  1. Agree off the 26 to start the year but 50/50 he’s held till S2, could be brought-up 3rd week of April.
  2. With the prices of FA relief pitching this offseason I think the estimates are quite low on the aforementioned pitchers. I’m guessing 2 year deals on all 3.
  3. Chafin turned down a $6.5M player option, and with the prices for quality veteran relievers where there at, I think we’re looking at something along the lines of 2 years at $16-$20M. Don’t think the team goes there.
  4. Elvis Peguero— 16.2 IP 11H 1BB 23K His command seems to be quite good right now. Brewers have to be super happy with his performance.
  5. I’m beginning to think they ride all 3 for the draft-picks. The team should contend all season-long for a playoff spot, so forget this trade-deadline. Then how are they going to trade-off any of them in another go for it year? The time to trade one (Burnes) would have been now, but since Arnold publicly took them off the market, that time seems to have past. I think the team has even more confidence in their pitching development system than I do and they believe they can develop Gasser and a couple of Small, Wagoner, Rodriguez, Cruz, Cornielle, Henderson, Misiorowski, Jarvis, Casteneda, and Smith into rotation arms by OD ‘25. Turang should take over for Adames, with Brown/Moore at 2B, Black at 1B, and Chourio & Quero knocking at the big-league door as well.
  6. The new FA deals for SS’s & frontline starters has completely eliminated any chance of extension’s of our big 3, if we’re being real. In my perfect baseball world I would have wanted Burnes traded this offseason, Adames extended and Woodruff held for the draft-pick. That would have allowed the team to contend in ‘23 &’24 with Woodruff and Adames and given us at least 1, but possibly 2 big-armed SP prospects that could have helped replace Burnes/Woodruff by ‘25. With the team publically taking the 3 off the market, either they didn’t like the returns (likely, the way teams are now hoarding their best prospects) or Attanasio doesn’t want the potential fan blow-back and lack of ticket-sale ramifications, maybe both?. If the team flounders, they can trade-off 1 or more of the big 3 at the trade-deadline (when the desire to deal by some increases) if not, they might have to ride them for the draft-picks.
  7. Agree with your take. After the Yelich trade and 2018 trade-deadline, the farm was devoid of positional prospect talent and because of the team in contention mode could only be built-up through the draft until the Hader trade. Thanks to Johnson & co and Groopman & co, they have procured an amazing amount of positional talent in a short amount of time and now have a top 5 positional farm system. This team has zero chance to compete moving forward without a consistently strong farm. Stearns and Arnold know this and have been hoarding since 2018. With the strong & rebuilt infrastructure in place and able to consistently procure well above average yearly classes this team is in good shape moving forward, provided they continue to hoard their best prospects and not trade them-off. The ‘22 pitching injuries & regression should be a awake-up call to those that want to trade-off prospect talent to buttress the Burnes/Woodruff supposed “window”. A repeat of either and this organization will be set-back for years. We are still a couple of quality classes from being able to trade-off some of our best prospects. Patience is necessary and will be rewarded.
  8. Cohen up to $333M for ‘23. Over/under OD payroll of $370M?
  9. I think when BA comes out with their new rankings in January, we see MKE inside the top 10. Maybe as high as 8. Lack of upper minors big-armed starters is keeping this farm from a top 5 ranking.
  10. Agree C defense matters, and they will miss Molina’s D, but I just don’t see their staff falling off a cliff and it’s because of their defense around the diamond.
  11. Not sure that’s going to happen. The Cardinals defense is incredible and helps that staff more than any catcher could or would.
  12. It’s not deep with pitching, which is where the picks come from. Positionally the farm is strong, especially at AAA. Also their best prospects are recent draft-picks & IFA signings. Their amateur talent procurement departments are every bit the equal of Cleveland’s at this time, and because of that they should have a farm system that rivals your teams in a couple of years.
  13. Absolutely. Untapped potential still there with this guy. I’ll be following his season with Nashville quite closely.
  14. Yes! Won’t be surprised at all to see Cam called-up to MKE at some point next season.
  15. Frelick is untradable. You don’t trade the best hitter in all of minor league ball. He’s also strong as heck and imo, will eventually develop 20 HR power.
  16. Frelick is #68 on Baseball America’s top 100. Probably will shoot on up the list when their new rankings come out this offseason.
  17. Brandon Drury OPS’d .955 vs LHP last season and would be a great addition to this team especially if he could be had on a 2 year contract. Agree we need a RHH catcher acquisition. I’d prefer Vasquez, but his price would likely be too high for our FO to pay, so Jansen by trade would probably work.
  18. Drafting — Yes, absolutely take the best player available with the caveat of working to get max value from the pool money. If this team wants to better-time their SP with their incredible positional talent, they need to be able to do it through a trade of Burnes and possibly Woodruff. Pitching given-up for pitching returned. Teams aren’t likely giving up big armed pitching prospects in a trade for a position player.. This is why we need to focus our Burnes return with SP prospects. The eventual Burnes trade should be to the team giving-up the best starter prospects.
  19. This team, organizationally, is set-up to win far into the future, thanks to the teams re-built infrastructure, and skill level of the FO. Think Cleveland Guardians, the team I believe we are mimicking. We have the high-end positional athletes ready to roster this year, just like Cleveland of the last year and a half. Pitching-wise we are behind them, but only because we don’t have the upper-minors starting pitching they have, but that will change pretty quickly with the trades of Burnes and or Woodruff and or Lauer. Big bullpen disparity as well, but that can change in a hurry, especially with some of the arms being accumulated by Arnold. Cleveland’s future is set, with having the young, talented big-league team AND at the same time a monster farm system. Once ownership starts to augment their team with a payroll— look-out. We are a year, maybe 2, behind Cleveland, but I like the high-end positional talent of our OF better than any group of positionals on their team. Bottom-line — this team’s future is just as bright as Cleveland’s and we have as good of a chance to win a title as any SM team in baseball does over the next 5-10 years.
  20. Rodriguez might be the exception, being the consensus best starter prospect in the game, but outside of Baltimore, multiple high-end starters need to come back if I’m MKE. This team has a monster positional farm system, and a nice stable of young potential 3-5 starters below AA. Misiorowski is really the only TOR potential we have and he’s 2-3 years from even touching the rotation. Getting the high-end starters we need for ‘24/‘25 will need to come from the trading of Burnes now and or both of Burnes/Woodruff next offseason. Rather get both high-end starter prospects in the trading of Burnes now so we can keep Woodruff for the draft-pick and contend in ‘23 & ‘24.
  21. A Burnes trade needs to return high-end starters. Forget the Moreno’s and Cartaya’s and focus on what this team lacks organizationally — big-armed SP prospects in the upper minors. First team that headlines with 2 big-armed starters wins Burnes.
  22. I see Frelick in CF OD as well. 70 hit-tool prospects are rare and need to play right away. I’m expecting a Frelick extension sooner than later, so the extra year won’t matter, so go for the draft-pick. Wiemer can replace Mitchell in RF sometime after the 3rd week of April, with Mitchell taking over CF and Frelick to LF with Yelich to DH. This OF is so fast and athletic it’s ridiculous. Boatloads of runs will be saved for this pitching-staff.
  23. Fingers crossed. I suppose the team went with the percentages. But this guy can easily stay on a teams roster this year.
  24. Right, was just going to say that. As time goes on just try to hide him as a 5th OF/DH. I think that could start as early as this season due to the teams otherworldly OF talent. To expect Yelich to improve over what he did last year just isn’t realistic based on the last 2.33 years worth of data. Maybe he can surprise, but I’m not counting on it. Based on age-regression performance it could get ugly at age 34/35 and if so he probably should be released at that point. Just look at it as a lesson learned (Attanasio). This is why the team should not sign ANYONE to a long-term extension through a majority of their non-prime performance years.
