  1. The only way Sale will pitch tomorrow is if the Braves making the playoffs comes down to the 2nd game of the doubleheader. They have Schwellenbach to pitch game 1 of the doubleheader if they need to win.
  2. So yeah worst scenario is Braves clinch today and we still end up playing them as they wouldn’t be trying in the double header game tomorrow and would have Sale, Fried, Lopez lined up for the WC round
  3. My concern with scenario 2 is if all 3 teams win tomorrow and the Mets win game 1 of the DH and both teams have clinched the playoffs would they play the second game of the doubleheader even if both teams are tied? If no then by my understanding the Mets would have the tiebreaker and be the 5 seed. They would be 6-6 against each other and the Mets have the better divisional record which the tiebreaker would defer to. In that scenario the Braves already clinched so they don’t won’t use any of their good pitchers. They would have Sale, Fried, Lopez lined up for the WC series which honestly seems like worst case scenario to me.
  4. Max chaos would be Mets win, Braves lose, Dbacks win. Mets and Braves would both get into the playoffs if they split the doubleheader 1-1 and we would face the Mets.
  5. His defense is seriously a problem.
  6. Myers is on 3 days rest. Pretty doubtful that he's going to be going any longer than 2-3 innings.
  7. Interesting Braves development is they did not pitch Chris Sale today which means he probably threw a simulated game or something yesterday and they are saving him for Game 1 of the WC round. That's a seriously bold decision.
  8. Yeah that's my bad. It was actually once again willie who made that comment.
  9. It's funny to me because we all know that if the Brewers were on the outside looking in with a low probability to make the playoffs that you and Bruised would absolutely not be saying "well the Brewers still have a chance". I mean we saw it first hand with Bruised saying the Brewers had no chance at getting the first round bye after the Phillies series when odds had them between 1 and 7% at passing one of the Phillies/Dodgers. Crazy how that works! Edit: A little digging and wow it was easy to find. On August 19, 2022 the Brewers still had a 22.5% chance of winning the division based on Fangraphs odds and you were saying the division race was over.
  10. Just going to copy and paste a link to @brewerfan82's post when your fellow doomer BruisedCrew tried to make this same point a week or so ago.
  11. Honestly I do agree that Areinamo probably was more deserving than Pratt. I'm really shocked Pratt won it. They really must love his defense at SS as that's the only thing that I see that could put him over players with more PA and better hitting results.
  12. Boeve had 342 PA not 426.
  13. This ump has transcended bad to the point I actually think he has money on this game in some form.
  14. Matt Bush got a couple months and an IL stint into his first full season before he was DFA'd. I see Mears getting a similar leash. It really just makes no sense. He has a 35% K-rate, 33% whiff rate but then a .482 xwOBACON against as a Brewer. It's like he's tipping but only some hitters are able to recognize what he's doing to tip. It's been very all or nothing from him.
  15. No chance they DFA him after giving up a decent haul to get him at the deadline.
  16. For 2 more innings there's a chance. Dodgers are beating the Padres and if that score holds then we are locked into the 3 seed.
  17. The Brewers offense has been an absolute trainwreck in September.
  18. MLB just totally butchered this whole situation. Also both the Mets and Braves setting their playoff rotation up for the WC round has gone to crap.
  19. 7th time he's gotten 4 or more outs this year.
  20. The MLB seriously screwed up not having the Braves and Mets play a doubleheader today. As of now it looks like they are going to need to play a doubleheader on Monday in Atlanta to see who makes the playoffs.
  21. That's a pretty risky contract to give to a guy who will be 34 right around opening day next year.
  22. Bauers is just such an easy non-tender this offseason as well. Ernesto can just take his 40-man spot. Career 83 wRC+ through 1700 MLB PA and and 85 wRC+ this season.
  23. Especially because it's a position the Brewers have very much struggled to consistently fill since Fielder left. Maybe Ernesto doesn't pan out, but I don't see how you could just willingly let him go when 1B is such a problem position and Ernesto has such high upside at the position.
  24. Would be criminal if they don't add him to the 40-man roster before he hits MiLB FA.
