  1. Bring up the Shuckers offense? they've had some success earlier in the year, more than most MLB teams at least
  2. I think there's a long stretch of games without a day off, and coming to playoffs, Counsell is being very wary of bullpen usage. Specifically of late we've seen much more management of Joel Payamps and Elvis Peguero, and having shown signs of wear and tear the rest hopefully helps the team at this juncture. May use Wilson depending on how the game looks in 5th or 6th inning for multiple innings, that's a good shout. He'll maybe want him to cover for Houser as well though who is unlikely to go more than five innings tomorrow
  3. SO first up, Garrett is a lefty, so expecting Monasterio and Donaldson on the infield again His Fastball and changeup have been really good this season, but his breaking stuff has been sub par He has over performed this year, with an xBA of .276 and xSlg of .440, a 45.7% hard hit rate and xWOBA of .409. That's not good The slider has been well located and thus effective, but everything else seems wild, with a lot of center cut sinkers in there. He doesn't give up a ton of extra base hits on the sinker, but consistent quality contact can hurt him. Potential to break out the bats tonight, and may need it if they're expecting 6ish innings between Megill and Rea tonight
  4. It's probably something to do with feeling confident in Megill against lower half of the Marlins order, hence being able to face them a third time but Arraez, Bell, Chisholm etc just the two times, hence getting more out of him. Best guess!
  5. Yeah first time seeing him live, the heater is impressing me the most, clearly getting a ton of rise because it's not exactly overpowering, but when he kept it up, they just couldn't connect
  6. Good lord Henderson has swing and miss stuff
  7. That's unlucky. A great take from second man up in a 3-2 count, almost a strike em out throw em out DP
  8. Jack Stern is BCN, I think with David Gasper Could do current host of locked on Brewers (though that's changed annually of late) along with perhaps announcers like Vinny rotino and the Dom Cotroneo who both started on the podcast The barrel mke podcast Also there's a ukbrewcrew page on twitter that has a decent ISH following, would probably be a good target
  9. If that's the case, he matches up brilliantly with the Brewers. High walk rates suggest a lack of control, and when people chase they struggle against him. If not, you'll get a lot on base (he's 2nd percentile walk rate this season with a 15.3% rate) Just coming back from the IL, he'll not be in too long I imagine, and the rustiness could be to his detriment.
  10. Hasn't gone multiple innings since the first game in August, wouldn't expect more than two out of him. What we have here is an excellent ground ball merchant, and I think he'll likely thrive against the Brewers contact oriented hitters. Who knows what comes next, but this is a taxed bullpen with more September innings than any team in MLB, something hopefully the Brewers can take advantage of
  11. Adames has seven hits in September. Six have been for extra bases
  12. Ouch, realistically both could have reach had Adames walked. A double play to score a run, two singles and 3-0 up. A bit of an odd zone so far but may be handy for Woodruff if he exploits it like Burnes did yesterday
  13. That makes sense though, if he's performing well you give higher leverage, if struggling less high leverage. Like Payamps and Peguero at the start of the season, they earned their current roles Could strzelecki have done as well if not better? Probably. He did hang one pitch last night but he pitched well for the most part, just punished for his one mistake, it happens. For my eye, he's pitching better, but we'll see how the season finishes. Counsell is using him appropriately for now for sure.
  14. Doesn't this provide a fairly good argument that he's right? It's a stat entirely related to how important a situation he's used in, and it's alongside bryse Wilson who often gets middle innings
  15. I think you're entirely right about the outfield cover, more than enough there to get through things I think he has a NTC so he could actually settle with the family in MKE, otherwise I'm sure they'd consider it He's actually gotten better as the year went on until August when he slumped hard, and I'm just really questioning why, with their experience of it last season, they didn't immediately sit him down
  16. I almost expect him straight into the lineup, Counsell usually brings them in only when he's gonna use them. Though that could be a pinch hit role
  17. Im having the exact same thought. Thankfully Cy Alcantara isn't gonna be around to do damage this time, but that pitching corps demolished the brewers lineup
  18. Do you think his recent run of form is centered around the injury? It would explain why his exit velo's have dropped so much, but it begs the question why would the Brewers ask him to play through it when this is the clear end result? Or is he just always battling it?
  19. I'd agree with you, but the Rockies away can be tricky... I don't think it'll be sweep central but the brewers will want to be winning these upcoming series. Marlins have been on a hot stretch but a lot of it seems unsustainable as their offense isn't this good, but their pitching has crumbled. I think the Brewers match up really well. As for the Cards... let's hope Adam Wainwright pitches one of those days
  20. My apologies! In the length of the article I've missed that, thanks! Four game series it is, and a cracking one it'll be, so many series with so many playoff implications. I think it's a match up the Brewers would really like come October but they've always been pesky
  21. I agree... it's most likely an insurance policy if Monasterio goes down, and Black isn't ready. It makes sense but in the crucible of a playoff race, Monasterio is performing better. And to be fair, the stereo has an .800 OPS in September, he's performing.
  22. A couple of thoughts.. He's injured but asked not to be put on IL as it'll hurt him more in the contract stuff next season (though I figure this is unlikely as 3 weeks of no game time looks worse arguably) His bat has looked way out of sorts even in BP and it's just going not going to play, hence he's a liability, but better than using a 40 man to call up Black if Monasterio got injured. The Brewers like to hog assets as much as possible, so this is most likely the scenario
  23. Especially against a player almost his equal in many respects in Junior Caminero
  24. I think Counsell said this wasn't in their immediate plans? So maybe more like next week, he looked better Friday and Saturday but they'll want a few more consistent examples of power before he comes I think. That being said, I can't argue with you it makes sense
