  1. I think it's super easy to jettison a guy like Payamps. Even if he turns it around he's a sure thing non-tender candidate in the offseason considering he'd be set to make like $5M in Arb 3 which the Brewers will never pay for a middle reliever. DFA'ing him is risking losing 4 months of a solid relief pitcher albeit one that can't be option and that Murphy currently doesn't trust to pitch leverage spots unless all the leverage arms are unavailable. DFA him and bring up someone who can shuttle so we always have fresh middle relief arms if Murphy isn't going to trust them.
  2. So what about him riding Abner Uribe like he's rubber armed Hoby Milner? Since Uribe was activated from his suspension he's 1st in G and 13th in IP among relievers. Yesterday he had Uribe throw for the 3rd day in a row despite throwing 35 pitches the previous two days.
  3. Also the double that Patrick gave up wasn't even a roped double. It was an 88 EV soft double down the line that frankly Isaac Collins would have caught if he was in LF not Bauers. Don't even need to have him start the 6th but saving Zastryzny from the up down maybe lets him get the whole 6th.
  4. Honestly I'd can Murphy before he does to Anderson, Uribe, Koenig, Mears what he did to Hudson last year. Since those guys were activated to the ML roster this is how much they've been used relative to MLB (not including today). Anderson - 8th in IP Uribe - 1st in G, 13th in IP Mears - 1st in G Koenig - 2nd in G Just insane usage because Murphy refuses to use his B/C arms any time it's a close game. If you aren't going to can Murphy then give him arms he is going to trust more. DFA Payamps. He's pitched better after an awful start to the year but just DFA him. He's getting non-tendered in the offseason either way because we aren't paying a middle reliever $5M a year. Murphy doesn't trust him unless he's basically the last arm available. Get him off the roster. Need to get Hall and Ashby back who Murphy trusts and both should be capable of going multiple innings.
  5. I mean Murphy is pulling starters earlier than they have to be pulled because of his "win today" motto. Patrick did not need to be pulled after 89 pitches today.
  6. Murphy's horrific in game management and bullpen management has been so exposed this year with a worse team.
  7. Yeah I don't think that will happen and I don't think the Brewers view him as that considering he's only played 3B in his career compared to guys like Black, Boeve, Adams who have played a lot of 1B in addition to the 3B.
  8. I wouldn't go as far to say it's good but it's said it's somewhere between average and above-average. What he lacks in range and fluidity he makes up for by having a very strong arm and being pretty sure handed.
  9. Just nevermind
  10. If someone told you at the start of the season that on 5/20 that not only did Hoskins, Frelick, and Turang have 145, 117, and 116 wRC+ but the Brewers starting rotation would have a 3.21 ERA since 4/1...you'd probably assume that the Brewers were one of if not the best team in baseball. Instead they are a game below .500...funny how baseball works.
  11. Abner Uribe throws a nasty 100mph sinker but somehow it's not even his best pitch. His slider is truly a thing of beauty. After tonight it has a 53.8% whiff rate. 42 whiffs on 78 swings. Just absolutely absurd stuff from him. He's our best reliever and I'm not sure it's close.
  12. Yeah I don't think this Carolina team is going to get a hit off Sykora unless it's a fluky type hit. Just supremely overmatched but hard to blame them because a guy like Sykora would probably be in AA in the Brewers system.
  13. So either Carolina's social media team put out the wrong lineup or Luis Pena was a late scratch.
  14. I looked it up when I saw he was the projected starter. Started the year on the IL, so I think he's probably just stretching out and will be moved to A+ when he's more stretched out.
  15. There's a pretty crazy pitching imbalance in the minor league system right now. Including rehabbing pitchers this is how the pitching staffs look. AAA - 18 pitchers AA - 16 pitchers A+ - 17 pitchers A - 13 pitchers ACL - 14 pitchers Those numbers are really small for Carolina and the ACL especially when you take into consideration that at those levels you aren't going to see a rotation of pitchers stretched out to 90+ pitches.
  16. DeBerry also promoted to A+, (Really hope this isn't a precursor to a Letson IL stint). Also there's surely going to be some pitchers headed to Carolina considering with no DeBerry they are down to just 13 pitchers. https://x.com/TimberRattlers/status/1924888369797996855
  17. Dorchies looks fascinating. Really good spin and his command looked pretty darn good for an 18 year old in the Complex. A lot of pitches right on the edge or just off it.
  18. Willingly taking your best hitter out of the lineup in a tie game in the 7th inning is just so moronic.
  19. It's May 19th and the Brewers are 3 games under .500. It's not time to be just throwing Priester out to just deal with it. Maybe two months from now that will be true, but for now the Brewers need to be trying their best to win games and with the anemic offense that means using openers for starters with huge platoon splits
  20. Yeah he was but approach wise he's in a way worse place right now than he ever was last year. He honestly has one of the worst approaches in MLB
