  1. Saw some questions about Kratz's framing in the IGT last night so I checked the available framing metrics I'm aware of which had him ranked 8th (Baseball Prospectus) & 19th (StatCorner) among MLB backstops.
  2. Will be curious to see how highly Stearns & company value this pick. I think Grandal will get QO'd by the Dodgers, but they won't be that motivated to resign him with Barnes already in MLB & Smith/Ruiz knocking on the door. Given our need at catcher I could see Yasmani being appealing around 3/50 considering he's a switch hitter that has never posted an OPS+ under 100 (121 this year, 115 career) & consistently rates as one of the best pitch framers in the game. Obviously the downside is losing this late first round pick & we'd be getting his age 30-32 seasons, which is when things start to get scary for catchers.
  3. This the most fun. No matter the end result. I'm calmer than Walter Sobchak.
  4. Only thing I can think of with Freeland is I believe he pitched the WC game on short rest so maybe they want to give him an extra day?
  5. Kratz has caught each of Miley's last twelve starts. He will be starting Sunday in all likelihood. You have the rest of tonight, all of Saturday & most of Sunday to process this information.
  6. Kratz has caught 20 of Chacin's last 21 starts & 21 of 24 overall since he joined the team. Jhoulys has an ERA of 3.23 with Kratz behind the dish in those 21 games against a 4.39 mark in 12 games with Manny.
  7. Perez (103 wRC+) has been far superior to Arcia (62 wRC+) over the last two seasons against lefties.
  8. Analytics say, "Trade for Mike Moustakas even though you already have a third baseman. Your current third baseman will be fine at second even though he is a large man that has not played there previously." Good luck explaining that to some fans, though.
  9. Exactly. The difference between the two is so marginal that the only thing wrong is pretending to know which one was the "right" option.
  10. In 21 games with Kratz catching Jhoulys has a 3.23 ERA compared to a 4.39 ERA in 12 starts with Manny. Against lefties the last two seasons Perez has a 103 wRC+ compared to a 62 mark for Arcia.
  11. Saw Ottavino's post game interview & he said he threw Moose the fastball because he thought he was behind it on his previous swings & also thought he would be looking slider at that point. Said he wanted to get the pitch higher than it ended up. With regards to not walking Moose to load the bases for Piña, I'm guessing it's because Ottavino's 11.7 BB% was 21st out of 273 pitchers with at least 60 IP this year.
  12. Molitor (or any other player) didn't owe the Brewers (or any other team) anything at that point. His salary had already been artificially supressed for multiple seasons by the owners colluding to not sign each other's free agents from 1985-87.
  13. Didn't get to read through the entire thread, but I think one reason Brewers fans were able to turn out so well was just how the tickets were sold. Maybe the Brewers could hold non-SSH seats for future Cubs games until 24-48 hours before the series or something similar then have a flash sale of sorts to try & get more Brewer fans at MP for those games. Was a lot of fun countering Cubs fans booing Braun with Sammy Sosa chants & yelling OBP whenever they chanted MVP for Baez. But the best were the Miller Park South chants that started as the Brewers took the lead & closed out the game.
  14. Pretty sure that after today Yelich's batting average will be higher than Baez's on base percentage. Not that it matters since we won the division & all that.
  15. I have a couple extra issues of the September 2010 "What's Brewing" magazine with Jeffress on the cover if anyone is interested.
  16. We ended the regular season 28-10 to take the NL Central crown & finish with the most wins in the entire National League. How Much Credit Does Counsell Deserve?
  17. Not sure where in Milwaukee you're at but I saw that Blackbird on KK in Bay View will be open for the game.
  18. Same here. Even as much as I generally prefer not to deal with Wrigley/Cubs fans, there was no way I was missing this game.
  19. 286 Second half PAs for Yelich. Bonds was 292 PAs in 2004. Harper's prophecy fulfilling first half in 2015 was 339/464/704 in 343 PAs for a 211 wRC+ as another point of recent reference. EDIT: was reading too fast & saw "been tested" as "batted".
  20. Yelich 2013-17 | 290/369/432 | 122 wRC+ Yelich pre-ASB | 292/364/459 | 122 wRC+ Yelich post-ASB | 364/444/776 | 220 wRC+ The last person to post a 2nd half wRC+ of 220 was Barry Bonds in 2004 when he went 359/589/832 for a 234 WRC+.
  21. MVP caliber tag, imo
