  1. Yes, but it looks like the leg kick is still present. Maybe it's not as pronounced--and maybe it's the same--but it's still there. Perhaps he has changed it up enough to better his timing. (Hey, and now he takes a base on balls!)
  2. This is kind of disappointing to hear. Unfortunately, the lack of a proper, full spring training will likely attribute to this injury and many other similar incidents throughout the league. I hope he rests properly and can get back to full strength by the end of April, at the latest. Leg injuries need rest, and ballplayers have a tough time doing that and seem to re-aggravate things by thinking it feels okay when it really has not fully healed.
  3. Samurai Bucky, you are not the only one. I loved it because I always baffled everyone by calling the opposite field instead of the pull side and constantly hit it the other way. good memories….
  4. It’s not over yet!
  5. Gosh, I actually remembered a bunch of those Lofton highlights! He really was good! (When I was a kid, I really liked John Jefferson better, but what did I know???)
  6. I completely agree. It felt like a heavyweight title fight for a while. Gotta give Colgate some credit. They are a very good club! For a while, I thought maybe the Badgers were emulating the Packers in not being able to win a big post-season game on a (basically) home court. Iowa State won't be a cakewalk, either. They are going to be battered and bruised after Sunday's game, win or lose.
  7. Certainly been an interesting (and fast!) first half. If either team could hit some shots, they’d have a nice lead. I like that the refs are letting them play; which means the second half will go completely the opposite ?
  8. I would agree with KeithStone53151. We've heard for at least a year (or two?) how Josh Hader was working on another pitch and how good it is, etc. But he's barely used it in games that count. Go with what you got you there, right?
  9. I don't think it's a big deal, really. It seems that just about every team has been affected in similar fashion. I think I even read that Counsell said something along the lines of, "We'll suck it up."
  10. I have no statistics to back this up, but I really feel he is due for a bit of a resurgence this year, especially if the Brewers are playing first place ball all year. I’m thinking something along the lines of .275, 25 HR, .825 OPS, and maybe even 2.5 WAR. I think I’d be thrilled to get that out of him.
  11. I have to think that there are some buyouts or escape clauses after a year or two. I have to think Bryant is looking for something in a year or two when the market or the new CBA has had some time to mature and he can better dictate where he wants to go. There was also a bit of inpatience in him to sign so he can get to playing.
  12. Just watch, this will be one of those weird seasons in which we don’t face a LH starter until game 33 of the season and end up with a grand total of 30 games vs a LH starter. That’d be kinda funny.
  13. Uh, yeah! I can't like this post more! It is insane how simple this could be done, but still baseball refuses to keep everyone in the dark. I mean, they could even just have the umps call up the press box and tell what's going on. It would take 30 seconds.
  14. 1.) Where are you from? Fond du Lac until junior year of HS; then Black River Falls to finish up; Decorah, IA for college, and now living in Kingman, AZ as an elementary music teacher (five years to retirement, five years to retirement, five years to . . . . ) 2.) Age Range: I am presently enjoying my 50th trip around the sun (which makes me 49--you wouldn't believe how many people got that wrong when I announced that on my birthday this year) 3.) How long have you been frequenting Brewerfan.net? Since 2004 or so. Using Hawing's line: Got roped in as staff in 2007 or 2008. Wish I could do more, but I visit the site daily 4.) Highest level of baseball/softball played? Didn't play organized baseball until high school, but probably played ball in the vacant lot behind my house every day of every summer for about 10 years as a kid. Ended up as the starting centerfielder by my senior year with some LH pitching in there now and then. I walked on in college and promptly walked off about three weeks in when we had a practice in the gymnasium and I couldn't see the ball in the yellow gym lights (never could--even in high school) and took one right in the noggin while throwing the ball around. Haven't played much since, but still love the game and love a good game of (outdoor) catch. 5.) Favorite Brewers Player, and favorite underappreciated Brewers player, and if you want, favorite current Brewers player? Always loved Jim Gantner. Also fond of Ben Sheets, Geoff Jenkins, Jeff Cirillo, Paul Molitor, Robin Yount, Gorman Thomas, Cecil Cooper, Prince Fielder, Ryan Braun, Moose Haas, Corbin Burnes, and Craig Counsell. 6.) Favorite Twitter follows? I have never tweeted but I do follow the Brewers writers for their information. Plus some fantasy football stuff. And Andrew Siciliano. But that's it. Sports stuff is the only reason I use Twitter. 7.) Other interests outside of baseball: Football, fantasy football, College hoops, baseball cards, video games, movies, karaoke, poker/playing cards, camping, cooking, betting on football and horses, going on walks, and PITCH League Baseball (the 30-team Diamond Mind Baseball league that my cousin and I run) 8.) Favorite part of Brewerfan.net: I can come here to read up on stuff and get good, solid information. I don't have to put up with trolls and vulgarity. I can truly be a fan, even if that means I just read other peoples' posts. Hopefully with the transition, I will be invigorated to get back into the swing of things here.
  15. I like this signing, contrary to other thoughts here on the board. It's not flashy but it fills in a need (RH hitter that hits LHP well) and can't really be worse than Yelich in LF when pressed into service. I think he has a resurgent year.
  16. Happy to see him back, but he has been very back-and-forth at times. Hopefully he is on another good year swing!
  17. Looks like I am here.
  18. For me, this is the best thing that could happen. Every Monday night during the season, my fantasy football league members get together at someone’s house (each member hosts once, some chose a second time) and we watch the game, talk, and commiserate. But we rarely, if ever, listen to the announcers because we’re having such good conversations (and eating food, at provided by the host.). I think the last time we paid attention to what the announcers had to say was when Dennis Miller was I. the booth. Buck to MNF? Hooray!!!!
  19. Missed bunnies (multiple) just killing them here.
  20. Everybody and their grandma knew Davidson was going to miss that free throw once the announcers glorified how awesome he is at shooting free throws. Quite an amazing season for a team that was preseason #10 in the conference! Should be a fun tourney.
  21. I think you mean Jack Clark. I remember David Green when he was coming up and thought he’d be pretty good if we traded him away for those three key players. It was my first real experience with a blockbuster trade by the Brewers. I kept tabs on Green and the others, expecting at least one of them to break out, but it never happened. RIP
  22. Sigh. Another year. Same ol’ story. Even if they do come back to win, this was another pathetic showing. At home. In the elements. As the number one seed. Some advantage……
  23. My wife, brother, and I, Plus some ASU friends, were planning to go to the game. We waited to buy tickets because we wanted to see prices go down. But, with games being canceled randomly, Covid issues, and the late start for us here in Arizona, we decided we will all just get together at someone’s house and watch the game instead. A bit disappointing, but the end of the world. Go badgers!!!
  24. I don't think this is outlandish, at all! In fact, I told my wife this morning that this whole charade of Urban Meyer's antics this season just reeked of him trying to "George Costanza" it (i.e. trying to get fired on purpose.) The only difference is, Jacksonville didn't have a Lombardi Trophy for Meyer to chain to the bumper of his car and drag it around the parking lot.
  25. Wow. Good for Michigan.
