  1. Yeah but there is no way we throw away all the good will we built up in the last few years. We need to just keep our heads down and try to take advantage of the system that is in place until the big boys get wise that a little guy is getting one over on them and it gets taken away.
  2. I don’t think it’s entirely a coincidence that the first full year in a new DSL facility aligns with a possibly generational group of prospects. These kids may be a bit more prepared both physically and mentally than our usual 17 year olds. They also have the added benefit of seeing someone only three years older than them getting $80,000,000 and contending for Rookie of the Year. If ever there was a time to push some kids in A ball, this feels like it. Get all of them (Made, Pena, Anderson, Quintana, and Ortuno) around Chourio in the spring and hopefully that drives them even more.
  3. We’ve drafted roughly 10 high school pitchers in the last two years, any updates on any not named Letson or Knoth?
  4. Jesus Made is our #1 prospect according to Baseball America.
  5. Black seems like we are just waiting for a trade offer / a package he can be a part of. Which is weird, because he 100% feels like a guy that the Brewers take a chance on from another system.
  6. The Padres agreeing to a $4mil deal with a 14 year old is just as insane as the 14 year old being 19.
  7. I’d love to know how we were viewed by international prospects / their handlers even two years ago compared to now. It sure seems like we’ve built up the connections, and now the reputation is there as well. I wonder what this whole operation looks like once the Chourio / Made snowball really starts rolling down hill.
  8. Not a subscriber, but a big shoutout to the Brewers (and Bitonti as the cover boy).
  9. I think Luke Adams is going to be a superstar. I also feel like there are more than a couple timelines where everything comes together and Bitonti rockets up to being a top 10 prospect in the blink of an eye. I find it hard to believe there is a higher ceiling 15-11 range in all of the minors.
  10. Drafting underslot and using that money later in the draft is already the equivalent of trading picks.
  11. It is fun to see how everyone interacts with Chourio. Just the subtle picking on him, helmet taps, and brush offs. I don't know if we'd have had this turnaround from him without all those guys.
  12. He's listed as 5'11" and like 165. Does he still look that small? How high does he throw?
  13. Sounds like part of our strategy to spend most of our 11-20 on signable high schoolers and use the undrafted guys as our pre-2023 11-20 college signings.
  14. What’s the deal here? We using our leftover draft money? These guys seem like they’ve got juice. Bullpen arms?
  15. It's there, but it's being seen right now in the college picks. We have quite a few guys moving quickly through the system right now that are in that bunch of later round picks. We've signed 11 high school pitchers in the last two drafts. I think you'd be hard pressed to find another team with 4 or 5 in that time (I believe only Knoth and Letson have made it past rookie ball so far). I think the shift to high school arms is creating a little bit of a lag in the pitching lab results. This is made even more pronounced with Birchard and Woodward being injured as some of our higher drafted college guys in that same time frame.
  16. We've had guys start in A ball the past few years. Yophery Rodriguez this year, Lara last year, and Chourio before that.
  17. I'm excited to see what they end up looking like when they get stateside. With the improved facilities, it would be cool if we are going to get kids showing up a lot more physically developed.
  18. I've never cared less about our prospect rankings. We got something cooking here, and it's gonna be fun to watch the next couple years. The pitching depth across the board, along with waves of young positional guys... Yeesh.
  19. Just an example. He was getting the Chourio hype the year before Chourio arrived.
  20. Imagine being told this 10 years ago… Heck, even two years ago when we were salivating at the idea of Hedbert Perez. The entire organization deserves a ton of praise for the turnaround that the academy has taken.
  21. And $150,000 doesn't count towards 11-20 picks. We had $735,580 left to use. I think we just ran out of time, no reason we couldn't get another guy signed with that.
  22. Get the drafted kids to Carolina ASAP. Adamczewski might be my favorite prospect, and Bitonti ties the game in the 9th with his 2nd HR of the night.
