  1. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong. I can’t remember signing an entire draft class in 10+ years, except I think there was a weird pandemic year where they only made 5 picks. I think they typically spend 1-2 months negotiating until it becomes clear who is not signing, or something like that, it takes awhile.
  2. CJ Cron numbers are pretty bad this year and he’s playing in COL. I think COL would send him our way if we just asked nicely and took his contract. I was going to post about how I don’t even want him but then I remembered how awful our 1B/DH have been and decided a consistent 80 wRC+ from Cron sounds kind of ok.
  3. I can’t believe how much hate there is here for Wiemer and his rookie season of 1.4 WAR so far and 84 wRC+. Go look at Turang stats if you want to see what a garbage hitting rookie looks like. Wiemer remains one of our most promising young players, even if he’s had some hot and cold stretches.
  4. I've heard some people say this feels forced with his poor numbers on the year. But I'm told he's been doing well lately and this could be a short stay at the MLB level if it doesn't work, so I'm all for it. I think seeing MLB pitching for at least a few weeks would be good for him. Or hopefully he just hits 300 and stays.
  5. I’m trying to figure out what my take is here and I think it’s that we are just middle of the road overall. If you did a similar list again next year then Burnes would drop off and we will look worse. It would be great if Wiemer/Mitchell/Turang could continue to contribute with someone taking the next step into above average territory, that would also buck the trend of us failing to develop hitters for a long time and help the offense.
  6. I love this draft and everything they did with it. I hope they find a way to use all their money though. I hate leaving equity on the table.
  7. I was never a huge fan of Turang’s bat as a prospect and he just got sent down to AAA because of his 56 wRC+. I don’t know how anyone can feel good about plugging him in as the every day starter right now, or at any point until he shows some better hitting.
  8. Of our upcoming FAs Adames is the one I would really try to sign. He’s starting to look affordable and the SS position could get ugly without him.
  9. I wouldn’t mind selling Yelich and Adames to the Dodgers. Adames is having a down year, assumed we would hold him through the year, buy/sell/hold.
  10. He basically said “I hope I get drafted as soon as possible and sign”. Not sure if he will go for absolute minimum but definitely will be cheap.
  11. Overall though this is my favorite draft in some time. I liked the day 1 picks, I liked that they added some high school talent, I loved that they went hard on some bat first players, I liked that they managed to get 5 players that are reasonably high end prospects, with 1 or 2 additional wild cards.
  12. Wow 1 more head turner with Pratt. As others have mentioned they basically always sign them in the first 10 rounds so they must have a plan to get it done. There are no guarantees but I would definitely bet on it. also, interesting theme. High school and 3B is really stealing the show.
  13. Birchard, looked like a signability guy, but it looks like he’s a 19 year old JUCO with an Oregon commitment, so probably will not be cheap
  14. I fully support an under slot pick here to add high end quality
  15. Wow another HS, he is 17 years old. Not sure if this is just the FO taking the best player, or going young on purpose because they don’t think the MLB team is all that close.
  16. Just googled a list and yeah this is the hitter everyone is going to want. As a 3B/1B/DH everyone can find him a home. Rounding out the top 13 is SS and C (limited markets) then you get into high risk players like Bellinger and Lane Thomas.
  17. I was leaning Quero but didn’t want to say it 😂 I don’t know if Wiemer still qualifies, if so he would be in the running for me. The power/speed/defense at the MLB level really gives him a leg up compared to AA players.
  18. Tough crowd. 70 grade fastball, 70 grade slider, what’s not to like. And for MLB debut, pretty hard to be eye popping as a RP, really just looking for him not to get lit up.
  19. I think it happened a lot in the 2009-15 time frame but hasn’t been a theme in more recent years
  20. Glad we are willing to take a HS pitcher sort of early if the right guy is there
  21. Overall though I do think the FO kind of hates him as a high strikeout low utility guy, but they haven’t found a reason to get rid of him
  22. I've wanted this guy for a couple years now. I feel like they are probably buying high at this point, but if they can get it done without too much cost I'm all for it.
  23. They are probably trying to trade him (again, most likely).
  24. Chourio is completely floundering in AA this year. He’s going to plummet down the prospect lists. He doesn’t have the pedigree or enough history to be able to have a bad year and still stick as a top 10 prospect.
  25. Quero is looking like the real deal. Moving to AA and looking stronger than ever means he's prime to rocket up the prospect lists. Some of his underlying numbers are very strong, BB% K% BABIP. If he keeps up his pace he will be a top 3 org prospect pretty easily soon. These days for MiLB prospects I love to see low K rate, solid average, and if possible 5 to 10 HR per year which can often grow to 30 a few years into a MLB career so he checks all the boxes for me.
