  1. If he starts play a lot more 3B then I think it could be an option but so far he's only played 5 games at 3B on the season.
  2. That's good though I think I probably would have gone with say your back is bothering you on 4/11/24
  3. Going to need the bats to show up big in Cincy with no Patrick for the series.
  4. I don’t think it will be Gasser sent down. Brewers start an 18 in 17 stretch on Friday. Don’t think the Brewers are in a spot to option an arm that can give them length
  5. And when he throws all 3 innings to finish the game then what?
  6. Because you shouldn’t be using your 4th best reliever and best long arm up 7 runs. Especially taking into consideration the Brewers have Woodruff making his first start off a long IL stint and Sproat pitching the next two days where you very well could need a long arm.
  7. Surely Murphy isn’t going to burn our 4th best reliever up at least 6 runs in the 7th inning
  8. Honestly I have a bigger gripe with Contreras pitch calling to Albies than Murphy's managing. You already saw Albies hit a FB away out to RF tonight and he once again was clearly looking for Ashby's sinker based on him being way out in front on the changeup and nearly chasing the curveball in the dirt the pitch before. You got burned once. Getting burned twice by the same guy in the same fashion was very frustrating.
  9. Spencer walked back that post a bit when he realized Megill has had reverse splits his whole career. I think the numbers certainly back up that it should have just been Megill as always especially when you take into consideration Ashby hasn't been pitching particularly well lately and he has very little experience closing out games (only 1 traditional save in his career and that was in a 3 run game) wRC+ vs RHP then vs LHP Baldwin - 130, 178 Olson - 141, 143 Albies - 101, 120 Harris - 143, 122 Then here are the platoon splits for Megill and Ashby wOBA vs RHH then LHH Megill - .298, .190 Ashby - .292, .293
  10. Pirates load up the bases again tonight in the 9th down by 1 in Coors. This time with 1 out. They don't get a run across and lose. The game ended on an interference call on a grounder to 3B.
  11. Homer in me says it was a swing but I don't think it was an egregious missed call. Definitely more of a 50-50
  12. I think Vaughn is pretty likely to be back next year in his final year of arb.
  13. The Brewers have done this numerous times. 2021 - Adames in May, Tellez in early July 2024 - Civale in early July 2025 - Priester in April Like you said it also takes two to tango and right now there are only 7 teams more than 3,5 games out of a playoff spot and of those 7 teams, 5 came into the season with some intention of competing (Detroit, Boston, Kansas City, NYM, San Francisco)
  14. Anyone else think this is a very generous triple ruling for Harper to get his cycle?
  15. I think age does matter but with Adams I'm not really sure it matters as much. He's already pretty maxed out physically so I don't think you can project more bat speed or raw power and he doesn't have any glaring holes in his game that you could project might improve as he gets older. I think he mostly just is what he is and what he always has been in the minor leagues and that's a RHH 1B with a low BA and high OBP that is very reliant on HBP to boost up.
  16. For me it's RHH 1B only profile with average to slightly above average raw power and extreme passiveness at the plate. It's also a profile that has relied heavily on HBP through the minors with a BA topping out at .233 in full season ball all the way in A ball. If the HBP dry up against MLB pitching, I don't think the bat is good enough to survive as a 1B.
  17. I've found a new scapegoat for this game and it's Joey Ortiz. Joey's casual defense allowing Eli White to get an infield single had down stream effects that turned Riley's groundout in the 7th from an inning ending groundout to an RBI groundout.
  18. Counsell managed both the best and worst versions of Yelich. Overall in Counsell's tenure Yelich had a 135 wRC+. In Murphy's tenure Yelich has a 129 wRC+
  19. Not that I really want to get sucked into this argument because I think it's silly but I think most would probably agree that Murphy has had better teams to manage, right?
  20. Spencer kind of walked that statement back after he realized Megill has had reverse splits in his career
  21. Megill is but Murphy tried to get cute with the matchups tonight.
