  1. He was so wild it was shocking. Injured?
  2. Then proceeds to throw 34 strikes in his next 43 pitches, 79%. Definitely has come a long ways from last year when he was spiking pitches 5 feet in front of home plate nearly once per batter, but still hasn’t nailed his release-point where he can consistently throw strikes in every outing. Lots of progress, but still a ways to go.
  3. Giving out a long-term extension to a sub .300on-base SS that strikes-out too much, no matter how good his arm is doesn’t make sense — at all.
  4. Hated hearing Miley say he tried to pitch thru-it after first experiencing the lat pain and CC saying he’s going to get multiple second opinions after getting the results from the MRI. Bad feeling on this one, hope I’m wrong.
  5. I think it’s a pretty safe bet Quero and Misiorowski make the top 100. Black if he keeps the power profile should make it as well. Lara if he keeps hitting should make a list or two just because of his age, but might get overlooked. Guilarte just doesn’t have enough pop in the bat yet, but CRod could touch a list if he can improve his command some the next 5-6 weeks.
  6. Looking at the rosters of Milwaukee and St. Louis, I have no idea how MKE can hold-off the Cardinals let alone make it to the deadline in contention of a playoff spot. Outside of the bullpen, as is, this is not a good team. Too many major injuries and too much ineffectiveness. Maybe if Lauer AND Burnes can both pitch like they did in the first half of last season they might hang-in there until Woodruff is back, but that’s not likely to happen and what if they get yet another injury or injuries? The Cardinals pitching, with MKE’s injured rotation is every bit as good, maybe even better and their offense is leaps and bounds better. That vast disparity of talent will eventually move st. Louis ahead in the standings.
  7. I think Zamora is the most important prospect in our system. If he can continue to develop his bat and keep his focus on his throwing I think we might have ourselves a SS that can keep Turang at 2B. The ‘23 early returns on both are encouraging, especially his throwing, sitting on 3 errors vs double-digit this time last year.
  8. Yeah, I’m certainly having fun following our positional prospects in our system. The performances at the ages of 18, 19, 20 from Lara, Guilarte, Chourio and Quero are just incredibly exciting and gives more than just hope to multiple waves of positional prospects reaching MKE over the next 4-5 years.
  9. The team must know his mechanics are off and have been off all year. The fact of his velo being down 2-3mph and command poor with his arm health being good tells us that. If this was an easy fix it would have been done by now, imo.
  10. 1. Chourio 2. Frelick 3. Quero— Future top C prospect in baseball when his bat gets closer to his defense. 4. Black— Future .350/.450/.800 1B 5. Misiorowski— Patience required, but how many pitchers have 2 80-grade pitches and a another at 70. 6. CRod— Has there been a pitching prospect in baseball that has exploded on the scene as much as this guy has since March? 7. Gasser— Command needs work, but the stuff is really good. Eventual mid-rotation arm and combined with 5 years of an all-star C makes the haul received for Hader extraordinary. 8. Lara— 70-grade speed CF with some pop in the bat. Team moved him straight from the DSL to Carolina for a reason. 9. Guilarte— Fast, athletic SS, with great BTB. Word got out the team thinks quite highly of him. Needs to get stronger. 10. Y. Rodriguez— Recent IFA signing out of the DR. Reports I’ve read have me excited with his hit/power combination. Organization can use more power bats, 11. Uribe 12. Brown— Might have him ranked too low, but the swing-change gives me pause. 13. Small 14. Zamora— Bat is starting to play again after his missed most of last year. Would have him ranked higher if he could eliminate his throwing yips completely. Seems to be doing better with that so far in the early going. 15. Jarvis— Improved command has him looking like a future backend starter. 16. Moore 17. Cornielle— Deceptive FB plays for me. 18. Andrews— 94/95 with his arm slot makes it an unusual look for the hitter. Nice SL, nice CH gives him 3 pitches out of the pen. LH helps as well. 19. Wood 20. Campbell— He’s hit everywhere he’s been including Biloxi his current stop. Tremendous top 10 with the top 6 eventual top 100 prospects.
  11. This pretty much eliminates injury as the reason for Lauer’s decreased velo and leaves his mechanics as the culprit. If Lauer can’t tick-up, and improve his command, he should stay far away from this team’s rotation. Hopefully that won’t be the case.
  12. Agree, and would only get off course if there are more major injuries. With no more major injuries this team will strengthen month after month thru getting the injured back and further development from their rookies and prospects down below. Hiura, Urias, Frelick, Woodruff, Small, Andrews, Thompson, Uribe should all improve the roster heading into September and maybe we can get Ashby back by playoff time.
  13. Not sure I would agree that Burnes is rounding into form. His command is terrible, even if his stuff isn’t, and good hitting teams will and have taken advantage of his poor command. Agree with the rest of the article and am very much looking forward to getting Urias, Frelick and Woodruff healthy and back playing baseball again. Provided no more major injuries occur I like the second-half season potential of this team.
  14. Freddy Zamora with 3 hits including a 2B & a HR, his 5th on the year. OPS at .935 now. After missing almost all of last year due to injury, he’s come back this year with a vengeance. This organization can use another SS prospect, especially one with some pop in the bat. Love to see this.
  15. Absolutely agree. This team can develop pitching, but they also can scout it out. And it’s that combination that will sustain their pitching excellence for years to come. CRod’s trajectory is eventual top 10 pitching prospect & will be joined by Misiorowski. Gasser has K-stuff and needs more time to work on his command/release-point, but he’s an eventual mid-rotation arm. Ethan Small lost his release-point for over a year and thanks to creative work by this teams PDS, seems to have it back. Time will tell, but I’m not giving-up hope on him starting again — some day and armed with an improved SL he could be a dynamic pitcher with his deception and whiff ability. Lots of nice young arms, especially of the international realm, even more specifically, Nicaraguan, that could impact in 4-5 years. Peralta, Ashby, Gasser, CRod, Misiorowski, Small will make for a nice post-Woodruff/Burnes rotation. With Williams, Uribe, Andrews, Strz, Chirino, Thompson & co. making for a dynamic bullpen.
  16. Any word on Uribe’s injury?
  17. There is plenty of bullpen help when it’s needed. Trevor Megill has probably the most experience and is closing-out games for Nashville. His velo has ticked-up to 99 and he’s throwing strikes. Ethan Small seems to have figured-out a consistent release-point and is back to strike-throwing with plenty of whiffs. Clayton Andrews has the stuff and poise and being LH can help balance-out the pen when he gets the call. Miller and Cousins have already been shuttled but just don’t give out much confidence pitching anything close to high-leverage. Darrell Thompson was recently promoted to Nashville after dominating AA hitters the first month of the season. Also LH and if he continues to perform anything close to his 1st 5 weeks could also be in the mix at some point moving forward. JB Bukauskas also is pitching big innings for Nashville and has big-league experience so he could also be a shuttle option at some point.
  18. Andrews back to throwing strikes is nice to see
  19. Because of his huge change in the box eliminating his leg-kick and toe-tap and fast diminishing K-rate of the last 2 weeks — after his 2 K-less PA’s in tonight’s game so far, he’s now at less than 18% in his last 14+ games, so let’s see if he can keep it below 20% over the next couple weeks and if so I think things will be different when he’s called-up.
  20. Hopefully it’s nothing too serious. This is definitely a set-back and hurts his opportunity to pitch for MKE this season. Poop.
  21. Now if we can just get Ashby healthy and doing a better job of finishing-off hitters, along with Gasser improving his command, we could have quite the foursome with FF. And Small consistently throwing strikes along with improving his SL so he can join the foursome in the rotation.
  22. I think we might have ourselves a nice post-Burnes/Woodruff rotation arm. Huge for the future of this team.
  23. Black’s power is moving him into untouchable territory as a prospect. This is huge for the future of the team. Power is the one area with the positional aspect of the farm that can use strengthening, so adding a power bat to Chourio & Wiemer gives more balance to the ‘25/‘26 lineup.
  24. Time. He’s only 23 years old and will need to see and face big-league pitching over an extended period of time before he eventually figures it out in the box. This is what he did in the minors. Started slow and with more reps, improved. Then once he’s figures it out in the box, the power will come — later, probably once he’s in his prime ages of 25 or 26. Brice Turang will be a fantastic player. The type of player a championship team has playing their middle-infield.
  25. Early carries risk, but with the floors of the aforementioned the risk is minimized. Guessing Wiemer and Quero could be easier to extend due to their lower signing bonuses, but offers should be made to all before their second pre-arby season begins, preferably before their first pre-arby season ends. This is our best chance to keep a dynamic core intact long-enough to win a WS.
