  1. They have 3 hitting coaches now not 2 and the lead hitting coach is 65 years old and has never been an MLB hitting coach before
  2. There's a lot of glue. Adames was a good clubhouse guy. Ueck when he was around always lightened the mood. Berry was a good energy guy. Rea and Miley were good clubhouse guys. Brewers lost a lot of good clubhouse people this offseason.
  3. Perks of hiring a competent hitting coach and not hiring your 65 year old buddy that's never been an MLB hitting coach
  4. Or the Brewers just suck. They are 28th in offensive xwOBA, 19th in pitcher xwOBA, and pretty average defensively.
  5. Pulling Myers at 72 pitches when you're basically guaranteed a loss is just so dumb
  6. I think the Brewers need to fire Al Laboeuf. So many of these hitters just look awful at the plate. Timing is off. Swing decisions are awful. This team needs a shock move and firing Laboeuf is the easiest one you have.
  7. Just really bad hitting in the first. Chourio and Yelich can't take advantage of middle-middle mistakes. Frelick watches strike 1 right down the middle then swings and pitch 2 dotted down and in.
  8. Can you forfeit minor league games? If not we might see like 5 innings of position players pitching today for Carolina
  9. I do wonder if Wande Torres might benefit from a demotion to the ACL. He's really struggled in Carolina and jumping straight from the DSL to A ball probably isn't the easiest for a pitcher.
  10. Yeah this is really bad. I don't even think Torres is going to get out of the 2nd inning.
  11. I have no clue how Carolina is going to get through these next two games pitcher wise. Wande looks set for a very short outing. I assume Welch will start tomorrow but there will be a lot of innings to eat tonight.
  12. He's small for a catcher just in terms of build. Most catcher's are a bit sturdier. Seems like he can make it work back there with more reps. Per his fangraphs scouting report he's popped sub 1.90 pop times so the arm is good.
  13. Not saying anything is wrong with the comments. Just saying it's bizarre that after making these comments last night that he moved Chourio back to the 2 hole after going 0-4 with 4 pretty awful strikeouts.
  14. There were quite a few. "It's perspective. Hey Jackson, look around. If you're going to hit in the middle of the order - he's done great, and this kid is not, quote, at his best an still putting up some pretty impressive figures, hitting balls hard - you've got to meet the game halfway" "You have a guy who can spot the baseball and scoot it over this much and make you swing at it every time, fly out to right, that's too simple. He's better than that. And he's got to see that. And maybe hitting a little lower will take the pressure off a little" "Trying to get him to understand the ball-strike thing a little better. When you're hitting in the top of the order and you're swinging at almost every pitch, it makes it hard to run in front of him. I'm not saying don't swing when it's a strike, but when you're leaving the zone, then that's it's hard to get your offense going" "When you're behind in the game, you can't leave the zone. Everybody comes into it saying 'Hey, we just don't have to throw him strikes, go above and go away and soft down'" "We saw some of this early last year, and he came out of it. So, hopefully he will. I don't know if he takes it too personal. He's a young man. We'll get it straightened out"
  15. His underlying data at AAA is pretty poor. I'd guess they think he has no chance against MLB pitching. For reference he has a 28% hard hit rate and 0% barrel rate this year.
  16. So Chourio is back in the 2 hole tonight after being moved to the 6 hole last night and having his second worst game of the season...just bizarre especially taking into consideration Murphy's comments. Who the heck is making the lineups for this team??
  17. Aidan Maldonado pitching for the first time in nearly 3 weeks and has thrown back to back 5 pitch walks.
  18. I’d be flabbergasted if it’s a shoulder or wrist thing. You could see his right pinky bend way to the side when he was sliding into 2B. A broken/dislocated finger would fit the reaction so much more than a shoulder/wrist injury because with a shoulder/wrist injury there likely would have been so much pain that he wouldn’t have celebrated before calling for the trainer.
  19. Hey do you have any news on Hayden Robinson? I feel like most just assumed he wouldn't have pitched in the ACL this year after a late June/early July TJ surgery, but Longenhagen said in his prospect write-up that Robinson is slated to return to game action soon.
  20. Al Laboeuf should be on the hot seat. This is abysmal. Chourio looks worse than he ever did last year and he looked really bad the first two months last season.
  21. He broke his pinky on the slide into 2B. Could clearly see it on the replay. What a bummer especially considering it was the first time they moved him to 3B this year.
  22. You don't need command to get whiffs especially at the minor league level. This is a guy who is a basically a consensus Top 15/20 prospect in our system by the industry but in 80+ innings at AA he has an 18% K-rate and a whiff rate under 25% and it goes beyond the whiffs. Watching most of his starts he just rarely seems to have uncomfortable swings against him. Just feels like his prospect ranking is more about what they want him to be and not what he is.
