  1. I really pray the Reds operate like you want them. Please blow the farm system for rental/old starting pitchers!
  2. Also Luis Castillo. I remember a while back you said he could return soon after Luis Lara but I am guessing he re-injured himself.
  3. Feel like Mendez and Guilarte are the big ones right now.
  4. Still can't believe they not only didn't trade Bard but gave him a big extension last trade deadline. Madness from them and it's worked out like absolute crap.
  5. 2020 - 189 PA, .338 xwOBA 2023 - 200 PA, .340 xwOBA He's hitting about as well as he did in 2020 over a very similar sample size. However in 2020 he had a .292 BABIP so he underperformed his xwOBA and in 2023 he has a .406 BABIP so he's overperforming his xwOBA
  6. Jam shot that caused thumb soreness. Curt Hogg said he is expected to return to play as soon as this week. It’s about all we have gotten.
  7. Ashcraft has shown nothing yet in his MLB career to be listed with those other names.
  8. Not to mention Adames, Urias, and Winker all had good games at the plate. We desperately need those 3 to start hitting better and hopefully today was the day that starts happening.
  9. Figured I would start a thread on this. It's a fun little daily baseball trivia game that I have enjoyed playing the last few weeks. https://www.immaculategrid.com/
  10. This is an optimism thread we are also 6-1 against the Reds and Pirates this year .
  11. That's 1 average SP not 3 like you said. I've also seen nobody say Freddy is an above average pitcher this season. Two above average RP by ERA+ doesn't make an above average bullpen. Good relievers typically carry ERA+ far above 100. For comparison's sake here is the Brewers bullpen by ERA+ DW - 227 Payamps - 172 Wilson - 152 Milner - 144 Peguero - 156 Megill - 129 Strzelecki - 88 Here is Cincinnati's bullpen which is average by WPA. Diaz - 257 Farmer - 204 Gibaut - 140 Young - 169 Sims - 171 That Cardinals bullpen is just flat out bad.
  12. 5-0 Nationals in the 2nd inning against the league average SP. Also the scary Nolan Gorman that was included up with Goldschmidt and Arenado has a 48% K-rate in June and has seen his wRC+ drop from 148 at the end of May to currently 118 after his first AB today.
  13. One of the Cardinals "league average SP" has already given up 3 runs in the 1st inning against the incredible Washington Nationals offense!
  14. Their run differential is 1 run better than the Brewers lol. They also have a terrible bullpen so them underperforming their run differential is not at all surprising.
  15. Where are you getting above average bullpen and 3 average starting pitchers from? Cards bullpen has been one of the worst in the MLB this year and Helsley is on the IL with forearm tightness. Mikolas and Flaherty are not average SP. Their ERA- are both below league average and their xERA and peripheral batted numbers are well below league average. Montgomery is their only SP who is average or better
  16. Players I think are could be ready for promotions. A - Lara, Adams, Wehrle, Smith A+ - Lazar AA - Black, Campbell A+ is a bit of a log jam with not a lot of players deserving of promotions. I think they could push Gray again if Lara gets promoted to A+. Woessner I think could handle a promotion but I feel like he needs to maintain his velo deeper into starts before he’s truly ready for a promotion.
  17. If only Brewers fans on this site believed in the Brewers as much as they do the Cardinals.
  18. As of today: Brent Suter - 2.88 ERA, 3.39 FIP, 4.47 xFIP Chase Anderson - 4.12 ERA, 5.68 FIP, 4.85 xFIP Vs their Brewers counterparts that you wanted to replace Bryse Wilson - 2.83 ERA, 3.90 FIP, 4.64 xFIP Colin Rea - 4.71 ERA, 4.80 FIP, 4.34 xFIP Julio Teheran - 1.78 ERA, 3.73 FIP, 4.43 xFIP Thank goodness we didn't trade prospects away for Suter and Anderson and just continued to ride with what we had considering they have performed pretty much on par with Suter and Anderson.
  19. I think there are plenty of AAAA guys in Nashville that the Brewers can simply release if they wanted to get time for Valerio in AAA. Eddy Alvarez, Josh VanMeter, Skye Bolt, Monte Harrison, Tyler Naquin, Roman Quinn, Michael Reed. Those are all AAAA type guys who shouldn't prevent a prospect from being promoted and getting playing time in AAA.
  20. Greinke had a 93 ERA- in Milwaukee. He didn't pitch like an ace when we had him. Sheets had a couple seasons where he pitched like an ace but 87 ERA- in his career in Milwaukee isn't exactly ace material.
  21. Out of qualified pitchers, Burnes is 28th in ERA and 45th in FIP. That's not ace level pitching. Just because it is better than Gallardo and Greinke who never pitched like aces in Milwaukee doesn't mean that it's ace level pitching.
  22. Feels like this is just delaying the inevitable.
  23. This isn't even a hindsight thing either. Basically everybody I know who remotely follows the Brewers minor leagues hated that trade.
  24. You should absolutely never draft by need in the MLB draft. Always draft the best player available that fits the team's signing bonus strategy.
