  1. Yesterday I did pork spare ribs on the Weber kettle using the snake method and 3-2-1 for hours on grill with the 2 hours wrapped in foil. First time for me. Ribs were delicious but not fall off the bone tender like I’d hoped. I’m thinking next time I’ll do an extra hour in the foil and open the vent more during that part of the smoke. Seems like I was actually running too cool. I can fully appreciate the value of a thermometer but I’m stubborn in some certain things. When I’m cooking with fire I don’t want to go involving technology. Fortunately the store had a nice special on ribs at $3.99/lb so I’ve got more in the freezer to work on getting this down. For this go around I’m going to slow bake the leftovers for tenderness while I hang my head in shame.
  2. I got 90% on the top 50 HR and kicked myself for the 5 I missed.

  4. Thanks, Mass. Just this week I'd been trying to figure out how Larry Yount was credited with an MLB appearance. I finally found out by reading the honorable mentions section of the Phantom Major Leaguers Wikipedia page. For anyone wondering, he got injured tossing warmup.
  5. If you get everyone on their best season, it's got some potential. 6. I wish I could have seen that. Bob Uecker was on that one, as well as the famous match of Macho Man Randy Savage vs Ricky “The Dragon “ Steamboat. Do you have cable or satellite TV with FS1? Might be free on on-demand since it was just on over-the-air. Sadly, I don't even get FS1 with our cable package.

  8. Wasn't Leskanic a main ringleader on the "Sweep Suit" thing that blew up in their faces?
  9. But the honorable mentions wouldn't be "bench" players, just bench players on our imaginary all-time squad. In my mind a bench player would have to be somebody who didn't hold down a position.
  10. I was surprised to look at Ramirez's career stats on bref and see how poorly he graded on dWAR. One thing I'll always remember about Aramis is all the plays on bouncers and rollers out in front of him towards the line where he had to move up on it and make a strong accurate throw across his body, across the diamond to first base. Even at age 37 he made that play look easy.
  11. Isbell's new album drops 5/15, I'm looking forward to that.
  12. Yup. I will say, when I first saw Weeks play in Milwaukee I immediately thought of Sheffield, but that was because of his swing.
  13. I noticed The Wonder Years series on amazon one day. There’s a show I assumed would never be on dvd due to music rights.
  14. Speaking of air carriers being hit, our largest in-state airline, RAVN air group, had to file for chapter 11, have a liquidation plan in place and appears likely to be done for good. They announced a $90million deficit which I imagine largely already existed prior to covid, but covid made them unable to make the gains they were banking on during their busy season. It's going to have a tremendous impact in state, as so many people and communities rely on air travel. My job requires a lot of flying to very remote places, and that is going to become much more complicated to accomplish than it already was.
  15. Thanks for the heads up, BCF. I'll call my folks and have Dad DVR that one. I've never seen that game, but in '92 Dad and I listened to it on a portable radio while fishing in Vilas county.
  16. I don't know if the whole "hygiene hypothesis" is right, bunk, or somewhere in between. Germaphobia is going to be big for a good long while after this comes to pass, so through data down the road we should find out.
  17. Sometimes we get to deplane from both ends when arriving in Bethel. No idea why it isn't all the time here, since there's no jetway or anything, just movable steps. When the plane I'm on lands, I want out of it ASAP. I hate flying into O'Hare because after you land you taxi for 20 minutes, and then usually spend another 20 minutes in the penalty box waiting for a gate to be available to deplane.
  18. Produce at the grocery store that's about at the end not being discounted. Nobody's going to pay full price for it, so it ends up going in the trash.
  19. PBS aired his 2018 Austin City Limits show last night. He played 5 songs off his last album Tree Of Forgiveness. Right after that album was released and I gave it a listen, I thought that it’d be his last. Many songs gave the impression of one being close to the end of life and being at ease with it. Watching his performances of those songs on tv shortly after passing had a positively surreal feeling to it.
  20. [sarcasm]What? No #24 Kevin Mench?[/sarcasm] Seriously, #22 is the answer. I suppose an argument could be made for #71 if he were to continue his dominance for another 10-12 years and somehow stay in Milwaukee all the while, which yes, I realize is a pipe dream. If I'm willing to dream, then #30 if Counsell has a long, successful tenure at the helm and brings a championship to Milwaukee.
  21. Right, those are some of the things I was referring to that stink to miss. Not to mention final athletic seasons. I've heard some people fretting over graduations, which I don't get.
  22. Graduation ceremonies suck anyways. There are plenty of things that people are missing out on that really stink to miss, but graduation? Be glad you don't have to sit around for hours in a ridiculous costume.
  23. I always remember the Brewers-As brawl with Edwin Nunez clawing Surhoff. Who was it that Rob Dibble threw at like a week before we acquired him? Listach? I think it was indeed Listach. I remember he got suspended and served that suspension once he was a Brewer.
  24. Is fsn showing 87 Easter Sunday today?
  25. There’s no guarantee we’ll get another contention window as good as the one we’re in the middle of for the next 20 or however many years. I’d much rather win it in a real season, but if my choices are this year or never, that’s an easy one.
