  1. Haase only has 77 plate appearances so even if Jansen plays twice as much that is like 75 ab's. That doesn't seem like much for Jadher. I get that Jadher is blocked and has some swing flaws. I doubt that Contreras DH's a lot more because than you are taking Collins out of the lineup and that hurts the lineup. The only explanation to me is that Contreras is going to go on the DL to get right. I do like Jansen alot and if he plays enough the next 2 months there is some solid upside. If we were to say trade William in the offseason Jansen would be a great tandem with Quero if not to expensive to resign.
  2. I would prefer Mauricio he can play SS and OF on top of switch hit. I like Baty but just think Mauricio would be perfect. Why Coulombe? I get the other 2 and didn't realize how good Coulombe has been the past few years but lefty relief is one thing we have way more than enough of. I guess I can see it if you would replace Koenig in the 8th with him.
  3. 1) Nestor Cortes and Elvis Peguero to Detriot for P Ty Madden Madden has some command issues but still has bigger upside even at 25. The Tigers need a 5th starter and Peguero gives them needed bullpen depth. 2) Brandon Lowe and for Tyson Hardin and Flippo Di Turri The Ray's got Ha-Sheong Kim back crowding their IF. Lowe is injuried but should be back around the deadline. He would be the power bat we need I would expect Lowe to play 1B and DH (rarely OF or 2B) . He also has an option for next year. Hardin and Di Turri are 2 nice young pieces that are likely just buried in our system. This could be Yandy Diaz and another good prospect would need to be added or possibly one of there other IF players (Mead, Caberello, Wells) for less.
  4. I like Cruz but wouldn't give up any major pieces. If they want like 4 of our secondary pieces fine Boeve, CarRod, EMJ, and Birchard. Cruz could make a sweet utility guy maybe add 1B/3B to his repeteiore. As a left handed utility guy who could play basically everywhere hit 30/30, I wouldn't care to much if he hit .220. That being said the Pirates would get a much better package.

  6. I was just reading that the Mets are open to trading infield depth. I have always love Ronny Mauricio and think he would be a perfect target. A switch hitter who can play all IF spots and play some OF as well. He is very volatile but could be a utility guy with 20/20 (maybe 30/30) upside. I would guess they would want pitching DL Hall would be a pretty close value I feel. The Mets might be be looking for an set-up man.
  7. That being said Issac Collins has been as good as Kwan the past couple months.
  8. I like Kwan a bunch, he has 2.5 years of control and has been a 4-5 WAR player. I do think he fits our philosophy perfectly. I would guess that it would have to be a pretty strong package my guess would be Pratt, Patrick/Hall/Henderson, and Wilken/Adams/Letson.
  9. I think we are at a point where Caleb Durbin has played well enough that 3B isn't really a need unless you think he could move to SS. Durbin is currently at 2.2 WAR after missing a month and have a rough first month or so after being called up. He is probably been playing at a near 5 WAR pace since. Ortiz has made up 1-1.5 WAR but for whatever reason baseball reference has him at -7 defensive runs saved which is nuts.
  10. I like Castro but I wouldn't pay a very high price for an expiring utility guy. Especially since SS is not really part of his repertoire, 56 games 2024 -9 runs (26 innings this year). Still he switch hits so it wouldn't be bad. I would try for 2 lower ranked guys instead of 1 decent prospect.
  11. Dang, all my musing are going no where. Edward Cabrera could be similar, he has a year more control but not as consistent. I wouldn't give up Henderson for him. Patrick/Hall, Boeve/Wilken, Arienamo/Josh A, and through in DSL prospect. He does have some very high upside that could warrent a decent package.
  12. It's impressive that we are able to sign HS guys and upside JC players as UDFA. On top of what looks like could be a deep class of HS arms with 4/5 HS pitchers drafted already committed to sign.
  13. Any thoughts on going against conventional wisdom and trading for a young starter like MacKenzie Gore? I kind of like the idea if he doesn't cost to much. If you think we are likely to trade Peralta this offseason Gore would offset that loss. He has gotten better each year and with our IF could take another step. Gore, Peralta, Misi, Woody, Priester make the best rotation in the league for a playoff run. Trade Quintana for a prospect or 2. Keep Gore through 2026 and trade him before his last year to recoup value. Henderson, Patrick/DL Hall, Wilken/Boeve/Adams, and Jadher/Josh A for Gore
  14. He is hitting over .300 with a near .400 obp. He does have 20 2B, if I remember correctly his exit velo has been fine just not lifting the ball. He can still work on that in AA. The strikeouts are a little high averaging 1 per game but not aggregish. Lots of good things from yesterday, get Gasser back, Payne staying hot (Made/Pena multi hit), Kuehner and ManRod's great starts, and others.
  15. Any chance that we could try for Byron Buxton? It would be super risky but his contract is pretty reasonable for a star. The Twins could trade him just because of past injuries. Patrick, Collins, Brock Wilken for Buxton and a couple million a year. We give up 2 blocked-ish players and the Twins get 2 young controllable starters and an solid prospects. We could platoon Buxton and Yeli in LF to reduce injury risk. It would give us a the perfect 2 or 4 hitter.
  16. I don't hate Rice for Myers and a smaller piece. Patrick for Rice and a smaller 2nd piece is bad either. However I like Adams, Burke, or Bitonti long term.
  17. I think those btv's values are a little low. Ramirez would still be a bit high, maybe Ketel Marte and a prospect might be close (Dbacks eat some salary). A young guy like James Wood would be interesting but Nats wouldn't do. Jeremy Pena would be interesting if he had more control. Jacob Wilson would be maybe my top theoretical option.
  18. That price is was to high. Lopez is having a nice year and was OK last year but he was an outright waivers claim in 2023. Lopez for Wichrowski and that 40 FV prospect (say Jadher Arienamo) would likely be more than enough and I am not a huge fan of that.
  19. In Contreras last ab, the Dodgers announcers said his deep foul ball was 116 mph of the bat. Was that correct or did I hear wrong? If so that might be the best omen from last night. I wouldn't trade Priester, he is trending towards a pitcher in the style of Logan Webb, lots of value in a grond ball pitcher with a top notch defense.
  20. I proposed something a couple weeks ago that I still like a lot. So do the 5/32 or whatever and then have a team option for 3/60 with like a 8 million buyout. Then add that he makes like 3 million a year more for every top 5 cy young finish. You could add on more for other accolades or statistical bench marks.
  21. This is probably my favorite pick from the draft. His size makes his upside tantalizing and with the CWS run the is a gamer/bulldog in there. With how well college pitchers have failed in our system he has more upside than any college arms we've drafted since Burnes/Woodruff.
  22. I think there are some shades of JJ Hardy here. When we drafted him there wasn't much speed or power but he developed well. Ebel is a little bigger so maybe more power and less likely to stay at SS (announced as SS). Someone said maybe Corey Seager upside which I could see if things go perfectly.
  23. He kind of has some lefty Freddy Peralta look to that delivery. I doubt he gets as much extension and adds 3-4 mph to get to where Freddy is at. However I wouldn't put anything past our pitching department.
