  1. I like the lefty opener vs. lefty strong teams for Rea, Wilson, and Myers. Koenig could be perfect for that role, if they hide a guy or two lower in the order. Good job Pat.
  2. Should we start thinking of Flippo Di Turi in the same line of prospect as Yophery. Granted there is a big difference between the acl and A ball.
  3. In all likelihood yes, there are always going to be opportunities small moves here and there. I still think that when Mitchell comes back from his injury there is a good chance we trade an OF if someone will give us decent value for Perkins or Weimer (Royals, Guardians).
  4. Junk, White, Capra, and Roller are all on the 40 man and losing any of those won't really hurt. In my opinion we have better options in AAA that aren't on the 40 if we need to make moves. Kevin Herget is a step up but not a big loss either. So when Devin, Mitchell, Junis, Baukauskas come of the 60 day, we have guys who will be easy to lose. Jeferson Quero doesn't have a DL designation on the brewers website is that an error or are players not on the 26 man not eligible for DL designation? If so could we just promote him to the bigs for like 1 day put him on the 60 DL and then have another 40 man spot? My guess is that Taylor Clarke gets a chance in the bigs soon-ish as well. 1)cut White bring up Paredes 2)Hall re-instated for Blalock (2 starts for Blalock) 3) Clarke for Myers (maybe 2/3 starts if Clarke is stretched out and looks good and Myers is similar to first couple starts) 4) Black for Miller (less than a week) then Rhys for Black in a couple weeks 5)Mitchell for Weimer (maybe after 10 rehab games or so) 7) cut/dfa Capra/Junk for interesting guys cut from other teams, both likely aren't getting picked up by other teams in my opinion so we can probably keep them in the org..
  5. Blind resume said 93 mph average, suter is throwing like 87. Fedde is a better option than Crochet based on value. I would love Crochet but wouldnt give up top prospects maybe CarRod, EBJ, and Weimer which is nice value but no giant haul since none of those guys are playing well. Mike Clevinger could be an option, he only has 11 innings in so far. Would Blake Snell or Jordan Montgomery be to big of a risk with player option and neither pitching great.
  6. The Blue Jays seem to be the weak link in the AL East, they have lots of interesting options Vladdy Jr (1.5 years of controls), Justin Turner (not playing well as of now), Kikuchi (.5 years), Berrios (signed through 28 19mill-ish), Bassitt/Gausman (not pitching great, 1.5, 2.5 years respectively), Trevor Richards/Yimi Garcia (.5 years) There could be some other guys like Bichette, Varsho, Springer who could be of interest but aren't good fits. Berrios is a guy I would consider sending a big package for, he has been relatively healthy and efective at 19 million a year we could probably likely fit him in salary wise. Would anyone be willing to give up say Black, Lara, Wichrowsi, Henderson for him? I do feel like that seems like a lot for a # 2/3 30 year old. Kikuchi may make more sense but for the 1/2 year I wouldn't want to give up anything crazy maybe Henderson/Blalock and Clarke/Ernesto Martinez which probably isn't enough given what similar pitchers got last year.
  7. Is pitching in the ACL just always this rough before the draft, it seems like there are just a crazy amount of walks in those games.
  8. At this point he has been so good I doubt we get much of a discount signing him long term. That basically means we take all the risk and don't get much benefit. In my opinion an extension would be like 5/12/20/30 per every free agent year. If we just let his time run we probably might spend a few more million in arbitration and if we want to sign him come 2027 or so the price probably won't be way more than $30. For me the risk of signing a catcher long term just isn't worth the $10-20 we save now. I still would love to sign him but the risk needs to meet the reward. On top of that my quote you used was from February a lot has happened since then.
  9. Jeferson QueroJacob MisiorowskiTyler BlackBrock WilkenRobert GasserLuis LaraYophery RodriguezMike BoeveJosh KnothCooper PrattCarlos F RodriguezEric Brown JrLuke AdamsJuan BaezDaniel GuilarteDylan O'RaeGregory BarriosEric BitontiLogan HendersonManuel Rodriguez Quero falls to #3 with the injury and Misi/Black playing well. I had a tough time deciding where to put Boeve, before or after our younger top prospect, so I put him in the middle. Car Rod and EBJ fall, and from 13-18 I have the young talented IF. I only added Barrios and Rodriguez but there where a bunch of options. Lestson, Hall, Wichrowski, Herrera, and few other could make a claim along with some older prospects like Blalock, Wood, Clarke, Dunn, Myers etc.
  10. Yeah bringing back Uribe has to be done when the bullpen is really fresh or around the all-star break. Unless we get like 3 7 inning efforts in a row my bet is on the all-star break, maybe 2 games before and the rest after. Uribe has been good and is probably 2/3 in line after Paredes and maybe Zastrysky but I forgot that that suspension makes his promotion a bit tricky.
  11. I would be ok with a 6 man when Clarke or Hall are back, honestly it would just be nice to have a reliable long man who can pitch like 3 innings every 3 games. Say Peralta, Rea, Wilson, Gasser, Myers (who takes Ross spot), Clarke then DL Hall goes like 40 pitches after Wilson and Clarke the innings saved to the pen might allow us to do a bullpen game occasionally and move Myers/Clarke up and down to AAA to keep supplementing the bullpen.
  12. Mitch White for Enoli Paredas today? I am surprised Paredas hasn't gotten a shot he has been terrific. Uribe has tossed 6 scoreless innings (4 bb) so he might be close to coming back as well, after Paredas in my opinion.
  13. Keller wouldn't be bad for a few starts, however at that point I would rather give Grienke a shot and go for 3000 k's. Maybe Blalock gets a shot tonight and looks good and would slot into Ross's spot. I suppose Tobias Myers would be fine to come back for a few starts as well, he was solid and has some upside. If Taylor Clarke looks a bit better next time out and could be an option as well. Could we consider stretching out a bullpen piece like Hudson? I know he was up to 50ish pitches in spring training, I know his value has been crazy good as a reliever but he could be an interesting starter if his stuff doesn't
  14. He is quickly pricing himself out of town. I feel like his free agent years are going to be more in the 30's than the 20's. I love the amazing play, leadership, consistency, and playing everyday as a catcher. My guess is we keep him for 25 and 26 with arbitration and trade him either at the 26 deadline (1.5 years of control) or 27' offseason. With Yeli done after 28' and Chourio not being expensive at that we could probably afford like 5/150 not until 2027. Honestly it is just risky to sign him long term now because we really likely won't save much.
  15. I think we go with another power bat 17 that we can save some money. Dakota Jordan and Tommy White make sense. With the comp. I like Ben Hess, 6'5/250, high spin fastball up to 98, big curveball, and 98k's in 61 innings. His era will lower his value and he would be another under slot high potential guy. It would be nice to find a HS prospect like Knoth who would take an underslot deal, bit that might be tough. Then in the 2nd it is JUCO time, I don't know rankings but some of the top Juco arms include Connor Ware, Cade Crossland, Tanner Wiggins, and Colin Linder. By this point we will have saved plenty and can take 2 of the top HS prospects left.
  16. Obviously our 1-3 right now is elite, but after that it gets streaky. Adames really isn't fit for #4, at 5/6 he is fine. Hoskins is likely the same style bat. Joey Ortiz probably has been the best of the rest but doesn't profile as a 4. Tyler Black could eventually play into the equation. I don't want to mess with the top 3 but maybe a few shifts could lengthen the lineup and put out best hitters (Contreras) in more run producing spots. My proposal 1)Brice 2)Ortiz 3)Yeli 4)Contreras 5)1st (Rhy, Bauers, Black) 6)Adames 7)DH (Rhys/Gary/4th OF) 8)Sal 9)Chourio/Mitchell
  17. With Mitchell and Weimer getting healthy and no one after Yeli playing great what should our plan be? Yeli, Mitchell, Sal, Chourio, Weimer in AAA, Perkins?. Perkins is a perfect 4th OF but I doubt we send Sal, Chourio, or Mitchell to AAA and there just aren't enough abs for Perk to be a 5th OF especially with 3 lefties and him hitting .143 as a RH batter. I brought it up once before but the Royals OF is trash and we could probably get a solid pitcher from them for Perk (or Mitchel/Weimer) Perkins for P Chandler Champlain (#11 on mlb.com) and a lotto style prospect could help. Maybe Perkins and Vieria/Koenig for Kurdna or Mozzicaito.
  18. To soon, I would love to see him up but have to admit he isn't there. Last year he threw 70 innings so my guess is his limit is 100-120 probably. I would say we should really consider it until bb get to 5/per 9 and he is around the 70-80 inning mark. Then we can ease the workload to fit the season and let him loose as a 25-40 pitch reliever/piggyback (love Hall/Misi piggyback back come August). If he isn't there we can wait until May 2025 and save some service time. Part of me is also thinking that of he is a top 20 prospect maybe he could be best used to get a big bat. We are seeing starters blowing arms out like crazy and Misi with his slinging 3/4 release is going to be at risk his entire career. Maybe trading high on him isn't a bad idea.
  19. I must be sleeping on Wichrowski way to much. I don't remember where I had him it would have been 18-22. I know he added a few mph up to 96-98 and he has a nice slider. He is now in AA and pitched pretty well. Thinking about it I probably should have him above O'Rae, Baez, Guilarte, Adams because his ceiling is higher. However I am not quite ready to put him over EBJ and CarRod. Even though the beginning of the year has gone bad I am not ready to abandon them yet.
  20. Love what Ortiz has been doing, he seems to have adjusted to 3B. I still think he is our long term SS.
  21. With a 1-3 of Turang, Contreras, Yeli we should be a solid run producing team most of the year. I expect Ortiz and Frelick to provide consistency towards the mid to bottom of the order and then the big streaky bats of Rhys, Willy, and Chourio will create some of the volatility we have seen.
  22. The bullpen has been really solid especially with the innings covered. Payamps hasn't been great but in 14 innings that is really 1 extra bad outing. Viera has had a rougher time but has shown the abilty. The only real disappointment is Abner Uribe and we knew going in there was going volatility there. Add in some finds like Koenig, Baukausus (potentially), and some solid AAA arms and starters returning we will likely have to trade some guys just because there won't be enough room. Starters= Peralta, Rae, Wilson, Ross, Gasser, Hall, Junis, Myers, Ashby Pen=Williams, Megill, Payamps, Hudson, Milner, Peguero, Koenig, Viera, Clarke, Uribe, Baukausakas, Hoping to stay= Herget, White, Junk AAA non 40 man studs= Paredas, Zastryzny, Thompson, Big AAA stuff=Chirino, Middendorf Maybe ready later in year=CarRod, Misi That is eventual 20 guys on the big league squad plus a bunch more deserving. I said it a couple times on the transication forum that it might be a good time to trade Hoby if we can get a high potential prospect and Devin will be on the block if he can get healthy.
  23. I said it before somewhere, he needs to edit his repertoire. I am not going to pretend what pitches need to go but he probably should go from 5 to 3 pitches. I think he has some ability to turn into a Bryse Wilson type reliever but I don't think we will ultimately get the time to help him unless he accepts an AAA assignment that will likely come in the next week (just the way we handle the last bullpen spot). Taylor Clarke may be ready in a week or so and White is probably the guy to go down, especially after his next multiple inning relief appearance.
  24. I am excited to see Gasser again today, I'm interested to see if there are adjustments and how that plays out. Mostly I am eager to get my hopes up of him being a #3 type starter that we've been hoping he would turn into the last couple years. It sounds like DL Hall is getting into a rehab starts soon, what do we think of Hall and Misi piggybacking in say 3 weeks? I think it could be a nice way to get the best out of both pitchers. Obviously the downside is that that would be 2 roster spots and unlikely that our front office is going to use 2 spots to try out something new. Maybe just piggyback him with Ross or Bryse Wilson, the current Peralta, Rea, Ross, Wilson, Gasser alignment seems pretty solid at the moment.
  25. It's weird how a week can change/alter my thinking. There would already be 3 or 4 guys I would move down my list some and probably a couple I would move into the top 20. I don't need anything re-set just making observations, there probably 26-28 guys that were worthy of the top 20 and a few more that have the talent but I leave out (new int. signings).
