the next day and all is well. I know he will be well. Seriously you take away the first 3 games of the ACL season and his last three games, his numbers are incredibly silly good.
  23. Bitonti struggling this month. Now 1-9 with 6K in July. 🙁 Yes small sample size, and I’m just impatient but want him to just take and force himself to the Mudcats. Also can we continue to talk about Melvin Hernandez, happy belated birthday young man, just 18 years and 1 day old, and 39 K in 37 IP in 9 games. That’s 4 IP per appearance, which is a lot for the complex. I am hopeful he can be next years M. Rodriguez or E. Cortez. He’s listed as 5’ 11” and 139 😳😳. Maybe a growth spurt gets him some more size and years of development ahead.
  24. DSL boys scoring runs aplenty. DSL-2 with 2 TDs 9(14 runs, however only on 7 hits, but Royals giving 14 free passes and 2 errors wow). DSL-1 only a TD on 8 hits. Made had a nice day 3-3 with a walk. And Peña “only” 1-4 with a double, …. And checks box score …. Yup a stolen base. Good grief #24 in 20 games. And fun fact - he has as many doubles (7) as strikeouts (7), and more walk/HBP (5 and 3 for a totals of 8) than strikeouts. Sheesh. This is a very offense friendly league, and a lot of wild pitching, wild defense, se numbers are off the charts even factoring in all these things. ACL boys trying to keep pace with 4 runs in 2 innings. Bitonti in a mini “slump” as he’s 1-7 this month so far with 4 K (0-1 with a walk today). Maybe he’s bummed he hasn’t gotten the call to Zebulon😉 - c’mon big fella let’s get a few big hits and force the issue Jospeh and I both with DSL posts, but highlight different players - says a lot of the DSl squads that we can both highlight different players of note😳
