  1. It seems like every team has a ton of players injured, especially pitchers. Has anyone read anything with any stats on the amount of injuries in the league so far. It just feels like every time has 2ish starters on the IL and a key piece of the bullpen or two. Maybe it is nothing and this thread isn't needed.
  2. Offensively Rhys is about where we would have expected .800 ops with 30 hr pace. I agree that the defense and double plays are concerning but coming off an lost year I will give him another week or two before thinking he needs to be a full time DH.
  3. No to Kemp, may as well bring up Owen Miller in that case. I would give Weimer a start or two and then it Brewer the Brewer time.
  4. I love how we do this rotate good arms on the fringe of rosters dance. Most of our bullpen has kind of been these pickups who show enough and work their way into a full time gig. It stink for guys like Herget but it is what we have to do to have an affordable and effective pen.
  5. Anyone know what Murph was upset about there in the 7th. I am stuck watching the O's broadcast and no one knew.
  6. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/brewers-vs-padres/2023/04/13/718589/final/wrap Here is a box score from the 14th game last year. What an amazing job Arnold (and the development team) has done with the offense and bullpen. Even piecing together a decent rotation. At this point last year that team was 9-4, I have way more faith in this team than last years. Especially if our prospects stop getting hurt and we can find another top of the rotation starter to trade for down the road.
  7. Great to see all the amazing young pitchers that were later picks/lower int. signing pitching well. Great job on getting some solid video, Letson's breaking balls looked really strong.
  8. Here is my favorite mock as of now 1)C Jackson Powers-Johnson I am not a huge Myers fan, one of Myers/Johnson could move to G this year and solidify the interior line before we lose Myers next year (potentially). Johnson would anchor a more power centered run game. 2)S Tyler Nubin I think he would be a perfect fit next to McKinnley, I wouldn't mind taking him in the 1st even if it is a bit of a reach. 2)T Kingsley Suamataia This is kind a an upside pick, he was a huge recruit and wasn't exceptional at BYU. He has all the potential of a top 10 pick but may need a year to realize his potential. 3)LB Junior Colson I am at the point where I like most of the LB's but don't love any of them, we can get a good one in the 3rd and maybe double up later in the draft. 3) S/CB Dadrion Taylor-Demerson Demerson would be a nice depth pick, he could play in a lot of sub packages early in his career and has the upside to be a solid starter at S or CB because of the athletism. 4) TE Theo Johnson At 6'6" 260, he was a combine star. He didn't have a great career and Penn. St but again this would be an upside pick and give us insurance if Kraft or Musgrave get inquired. 5) RB Ray Davis Kind of like LB, I like a lot of the RB's but haven't found that guy. There will be some good RB's that fall to day 3. 6)LB Nathaniel Watson Super productive college career, as a 3rd/4th ilb we will take it. 6) DL/Edge Logan Lee Another productive career, at 6"5 280ish he can be used a bunch of ways. 7) QB Austin Reed Kind of a project at QB, but with Clifford there is upside, I like an old school gunslinger. 7) K Will Riechard Please no Carlson, I know we signed guys to compete with Carlson, Riechard was pretty reliable at Bama I will take it. I think this draft has a nice blend of upside and day 1 ready guys that would provide depth now and some all-pro's later.
  9. To go up to 6 is going to cost alot more, add in next years 1st and you are close. I like Alt a bunch but we can find o-line help cheaper.
  10. It's going to be a good day to follow games. Go Brewers
  11. I am not real worried about exit velocity this early. For starters Sal at his best is never going to hit for power. As more of a slap hitter, he will just never own that stat. That being said 1 xbh in 38 abs is worrisome. I feel like Turang has been hitting the ball hard so far, he has had a bloop or two and some seeing eye singles. I think he has also attempted a couple bunts that may lowering his average velo. For both of these guys as long as they are keeping k's down, take their walks, and put the ball in play (use their speed) they will be alright.
  12. Does Perkins get another start? He has been awesome the past couple games. Where are we on Bauers, I don't like that he has more AB's than guys like Ortiz and Perkins but his defense has been superb. I like the player and fit but he needs to hit, especially with Black not far off. What about moving Contreras down to #4? Adames and Rhys aren't quite hot enough to be clean up. I like sound of 1)Sal LF 2)Chourio RF 3)Yeli DH 4)C Contreras 5)SS Willy 6)2B Turang 7)1B Rhys 8)CF Perkins 9)3B Ortiz (or Dunn)
  13. Wow, loving Dylan O'Rae I was happy they were aggressive and put him in A+. If he keeps playing the way he has he might force his way to AA by June-ish. Boeve also is probably a guy who could get a promotion earlier in the season especially if Wilken heats up and forces his way into AAA.
  14. He is also listed at 6'2" 172 so he should be around 100 when he fills out.
  15. I had forgot Brandon Belt is a free agent still until I read a bleacher report that we should sign him. With Bauers not hitting well and Dunn starting to come back down to Earth I think that might be a great idea. He could platoon at 1st (not a great fielder anymore) and DH a bunch. He would fit into that 5 hole nicely. With Sal starting to heat up he could slide into leadoff for Dunn vs RHP. I doubt it would cost more than 3-5 million at this point. He is a respected vet who has won it all, could really round out the team.
  16. I wouldn't be against trading for him at the deadline he is for sure the type of pitcher we need and have the prospects for. I wonder if a similar package as Cease got would work? Black, CRod, Weimer/Mitchell is a package close to what Cease was traded for. It seems like a lot but we could get by and still have a strong farm system.
  17. It is good to see some fight, last year in the first half if we were down more than 3 I just turned the TV off. The defense stunk today but I'll give it a little break, not really for Rhys (iffy on Sal). I am really getting worried about our rotation not getting any depth in the game. We are going to destroy our pen if we average 4.5 innings per game from the pen (not sure what the accurate amount is).
  18. Since it is just a 4 seem fastball it would seem really easy to put back into the arsenal, at least easier than an off-speed pitch. With his sinker being so hard (98-100) I get using it more but I don't quite get when guys don't just have/throw a fastball. I think it is to early to say if it is making him more hittable, 4 hits in 4 innings is worse than last year but hardly enough to make any judgements. Last year baseball savant only had him at 6 % fastballs.
  19. That Weimer swing looks 100% better, good to see some success. With everyone playing well on the big league roster we really don't need him unless there is an injury.
  20. I doubt it, they would be trading low on him. He is affordable through 27' so that is a lot of time to get his value back. They should get a haul on Luzardo, Arraez, and Scott at the deadline if they are out of it. I think there is a decent chance the Rays or Jays sell of a bunch of pieces into a rebuild, the Red Sox look good to start the year and someone in that division is finally going to struggle. The White Sox, A's, Nats, and Rockies don't have much to trade for (other than Robert). It's a bit early to speculate about other teams that are struggling.
  21. By end of 2024 (start 2025)= 1B)Hoskins 2B/SS) Turang/Oritz 3B) Dunn, Willy plays well and we get 2 solid prospects for him at the deadline. I think Tyler Black will be traded with a couple other prospects for a controllable young starter at the deadline. Wilken might get some time the last month of the year. Early/Mid 2025= 1B)Hoskins/Yeli 2B)Ortiz/Dunn SS)Turang 3B)Wilken/Dunn I still would like to see Yeli get some reps at 1st one of these years but it kind of depends on Wiemer's bat/Mitchell's health or how fast Lara/Yophery can climb through the ranks. If Weimer and Mitchell look good this year, I would give Yeli some 1st reps next year if not maybe 2026 (my guess is one of Lara or Yophery will fly through the minors, or we draft a college OF bat). EBJ maybe makes a run at Mone's spot and some MI if he plays well this year. Pratt/O'Rae/Baez ready by late 2026 or so but they are to far to guess where they might play or how much.
  22. I've always struggled with the pitch framing stat idea. If you have a staff of quality accurate pitchers (Miley Burnes, Houser, Woody) it is going to be easier to frame pitches. Wild pitchers. (Hall, Ross) are going to be way more difficult to frame. Say a catchers sets up down and away and the pitchers throws one 2 inches outside, but easy to frame. Same circumstance but this time the pitch is 2 inches low, hard to frame. I am pretty sure the stat just recognizes both pitches the same and doesn't take the target into effect.
  23. Any word on the Quero injury on if it's the lesser or more major version. My guess is it is the bad on if we are adding Mejia. I always liked Mejia and with are ability to help catchers defensively he will be great insurance.
