  1. Underperforming Brewers: Corbin Burnes, Freddy Peralta, Willy Adames, Tyrone Taylor, Christian Yelich (relative to his Xstats), William Contreras (with the bat), Key Injuries: Brandon Woodruff, Aaron Ashby, Luis Urias, Wade Miley, Sal Frelick (all slated to return at some point) Overperforming Brewers: Owen Miller, Bryse Wilson? Joel Payamps?..... Positive regression/better injury luck forthcoming...
  2. He should make contact, hit for a high average, and get on base. 70 grade hit tool. We need more of that.
  3. Gives you the option to sit Turang and/or Wiemer more depending on matchups. Need to limit the # of at-bats we're getting from sub .700 OPS guys.
  4. Not ready for prime time.
  5. OAA and arm strength increase, though...
  6. That would be Marlins Yelich.
  7. Negative WAR since rookie season...You can't get around that. "Jerked around" is simply BS. Brewers gave him EVERY opportunity in 2020, 2021, and then last year, he was inserted into the everyday lineup for a month despite an unsustainable 41% K rate and he predictably proceeded to OPS below .600.
  8. I'm willing to wait another week or so, but the Voit experiment has just about run its course. I think we could find Keston enough PAs even with Winker.
  9. Jerked around? He's been worth a negative WAR since his rookie season...Keston has been the author of his own misfortunes. He also has the opportunity to be the author of his own redemption.
  10. Yeah, substitute Keston for Voit on the 26 man and the 40 man. Winker still has time. Voit does not. It couldn't hurt us.
  11. If there's one thing Jesse Winker has zero issues with, it's putting the bat on the ball.... Also, Wiemer has produced the exact same bWAR as Renfroe. Renfroe is what he is at this point. FWIW, one of the guys we got for him has been a huge help out of the bullpen so far.
  12. 2022 and his start to this season have been huge outliers from a slugging perspective (though backed up by batted ball metrics). It's important to remember that he had two separate injuries last year and is coming off neck surgery this year, which can take time to recover power. He's also only 29, which is not generally an age where players fall off the face of the earth (though he could be an exception) Do I think this can go on forever? No. But his .355 OBP (2nd on the team) is still quite valuable for a team that has otherwise struggled to get on base. He doesn't have forever, but I don't think he's running out of time just yet (at least a month). He's had less than 30 games... Voit is the one whose time is running out. DFA Voit, call up Hiura, and rotate him at DH/1B/LF to see if he's truly turned the corner. If he has and Winker is still showing no power, then go ahead and DFA Winker and make him the regular DH.
  13. As the mod said, this comment is totally unnecessary.... I'll just spell it out then. Why are we 18-11 despite a middling offense at this point? Run prevention, in particular, the #1 defense in baseball by DRS. Who are #2 and #3 in DRS on the team after Contreras? Joey Wiemer and Brice Turang with 4 DRS each... So, by solely focusing on what they're doing at the plate, you're completely ignoring their contributions when it comes to preventing runs, which have been a huge part of our winning ballgames. Take that away and we'd be worse off, despite their offensive struggles.
  14. Yeah but you were talking about expectations for this team coming into the season…
  15. Except that’s not what “rational people” (models) thought and still continue to think…Maybe you’re confusing rationalism with pessimism.
  16. We're winning games because of our defense right now, with Turang playing a major role in that. I don't think some posters quite appreciate that. Until Urias gets healthy, Turang is by far our best option at 2B atm.
  17. We avoid Ohtani and Sandoval. Cardinals, who play the Angels starting tonight, get those guys. Love it.
  18. A little. But a high walk-rate is okay for relievers with shutdown stuff, which he clearly has. See Williams, Devin.
  19. As much as I hate to say it, he sure would look good in this pen with his avg velocity back over 100 MPH.
  20. Yeah. We should be fine experimenting with those guys until the deadline imo. I'd throw Peguero into the mix, too. His sinker, slider combination is pretty nasty.
  21. Think he's better suited in the 6th/7th innings, serving as a bridge from starters to set-up man/Devin. Abner Uribe would be the guy internally who could fill the 8th inning role. Aroldis Chapman could be a consideration at the deadline. I'm hoping they promote Uribe to AAA within the next couple of weeks. Unless they think he'll be able to make the jump right from AA.
