  1. It’s actually a woman named Ginger Poulson. Look at this years draft and take note of all the late round midwest high schoolers that she got drafted (9, 10, 13, 17, 19, and 20). Also Luke Adams from years past is a late steal from her as well.
  2. So having the recent draft currently in our minds,,,, How the heck does a 13th round college pitcher with a $100K bonus crack our top 5 in less than a year? What are they seeing in Wichrowski?
  3. So…. does anyone else feel like a junkie waiting for these bonus numbers?
  4. Morlando was pick number 16 and signed for $3.4M (the 75% would have been closer to $3.6M). Our pick is number 17 and 75% of that would be exactly $3.4M. I think that is gonna be the number.
  5. We only hear of minor league contracts in regards to signing bonuses, but what’s stopping teams from paying guys more during the contract itself rather than using bonus money? Example: Sign for 150k less, and we will pay you 50k more per year? Feel like this would come in handy in rounds 11-20, and especially with high schoolers. **EDIT** From what I’ve found on google, it looks like your first contract season is paid $1,100/month, and after that season it’s all open to negotiation (with higher minimums at each level).
  6. Paying him the minimum 75% of our slot would place him between the 25th and 26th picks slot-wise. Feels like a good compromise if a deal was made.
  7. Travis Smith (15th rounder, tough sign) being family friends with Chris Hook our pitching coach is an interesting development.
  8. Ah I’m old and thought it was June still…
  9. A quick reminder that he’s the youngest guy down there. Just turned 17 a week ago, looks like they weren’t playing him until then.
  10. Here is a quick comparison from last year to this year with projected signing bonuses to just get an idea of what our Day 3 warchest might look like. I feel like i went at the highest range we could expect with everyone except our first two picks (who I assume are taking a huge discount) and still ended up with near a million left over. ***EDIT*** After going through last years draft's signing bonuses, we may be looking at closer to $2.5 mil for the two high school pitchers. However, we gave Knoth $2mil last year at pick 33 and Misio $2.35 mil as the 63rd pick in 2022 so who knows?
  11. And you guys were worried we weren’t gonna draft like insane people…

  13. The curveball here is those high schoolers taken in 9 and 10 yesterday. That isn’t like us. Those are usually easy sign picks that we save even more money on. There might be some crazy stuff going on.
  14. He's a sophomore that just turned 21 and is coming off a TJ year. Could be sneakier pick than it seems.
  15. We haven't taken a college position player in rounds 11-20 since 2019. We did take two Juco position guys in 2022, signing one of them.
  16. The two high schoolers to round out day two rather than taking guys for way under slot has got me all thrown off.
  17. Not only that, but the Dominican academy seems to be churning out position guys like crazy. Might as well give them some pitching friends.
  18. Ending the day with two high school pitchers was such a tease. WE HAVE MONEY.
  19. Looking like if we take a big swing on a faller, it's gonna be in round 11.
  20. I remember going into the Misiorowski signing period thinking we had so much money to sign guys, and then we dumped a huge amount on him. Wouldn't be surprised if Levonas was that guy.
  21. Made a spreadsheet comparing last years bonuses vs. this years so far. Ended last years at Round 6 (Pratt). Assuming Payne and Burke took their physicals and sign for the minimum... We can sign the two high school arms to $2mil deals (well above slot, what we gave to Knoth last year) and still have $600k to play with. DAY1_BONUS_POOL.xlsx
  22. My only worry is that someone brought up the new CBA stating that you have to pay 75% of the slot. We aren’t saving nearly as much as we probably should on the first rounder.
  23. Woof. Do we know about this rule? Hopefully he didn’t take a physical… Ha.
  24. I think our current arms are extremely undervalued. Weren’t sexy draft picks, but we’ve got guys that produce.
