  1. Quietly, Castellanos has only 1.3 bWAR combined over four seasons and nearly 2,500 plate appearances. At that salary, you’d hope for more than replacement level production. On topic, glad Sanchez is back. Contreras catches nearly every game anyway.
  2. Brewers scored third most runs in baseball last year and most of our position players could be expected to improve in 2026
  3. If a team said they traded this 3B for one of the more promising LHP entering last year, they would be happy: To be fair, Durbin rarely strikes out and squares the ball up very well.
  4. Just when we all psyched ourselves up that a roster entirely comprised of 5’8’ guys was the right thing to do 🙂
  5. If Team X wins 97 games in 2025, brings back everyone except one starting pitcher, it is interesting how a projection dips 14 games from reality.
  6. Yes https://milwaukeerecord.com/sports/base-bevy-bad-brewers-bobbleheads/
  7. That’s an interesting tell. Have we previously traded a star before their giveaway day? Not that promotional items dictate baseball operations. Perhaps the giveaway team just played the percentages and went a safe route.
  8. You must not have seen the Anthony Joseph fight against Jake Paul 🙂
  9. Williams started 70 games at SS in 2025 and 53 combined games between 2B/CF. It could be a small omission from the article or a quiet acknowledgement that we have several blue chip SS prospects in our system for the long-term.
  10. Pedroia Paradox: When team roster decreases in terms of inches but franchise success soars to new heights. Eckstein Effect: The relationship of aggregate scrappiness to unexpectedly favorable in-game outcomes. The Brewers are just testing solid hypotheses. 🙂
  11. At a minimum, Milwaukee is unable to pay premium salaries for "proven mediocrity" when we have plenty of less proven options available that provide equal or better outcomes with upside.
  12. So did Adrian Houser, before cratering in New York in 2024. To his credit, Houser found himself in 2025 and turned his performance into a ‘legitimate fifth starter’ option for San Francisco on $22 M deal, two years. I can only dream of one day being considered ‘a legitimate fifth starter option’ 🙂
  13. Like David Ortiz or Manny Ramirez? 🤷‍♂️ I understand we would love a brand name slugger. I don’t think one year rental of Peralta gets us there, though.
  14. AAAA teams don’t win 97 games. It’s hard to see our stars leave but there is nothing shrewd or noble about paying a pitcher $100+M that will turn 30 this season. Milwaukee receives up to 12 seasons (combined) of Williams and Sproat in exchange for 30 starts from Peralta. The Brewers are still well positioned to win the division. The Dodgers are everybody’s problem and won’t be solved this week.
  15. Our # 3 starter for Nashville and one year of Peralta for two good prospects will probably work out okay for Milwaukee.
  16. ‘In talks’ and ‘agreed to trade’ seem like different things. 🤷‍♂️
  17. Yes, 100% national noise. Not necessarily to rile up Brewers fans, though. The Brewers won’t be able to resign Peralta but that doesn’t mean Milwaukee needs to miss out on an $8 million season that will likely include 200 strikeouts and 175 IP.
  18. Players injured during WBC have their salary paid for by separate insurance policy. https://www.nbcsportsphiladelphia.com/mlb/philadelphia-phillies/what-happens-to-mlb-contract-if-player-gets-injured-during-wbc/271425/
  19. Jones is a 10x gold glove winner with a 7-year peak WAR that compares favorably to many HoF center fielders. https://www.baseball-reference.com/leaders/jaws_CF.shtml Beltran was 9x All Star and compares favorably to Jones.
  20. I want to extend praise for our Brewer Fanatic community, who, all things considered, have handled a quiet offseason very well. I remember way fewer instances of pitch forks insisting on needle movers.. Perhaps, that’s good or perhaps we just accept free agency isn’t really for Milwaukee. Plus, we won 97 games last year. 🤷‍♂️
  21. All of the Peralta trade rumors seem essentially that Milwaukee is answering the phone. That is different than Milwaukee actively shopping Peralta.
  22. ‘Moving toward’ trading someone could mean simply answering the Yankees’ phone calls.
  23. We probably have enough near term prospects at most positions except outfield. Let’s win 95+ games again and take our draft pick.
  24. But are the 2026 Cubs actually better than last year’s version?
