  1. Agree for the most part. I probably wouldn't trade Yophery, Bitonti, Letson, or Di Turi I feel like as 18 year olds (19 for Letson) those guys all have top 100 prospect upside. To trade them now seems like selling low.
  2. Great point on some of the IF talent maybe moving to the OF. I was just thinking OF as a need to improve our minor league balance. I still think we take best players that fit our organizational goals and we can probably find some nice college bats that can push guys later(3rd or later).
  3. It think that wouldn't be the worst. Can he play 3B? I think he might be best as a utility bench piece 5th OF/2B/3B. I still have some hope that Boeve or Wilken will be ready at 3B and then Ortiz at SS and Turang at 2B.
  4. Wichrowski, Manfredi, Letson, Patrick, Cornielle probably a few others could be added as well. The pitching in our system has been amazing this year.
  5. Hopefully we can add some nice OF talent in the draft that can move up quickly and help out those lower levels. It is nice to see that we have solid talent at every position and some spots where there are multiple talents there is versatility to move spots if need be. It would be nice to add some power bats as well but I can't complain about the draft athletes that are more hit over power strategy.
  6. Not surprising. I would be surprised. if we trade anyone in the top 10 range of our prospects. What gets me is the term people familiar with the team. Does that mean fans or reporters. It kind of seems like there is no specific info here just speculation from the past.
  7. Earlier in the year the Rockies or some reporter said that Ryan McMahon would be off-limits. I do think he would be a nice add that might not cost quite as much. He could play some 1st this year and then back to 3rd when we lose Willy. The amount he strikes out is a concern and getting a bat from Coors is always a risk. I wonder if we start making some fringe roster trades over the next week or two as our 40 man and OF become crowded.
  8. I brought this up in the offseason and got massacred for it. Any chance we could have Mitchell learn some 1st (this offseason) and platoon with Rhys or Black next year. If Yeli is unwilling to try 1st maybe Mitchell goes there. It would be a waste to lose the OF defense but having a 1B who can steal 40 bases would be nuts. Add in Frelick platooning some at 2B/3B and there is pt for everyone. Yeli DH 80/LF 60 Chourio 102 LF/45 RF Mitchell 90 CF, 40 1B (or move these to Yeli) Sal 110 RF, 30 IF Perkins 72 CF (more when someone likely gets injured. A lineup like C-Contreras, 1B Black, 2B Turang, SS Ortiz, 3B Frelick, LF Chourio, CF Perkins, RF Mitchell, DH Yeli might be the fastest team in the history of the league. Maybe Sal just moves to 2B or 3B full time next year and makes it easy.
  9. The Kopech Fedde trade would work for me. To get a starter like Kikuchi it is going to likely take a top ten prospect or 2 top 15-20 guys. I like Patrick but if we are giving Dallas Kuechel a shot over him our front office must have some major concerns. Dallas probably gets 1/2 more starts. Then Patrick will have DL Hall, Taylor Clarke, Carlos Rodriguez and Junis maybe Ross, Junk, and Ashby (hopefully not) on the 40 man who could get that spot or Misi or Henderson (probably to soon) who could make a jump from AA. Patrick would get a good shot in Chicago the rest of the year and I would rather trade him than a higher upside young guy. I am with you that I would give Patrick a chance before trading him. I am just not sure he gets that chance at this point.
  10. The Jays would have to eat a bunch of Bassitt's contract for me to consider that. Bassitt has been good and that is probably fair value but I worry about him more next year as a 36 year old. For a smaller askig price and contract I would rather go Fedde that Bassitt. Kikuchi for 2 prospects like Blalock and Baez (maybe 3rd lesser piece) Fedde and Kopech for Boeve, Arienamo, and Chad Patrick
  11. I didn't like that it was with William at bat. He is hitting like .350 with RISP. Just take 2nd and let Willy C. drive them in, I'm pretty sure he had 2 hits at that point. Part of my distaste for that is that we do it like every time we have 1st and 3rd with 2 outs. We are not fooling anyone with a halfway decent scouting department or in division rivals (or our ex head coach who knows how much Murph loves the little league plays). I don't know what the success rate is but it seems like 2 for 5 or 6, which isn't terrible.
  12. I would guess he needs to get his average up to .260 or so to get back in the conversation. Jackson Merrill and Joey are hitting around ..280 with WAR'S over 2. Chourio at .241 with WAR around 1 has some ground to go. Scenes may be impossible to catch unless he gets hurt.
  13. Any news on the Pratt injury? I would move Pratt to A+ and Bitonti to Carolina. That way there are still enough ab's for everyone.
  14. Give it a couple weeks and the teams that are 5-7 below .500 will be 7-9 and become sellers quick. On top of that 5 or 6 teams that are within a couple games of .500 either way probably won't be buyers.
  15. I'd like a stretch big like Ware/Holems/Filipowski at 23 and a experienced PG or Shooter at 33 Trey Alexander/Tristan Newton/Kolek/ Colorado PG or Schierman/Cam Spencer Zach Edey would be the only pick at 23 I would really hate (as of now at least).
  16. Any thoughts for 23 and 33? Super interesting trade of Mikal Bridges to NYC. Also thought Portland got hosed in getting Deni Avidji.
  17. I could see the Mets doing this. They have Senga, Severino, Quintana, Manaea, Houser, Scott, Butto, and Peterson. I could see them trade Severino, Quintana, and Manaea and trade for a solid pitcher with some more control like Luzardo, Crochet, Fedde, etc. Severino for Payamps and one of our young 2B/SS like Baez, Arienamo, or Guillarte would be close.
  18. Tigers won't trade Skubal, I live in Michigan and the fans would probably boycott if they sold off there best player(s) other than Flaherty. The Angels got Edgar Quero for Lucas Giolito last year, my guess is that would be a fair value. Quero was a top 100 prospect in most publications.
  19. Here is my hopeful draft. 1) James Tibbs/Cam Smith/Tommy White Ranked 14-16 on mlb.com, hopefully one of these 3 big bats could still be there at 17. 1(comp) P Levi Sterling This would have a Knoth type feel. Big project able starter, with a high spin curveball. Ranked in the 50's he could even sign slightly under slot. 2) P Chris Cortez This would be my bigger money saving pick. An electric reliever rank 100, he averaged 2-3 innings per game so developing him as a starter would be an option especially if we could improve his changeup. 2(comp) SS Luke Dickerson I like his smooth swing and sturdy build. Feel free to flip this with the other 2nd round pick if need be. 3) 1B/C Corey Collins Probably the best Senior prospect, he hit .354/.574/1.346 with 20 HR at Georgia. Ranked 171 we can save more slot money and get a bat to go to A+ or AA quickly. 4)P Brandon Clark/ Mack Estrada/ Connor Ware Here is our Junior College pitcher all 3 of these guys seem to be borderline top 200 prosects. 5/6) 2 top ranked HS prospect available.
  20. Watching Kuechel give up back to back jacks I was just thinking "Why hasn't Patrick gotten a chance yet". If Misi puts another good start or two together I would be ok with a call up straight from AA. I wouldnt be against a call to AAA first but honestly his stuff will play anywhere so the AAA step isn't essential of his command is good. Maybe if DL Hall looks good Hall and Misi would make a nice piggy back combo in a few weeks.
  21. Kuechel for 4, Paredes 2, Huddy 2, Megill 9th Getting a sweep on Texas would be huge. Not only winning 3 games but sending Texas more towards selling some pitching. Eovaldi, Lorenzen, Heaney, and Gray could all be perfect trade options for us maybe even Scherzer depending on what the asking price would be.
  22. I would say adding a bat would help but still secondary to a top of the rotation starting pitcher. I like all the names mentioned, but part of the worry is some of those teams might not sell. Yandy Diaz would be great but if Rhys comes but might be off next year. Tyler Black could also fill that bat void.
  23. I have more hope for Kuechel than I did Teheran when we acquired him last year. If he is close to Teheran from last year good pickup.
  24. Ben Zobrist, obviously the defense isn't going to be as good.
