  1. Brewers scored zero runs today & DID NOT LOSE.
  2. Just about one third of the way through the season & here’s how the Brewers rank in select offensive splits so far… vsRHP: 745 OPS (5th) Home: 786 OPS (2nd) 2 Strikes: 533 OPS (8th) 2 Outs: 766 OPS (2nd) RISP: 825 OPS (4th) Trailing; 773 OPS (3rd) High Leverage: 807 OPS (3rd) Innings 7-9: 747 OPS (2nd)
  3. I think the best approach is to treat it on an opinion by opinion basis. Like if one person had the opinion the Brewers were good so far this year with RISP and another had the opinion they were bad so far this year with RISP, we could look it up & see their 126 wRC+ with RISP ranks 7th in MLB. Now of course that doesn’t mean they are a true talent 126 wRC+ with RISP team, or that they will maintain that pace/ranking all season, but someone who thinks they’ve been bad so far with RISP wouldn’t have much of a case.
  4. Sometimes I wonder how some of these Brewers fans who get all hot & bothered on the internet over a couple close losses to the Cubbies in the early going of what looks like a 5th consecutive playoff season managed to make it through 1993-2004 (when only the Tigers & two expansion teams won fewer games than the Brewers) without their heads exploding.

  6. Guys know they could lose their job any day now.
  7. Started with Keston vs LHP, ended with McCutchen vs RHP. Baseball is the best.
  8. Had enough already of the team whose incompetent manager has led them to the 5th most wins in MLB while dealing with injuries to Urias, Adames, Renfroe, Peralta & Woodruff. Tough crowd.
  9. Yeah, hoping they go with a weekly playing time distribution something like this once Willy & Hunter are back... Ca: Omar (vs RHP) Caratini (vs LHP) 1B: Rowdy (5) Keston (2) 2B: Wong (6) Jacsseau (1) 3B: Urias (5) Jacsseau (2) SS: Adames (6) Urias (1) LF: Yelich (5) Cutch (2) CF: Taylor (5) Cain (2) RF: Renfroe (6) Taylor (1) DH: Keston (4) Yeli/Rowdy/Cutch (1) Really feel like we need to get Tyrone & Keston as many PAs as possible between now & the trade deadline to gauge how seriously upgrades need to be pursued at CF/DH.
  10. After only starting 15 of the first 43 games, Keston has started five of the last six. Tides may have already started to turn with regards to his playing time. Or maybe it's just a blip.
  11. College pitching is the obvious choice given the current composition of the system, which means it will likely be another hit/run/defense college CF ? Of the guys mentioned though Hjerpe (big K numbers in a major conference) and DeLauter (guy that falls on draft day) seem to fit the recent Stearns & company 1st round MO.

  13. Yeah, WAR is context neutral, though I believe FanGraphs includes a leverage adjustment for relievers. Win Probability Added is context dependent & Hader is an MLB best (among relievers & starters) +2.23 so far. For reference only 36 relievers all last season tallied 1.5 or more rWAR and only 24 topped a +2.23 WPA over the course of 162 games. Over the last 30 years only 4 relievers topped 4.5 rWAR & only 5 topped +6.00 WPA in a single season, so I think the advanced stats are doing a pretty good job of capturing Josh's dominant start. Hopefully Attanasio understands how unique Hader truly is & the Brewers end up as the team that signs him to that record setting contract he has earned.
  14. Right now the 13th/14th pitchers are Strzelecki & Barker. With a few scheduled off days coming up June 6th & 13th I could see the Brewers going back down to 13 pitchers for a spell.
  15. Maybe just like a PR next to the number for Previous Ranking?
  16. I don’t think any of Dahl, Davis, Almonte see MKE unless two of Yelich, Renfroe, Taylor, Cain, McCutchen are hurt at the same time. Even then, as long as it isn’t Cain/TT that are injured simultaneously as the only real CF options, Craig has shown enough faith in Jace playing corner OF that he is prolly the defacto 6th OF at this point.
  17. As for the list itself, congrats to Victor Castaneda & Brandon Knarr for making their first BF Top 20 appearances. Very well deserved with their starts to 2022. Also glad Abner Uribe held on to the last spot. Didn’t want to take him off my list due to non-arm injury because the upside is so tantalizing, but ultimately there were too many guys with intriguing performances so far for me to leave him on.
  18. Looks good, but was a little confused by the up/down arrows at first until I realized the number was for their previous ranking & not how many spots they had moved.
  19. Tyler Black (2-4, 3B) & Tristan Peters (3-4, two 2B) multi hit games plus 5.1 scoreless relief IP from the firm of Matulovich, Hasler, Robinson equals another Wisco W.
  20. Gotta feel for Carlos, really starting to put it together & then this. Arbert Cipion 2-4 with 2 RBI continues making his case for a call up from Carolina.
  21. There are currently 264 players with at least 100 PAs this season. With 30 teams & 9 lineup spots, this more or less represents the pool of "regular" players to this point. Lorenzo's 191/254/252 line is "good" for a 46 wRC+, which only ranks 259th. Here are the five players less able than Cain thus far, plus a few other familiar names on the last page of the leaderboard... Martin Maldonado 127/205/236 (32 wRC+) Leury Garcia 190/200/276 (33 wRC+) Christian Pache 170/213/145 (35 wRC+) Austin Hedges 152/222/253 (39 wRC+) Robinson Chirinos 141/238/250 (44 wRC+) Avisail Garcia 201/231/282 (49 wRC+) Jonathan Schoop 185/228/312 (54 wRC+) Yasmani Grandal 169/279/225 (54 wRC+) Javier Baez 195/236/302 (55 wRC+) Marcus Semien 197/261/268 (56 wRC+) Alcides Escobar 222/266/291 (57 wRC+) Trent Grisham 160/263/267 (60 wRC+)
  22. Taylor's got a bunch of small samples across all three OF spots. but amazingly all three systems have had him above average at each spot... LF (292 Innings) +1 DRS | +2.0 UZR | +2 OAA CF (308 Innings) +4 DRS | +1.4 UZR | +2 OAA RF (333 Innings) +2 DRS | +1.2 UZR | +2 OAA OF (934 Innings) +7 DRS | +4.6 UZR | +6 OAA
  23. Crazy thing about the Phils is all their big money FA deals (Wheeler, Harper, Realmuto) have gone well for the most part...and they still have just been hanging around .500 for like five years now. As far as thins offseasons big ticket items, Castellanos (117 OPS+, -8 DRS, 0.2 WAR) and Schwarber (106 OPS+, -2 DRS, 0.3 WAR) haven't quite hit enough to offset their brutal defense so far, accounting for almost half of the Phillies MLB worst -22 DRS to start the season.
