    Skubal is a pending FA and if a player is traded mid-season they cannot have a QO put on them to net a comp pick.

    I feel like trying to make this Gasser-Henderson comparison is a bit odd because Henderson has done this for 10 starts now and has done it in a much more sustainable way than Gasser did. He's also a more regarded prospect than Gasser ever was. Henderson first 10 starts - 2.72 FIP, 3.14 xFIP, 33% K-rate, 7% BB-rate Gasser before TJ - 3.38 FIP, 4.18 xFIP, 14% K-rate, 1% BB-rate

    I think saying Freddy isn't better than Misiorowski, Harrison, or Henderson isn't out of line. Yes Freddy has a much longer track record than them but Freddy since the start of 2023 has a 94 FIP-. I think Freddy has been overrated by Brewers fans for a few years in part because Brewers media tried to portray him as an ace.

    Freddy was a Cy Young candidate last year because his ERA was like a run better than all of his peripherals. He's not a Cy Young contender level pitcher and the only reason he was ever called an Ace is because Brewers media pushed that label onto him.

    This thread is kind of unbelievable. Brewers have a dominant win on the back of Misiorowski throwing another dominant start to extend the division lead to 2.5 and push the team to 11 games over .500 and like 40% of the comments are complaining about Perkins who even after an 0-4 day is still hitting way better against LHP than Frelick is this year which including Lockridge being injured are the only reasons he's on the roster.

    I really hope Murphy doesn't throw Drohan out of being available in the Cardinals series.

    I think the Brewers success does allow Sproat to have a longer leash but I think we are fast approaching a kind of breaking point. This is his 10th game and he's only gone 5 innings in 3 of those 10 games. He's only gone more than 12 outs in 5 of his 10 games.

    He’s never going to get traded so it’s probably not worth thinking too much about, but I think he’s almost certain to opt out of his contract after 2030 so you’d be getting 4+ years of control of him.

    I’d be down with getting rid of Woodford and activating Zastryzny off the IL. I know his ERA is good but Hall has shown to not be reliable as a middle reliever because he can’t throw strikes. He can move to the more mop-up/long man type of role and Rob Z can be the middle reliever type. That way we won’t have a guy in the pen who only pitches two times in 19 days like Woodford just did.

    Last year we saw the Brewers pretty quickly ditch Capra and Dunn and replaced them with Durbin so not sure where you're getting this idea that the Brewers are going to keep someone like Rengifo and Perkins on the roster all year (they literally already optioned Perkins to AAA twice this year btw)

    Chourio chasing ball four 6 inches below the zone then watching strike three right down the middle is a pretty fitting way for this game to end. Flush it.

    Could be though if I had to guess, I'd guess that Contreras days off are planned in advance and built into the schedule.

    I would definitely say noise considering half of those 1B PA were in 2024 when he wasn’t the same hitter he is now.

    Don't think a single pitcher to step on that mound tonight pitched close to their best and they held the best offense in baseball to 1 run. Seriously impressive stuff.

    I think the hope is that they always keep around one guy. Braun was that guy for the 2010's. Yelich is that guy for the 2020's. Maybe Chourio will be that guy for the 2030's. I was kind of hoping Turang could be that guy but the longer he goes without an extension the more unlikely I think one would be.

    He was but if I recall the Brewers paid down his salary to the minimum in that trade so I don't think Cortes was carrying much of any value in that trade. Quintana the prospect was the value going out.

    Until he starts pitching better, I am going to blame the giant lipper he plays with now that he didn't play with before. Is it stupid of me to do that? Yes but I am still going to do it because he looks look an idiot with the giant lipper in while he's on the mound.

    Well good news and bad news. Good news is today has been the best Priester has looked so far on his rehab journey in terms of stuff and command. The bad news is his velo is still down 1-2 ticks from where it was a year ago and he's thrown 18 strikes and 17 balls through 2 innings.

    Yes Cardinals were 25th out of 26 teams in ISO though in the WS the Cardinals had a higher ISO than the Brewers did.

    29, 45, 62 pitches in his first rehab stint. He went 47 pitches in his first start of the second rehab stint. I think the 5 innings is the more unrealistic part than the pitch count. The stuff and command just hasn't been anywhere near good enough to pitch through 5 innings even against minor league talent.
