  1. I like Burke a lot as well, not only 20 HR but 30 2B. Underrated athlecism with 11 sb and also a just turned 21. He should get to high A ball by year end and have a shot to be in AA next year. Another pick that should save us some money since he was ranked around 60.
  2. I don't mind this pick at all. There is definitely upside, mlb draft rankings are very subjective especially comparing HS guys to each other or college bats. He his a premium athlete who has potential to add strength/power, be a demon on the base paths and play high end defense. At 17 he is 4 years younger than some of the college bats. On top of it our scouting director Johnson alluded that they didn't see much difference between player ranked from 11-50 or so. This probably allows us to get 4 or 5 players in the 60 or 70. My guess is that we can probably save as much as 1.5-2 million on slot value and make a couple big picks later.
  3. Is it possible to fire a guy mid air. Dan O'Dowd is driving me nuts "air-craft carrier"
  4. I am going to exempt the top 10 ranked players on mlb.com so here is my wish list. Obviously how much each guy signs for can drastically change my view of the pick long term. Over the moon love= Trey Yesavage. Brody Brecht (been back and forth between love and meh), James Tibbs, Cam Smith, Tommy White, Christian Moore (Basically the top college bats) Super excited: Cam Caminiti, William Schmidt, Theo Gillan, Kellon Lindsey, Tyson Lewis (last two are Turang-ish) (Basically the top HS I like), Levi Sterling (my favorite sleeper, probably a better comp pick) Really happy with- Jurrangelo Cjinte, Ryan Waldschmidt, Carson Benge, Vance Honeycutt, Caleb Lomavita, Walker Janek, Billy Amick, Kaelen Culpepper, Dakota Jordan Not my favorite but could live with- Seaver King, Ryan Sloan, Slade Caldwell Really don't want- Malcolm Moore, Kash Mayfield
  5. I like Julien still he has a -1 run at second so his defense got a bit better. I think he would be a great offseason trade target. Mitchell or Perkins for Julien would seem to be a good starting point. If he doesn't quite work at 2nd he probably would be a decent 1st baseman.
  6. Would it be possible to swap Tyler Black for another blocked prospect. Black is likely an OF at this point if 1B isn't working. The Ray's have a stacked IF with Diaz, Caberallo, Paredes, Mead, Williams, Camenerio, and Issac, Taylor in the lower levels. Would Black and reliever for Carson Williams Black straight up for Issac straight up. Could always be part of a Yandy Diaz or Paredes deal. The Mariners could use offense and have young options. Black for Cole Young or Colt Emerson. The are probably a bunch of other ideas like the Mets, Pirates, Twins, and others.
  7. Man it seems like every year we limp into the allstar break. I think the goal is winning the world series every year but with the lower payroll/smaller fan base it is hard to go all in. Say we went all in and get Crochet, Kukuchi, and a bat like Joc Pederson. We end up hurting the farm a ton and there is no guarantee we win a ws. We cant be like the Dodgers, Mets, or Yankees wgere we can just buy 3 or 4 of the top 20 players in the league as free agents and not give up prospects. I would rather have good exciting teams every year than go all in for 1 or 2 years and suck for 5-10 years rebuilding.
  8. https://www.mlb.com/news/brewers-will-add-to-trade-haul-with-no-34-draft-pick?partnerID=mlbapp-android_article-share I think this is a pretty solid article on out draft. I think the big take away is the part where Johnson says the top 10 have separated and from there to 50 is pretty close. To me that says that we are likely to pick a lower ranked player at 17 (and maybe comp a) and use the savings later.
  9. I saw that Joey is going to do a rehab stint. If he plays say 2 games in the minors it leaves 2 games or do we just think he is going to rehab in AAA through the allstar break.
  10. I don't disagree just that there are 25 pitchers on the 40 man (3 on 60 likely to come of soon). Add in Misi maybe Patrick at some point and a pitcher in a trade and Yoho gets pushed way back. I don't have a problem with Yoho getting a shot this year, I just can't see our org making it work with how deep pitching is.
  11. If I was a team like Miami, Angels, or White Sox I would be all over Brewer Hicklen. He is going to likely be a 30/40 candidate with a near .400 obp. I really wish we had giving him a shot earlier in the year but now he might be 7th in line if Black is going to playing some OF again (I like that).
  12. I like Yoho as much as the next guy but to expect him to get to the bigs this year is to much. He has 14 AA innings and not to many guys go from A+ to the bigs the year after being an 8th round pick. Don't forget all the DL pitchers coming back who will need a 40 man spot. I just doubt Yoho adds to that.
  13. How concerned should we be about Brock Wilken and EBJ and their lower BA? Wilken's power seems to be coming around and Brown has been a little better. I have given both some leeway with the early injuries but both seem to have way to many 0-4 nights.
  14. It would be great to add Kikuchi and a reliever. I probably wouldn't give up any top prospects but maybe 2 top 20ish prospects and a 3rd piece. Brett Wichrowski, Jadher Arienamo/Juan Baez, and Mark Manfredi for Kichuchi and Yimi Garcia
  15. I think Eric Fedde is my #1 target assuming the price is still reasonable. Carlos Rodriguez, Bradley Blalock, and Joey Weimer/Oliver Dunn. We get 3 40 man roster spots and the White Sox get 2 rotation options and a potential IF/OF starter all with upside and lots of control. Add in Kopech if necessary. Any chance the Cubs could trade Justin Steele if they sell. I doubt we would be an option but he would look perfect in our rotation. Black, Boeve, Wichrowski, Manfredi???
  16. MacKenzie Gore and Jake Irvins are the only guys I would give anything meaningful for (not counting Abrams/Wood). I doubt either are available. If Trevor Williams gets a good start or 2 in maybe but I wouldnt give up much for him.
  17. Love me some undervalued guys. Great list. Love Ryan Campos, I must have misses him in my research to this point. Here are 12 more I have liked (rating mlb.com). Chris Cortez (85): Big arm reliever, who averaged almost 3 innings a game. Could be a faster developing Shane Smith. Jackson Barberi (99): 6'4" 185 HS arm, 92-94 up to 97, promising slider and changeup. Lots of project ability. Conrad Cason (102): 17 year old 4 spot, potential 2 way player. Great fastball and secondary stuff. I could see a Knoth like rise here. Anson Seibert (108) 6'8" HS player 92-94 up to 97. We love giant pitchers. Robert Hipwell (139): Strong bat, was suspended for most of last season. It doesn't seem like we worry much about that if it isn't a major character flaw (Zamora, Erceg). Drew Rerick (140): 6'5" 230 HS from North Dakota, throws up to 98. Could be overlooked just because he is from ND. Nate Dohm (165): Solid pitcher for Miss. St. who missed a good chunk of the year with a forearm strain. 55 fastball, slide, curve, and control could make for a steal. Corey Collins (170): A top notch college senior bat, no real defensive home. He has some catcher potential even at 6'5" and no one develops defensive catchers better than us. Emiliano Pitre (173): More bb than k's with sneaky pop (31 xbh, not rated (30) well) and great athleticism. Luke Sinnard (185): 6'8" 250, hurt all of 2024 (Tommy john June 2023). 114 k's/25 bb in 86 innings at Indiana in 23'. Definitely some big upside here. Jace Souza (186): HS OF from Hawaii, solid across the board skills and upside. Jakob Christian (216): 6'5" 225 OF/1B prospect who destroyed at San Diego and a division 2 school in 2023 (54 hr's in 103 games). As a later pick there looks to be some real upside.
  18. At this point we have 2/3 Civale starts before the deadline to see if he will be more depth or top of the rotation. If Civale looks really good I think think we don't necessarily need to do much. If he looks more like the 5 era pitcher he has been this year then we should try and add someone else.
  19. At this point I feel like there is a pretty good chance Rhys picks up next years option. I do like Nate Lowe a bunch and he would be a great add. Scherzer would be sweet, Eovaldi and Lorenzen would be nice. Jon Gray would probably be my target in Texas, He has a plus slider and a 95 mph fastball that needs a bit of adjustment. I think he would be the type of starter our staff could level up and he has a year of control.
  20. Solid deal, Civale should be a solid back-end starter with a ceiling of a 2/3 based on the 1st half last year. Barrios is a tough loss but by no means anything that hurt our organization.
  21. Boeve 23 is crazy . Galindez at 15 is surprising, is his stuff better than I thought, not sure how Baez, Rodriguez, and Barrios aren't there as said above. Fot me Logan Henderson is getting close to the top 100.
  22. Another reliable starter or 2, doesn't need to be Crochet. We are so far behind the Dodgers and Phillies on overall and star talent that big adds won't do it. To win it all we need 4 consistent starters who can go 5-6 innings and not allow more than a couple runs. If the rotation can keep us in the game against the best lineups we have a chance. Fedde, Severino, Kuchchi, maybe Tyler Anderson, Quantrill, or a few others who can be reliable 3's.
  23. I am OK with trading Joey but I hate trading low on a high potential player. I don't know if Joey at this point even gets Kopech or any decent rental pitcher. With the 40 roster crunch coming a trade would make sense maybe just for a stronger lotto ticket style player maybe in the mold of Di Turro just to save a roster spot.
