  1. My first thought was, "They're still . . . " (you can finish the quote from "Major League") I guess there's "some" optimism for next year but I'm not really going to feel it until January or so. Maybe not until spring training starts.
  2. Eh, at least they tied it up. Wonder why no squeeze attempt that time . . . Too predictable??
  3. I'll tell you what . . . . I'm getting pretty tired of seeing "Michael" Gonzalez "pitch" this season.
  4. and shame and disgrace on his family name for generations to come. Probably.
  5. That is a cop-out, but used by a lot of his supporters none the less... It isn't the talent level that makes me question him on a daily basis, it is how he runs the "material he has to work with." He was incompetent when they went to the play-offs two years ago (they won in spite of his stupidity), and he is incompetent when the talent level is lacking. He is a terrible game manager, and I simply can not wait until Attanasio wises up and shows him the door. I don't see this happening any time soon.
  6. pretty good read. Thanks for sharing!
  7. Who's on first! Stop changing the players around! and now, back to your regularly scheduled thread.
  8. Boy, Luc has got to be thinking of smashing something soon. A lot of bad "luck" for him the last couple of days.
  9. Because if there's one thing I've learned from this site and moderating this site, what you are asking people to do is just simply not allowed. (this was supposed to be in blue but the quote and edit functions aren't working.)
  10. I suppose Gord Ash would have to be Dr. Bunson Honeydew.
  11. Statler and Waldorf would be the collective mind of Brewerfan.net. (this is NOT supposed to be a link, so don't click it.) Roenicke would be the Swedish Chef, since so many people can't seem to understand him.
  12. oooh, I forgot about "Noises Off." Yes, I realize it is based off the stage production of the same name, but the movie is hilarious, especially if you've ever been a part of the theater.
  13. UHF The 'Burbs
  14. For about a week now, the forum has been incredibly slow for me. I am running firefox. I also checked on IE (yuck), and chrome and they, too, ran reallllllly slow. I went back to firefox and tried to clear my cache but this was no help. On the other browsers as well as firefox, all other sites load quickly on my 6 mbps high speed internet. But not Brewerfan or LambeauLeap. I checked my laptop, and it's the same problem. My wife's laptop--same problem. My ipad--same problem. So, I'm just wondering if this is a global issue and it's being worked on or if this just a unique issue to me. And if so, I'm not sure what else I can do. It literally takes over a minute (sometimes longer) just to load a page. It's almost like back on dial-up. EDIT: I seem to have fixed things for now. I completely rebooted my router and now the forums seem to open fine. Although the larger threads (What's Bugging You, for instance) still take a while to open.
  15. not making excuses, but he did just have a child. Maybe it's wearing him down a little bit more than normal. I'm not worried about Aoki one bit. I'm pretty sure the Brewers will retain him for another year at that price. If they don't, I will probably start to wonder what is going on in the front office.
  16. I believe when he got canned or whatever (did he resign? I don't remember) he had to sign a non-disclosure agreement or something about the incident and also signed something to prevent him from getting another MLB job for a certain length of time. I don't know any specifics as you can see, but I vaguely remember something similar to this.
  17. maybe. He seems to be fine. I completely understand your argument, though. Glad to see somebody else is awake for this one. Oh, yeah. It's only 9 pm for me. Yay me!
  18. if we're counting television, I would definitely add Seinfeld and Looney Toons shorts.
  19. man, I love that movie. Watch it with the DVD commentary sometime. It's pretty funny.
  20. I just flipped my Brewers calendar to August. (yeah, yeah, I know it took me all day.) This month's Brewer hero is George Kottaras. Now, I understand that the calendars are produced in August or so of every year so they can already get them in stores in September/October. So they are off the hook for Kottaras in that respect, since he was traded in August last year. I've just got a problem with the fact that, of all the players on the 2012 Brewers team, they elected to put the team's back-up catcher on the team calendar???? REALLY?!?!?!? Who was the brainiac that made that call?
  21. Wouldn't the proper way for you to handle that be: "Um........yeah. Don't use language like that in front of my wife."
  22. I'm a lot like some others here. I'll use quotes from so many movies at any given time. Usually someone will say something that just begs to be answered with a line from a great movie (usually a comedy.) And they just come out of me without thinking. Sometimes it has nearly got me into trouble as the "straight man" in the conversation ends up giving me a look to kill and I have to explain that it's a movie quote.
  23. Josh Hamilton has been forgotten in this discussion (unless I missed him while skimming through the posts.) Or does his contract not constitute as a "huge contract?"
  24. Look out. Love or even mild respect for Betancourt is outlawed around these parts. Regardless, expect Melvin to have Yuni on the bench next year at a cheap price. Its hard to take anything you say seriously because I cannot believe you actually think Yuni is a solid choice for this team, or any team for that matter. I'm not sure if this comment was directed at me or not, but I . . . . heck I don't even know what to say. Perhaps I should have used the blue font so others would not have taken the comment so seriously. Or personally.
