  1. I didn't know I needed glasses. I got them last August. I hit 70 points better in Fall league than in Spring and my defense improved. It's amazing how good the world looks when you first wear glasses.
  2. Somebody needs to remind Dusty that you can't win with young pitchers. He better go to the front office and demand that the Reds trade Cueto to Oakland for Joe Blanton. I bet if they added a nugget they could net an experienced NLCS MVP from somewhere in the Midwest. I would send Melvin flowers for that one.
  3. I hope we silence him early and often though, lets welcome him to MLB the right way by putting up a snowman in the first inning. Why be so pessimistic? I remember when we closed County and Openned Miller. We semed to be developing a rivalry with the Reds. It looks like we may rekindle those feelings, but with a pennant chase included. I look forward to battling with the Reds. I won't feel such a stab to the heart if we loose the division to Cinncy.
  4. My favorite was his responce to the trade for Carlos Lee. Something along the lines of "Well, it will be really good to finally have someone hitting behind me for protection." I love being at all of his games. Not only does he deal and make the other team look silly, he doesn't waste time. He just gets the ball and smokes it right back.
  5. I agreee with Rillo. His situation is much different than Lee. Lee took a deal that was more than twice what we offered. We also traded Lee away. CoCo took an offer only 2M? more than ours and didn't ask us to match or beat it. Lee also isn't only used for when the Astros our ahead of us. I plan on booing him like any good opponent. I prefer not to give him a reason to come into the game.
  6. After the 2005 season I asked to move from the second row to the first. The agent said they would keep an eye open for them. I never heard back about it. After the 2006 season I again requested to move to the first row. Again I was told I would be called if any opened up. In February of 2007 I called the general ticket number and gave the impression I was a new full season ticket holder looking for the first row. It took him all of 10 minutes to call back with seats in the first row. He told me I could be garanteed the seats if I paid for them right then. When I mentioned I was already a ticket holder and had paid months ago, he began to hem and haw. Only two weeks later did they finally call me back to say that they would give me those seats. That is the sort of love they give bleacher ticket holders who retain their tickets through those horrible years.
  7. The Brewers don't even get the entire $8. The parkers get a cut of that. Tailgators that don't buy tickets are not a big concern for the Brewers (especially seeing how they treat ticket holders). But I do agree that I'd rather see them stay outside than bother me in the park.
  8. How about Fielder throwing the ball into the back of a runner? I believe it was called a SB and not an error by the scorer at MP. So it will count against Kendall's CS stat even though he didn't catch the ball and Parra picked the runner off. If Fielder does make the throw it goes down as a CS and help's Kendall's stats.
  9. But it is only a B-contract from the Brewers side. To FSN it must be an A contract. They are vastly underpaying to broadcast a team that is on the rise and gaining fans. I don't see any reason for them to botch the broadcasts this bad. They must understand they will have to renew the one sided contract at one point. The local stations (ABC, CBS, NBC) can take over the broadcasts. Or WMLW, since they already broadcast some games. Heck, I really don't care, let the Oxygen network take it if they want. Just deliver a good production. Modern "Baseball Broadcast Theory" says close up shots of the crowd elicit more emotion from the viewers at home. I think the director is overdoing it a lot.
  10. On another note, I'd be interested to know what some season ticket holders do with their tickets. I have every intention of going to almost every game. But the row in front of me has been empty both games so far. I assume these are season ticket holder b/c otherwise I would have been able to get my tickets a row closer, right? A lot of "season tickets" are bought by ticket brokers. They sell the tickets on various websites for a good chunk of profit. They can afford to not sell some tickets since they are making such a profit on the ones they do sell (see opening day and Cubs games). I agree that the ticket office seems to not care that I've been a full season ticket holder since 02 (and was a 20 game the year before) since I "only pay for the bleachers and not the more expensive seats". The only concession I got was finally this year my tickets are less than a new season ticket member.
  11. Weeks just tied the all-time record for consecutive games scoring a run, with 16, tying Molitor. According to Wikipedia, two players (Red Rolfe and Kenny Lofton) had 18 game streaks. The second inning has definately killed my happy mood.
  12. I also don't like the DH. It creates an unbalance between the leagues. I don't mind the leagues being different, but that creates a radical change that draws power hitting/bad fielding players away from one of the leagues. Any wonder why the AL is the league right now? I don't see why all stadiums have to have retractable roofs. Rain outs also cause double headers, which the owners have tried to do away with. I love that baseball stadiums are unique. I think it's kind of cool that Houston has such a unique park. I wish more teams did that (just not the objects in the field of play, the odd angles and small hill way way out there) There is no way the players union agrees to all of the changes in the first post. Besides loosing the 14 DH jobs, they would loose tons of respect from the ladies. Moving the power allies and foul lines to 400 feet would take away tons of home runs. Players get paid for home runs. I still don't think the home field advantage for the WS is bad. It's better than it used to be. I would make a hard salary cap and floor. It would float based on revenue just like the NFL does it.
  13. So says a NSBB fan (2nd responce) "It's like I said, the only reason the Brewers were able to beat us today is because they're a better team."
  14. Here is the difference between football stat guys and baseball stat guys. Football stat guys usually end up with stats that agree with the non stat guys. There might be disagrements of a small degree (ie who was better Marino/Elway) but rarely do I see a football stat say a guy is bad when everyone thinks he's good. The same is not true in baseball. There are players that some think are good, like Eckstein, Glaus, and Piere. The stat guys say they are not good players. This causes the rift. I bet if football stat guys came out and said Farve, Manning, and Ray Lewis were not good players and were worse than league average, there would be as big as rift over there as there is in baseball. Another difference is the quickness to change. When one football team figures out something that works, usually there are 31 other teams that have incorporated it within a year. When one team figures out something in baseball (ie OBP is better than AVG for evaluating talent), there are years after a book is written about it there are still teams, announcers, and fans that don't believe it.
  15. I think teams are going to have to start feeding more strikes to The Prince to stay away from Bruantasaurus.
  16. 2 Right handed batters to follow? I think there's 8 right handed batters to follow Prince.
  17. And the number of HR's you hit helps decides the Gold Glove. Notice this post is not in blue. I wish it was.
  18. I still say it was a bad move to take Bill Hill off the mound and turn him into a DH. He's much more valuable as a pitcher. We should have moved Richie Months to DH.
  19. 1) I take Gagné hands down. His money will keep him longer than normal if he fails. I don't think Wood will lose his job because of injury (which he'll have) but because he'll be outpitched and ¿Marmol? will take over. 2) He'll be fine. 3) I always thought Sheets had better stuff, but even with his current injury I'll take the health of Gallardo.
  20. A sac bunt is a very intentional out that then does not count against you. A sac fly is a guy trying to go for a HR/gapper who knows if he fails it sill records a run. I freely admit I'm a Gwynn hater. I consider him a 4th OF at best, even in the coming years. I only jump on him to counter those that think he is the starting CF/lead off hitter of the future. With Cameron out for 25 games, I consider the choice of Gwynn/Gross to be a coin flip. Gross has more value as a 3TO-ish guy while Gwynn has speed and defense. It's mostly a coin flip because the guy that does not start can be inserted into the exact situation that calls for his talent. I'm just annoyed that Kendall gets bumped to 9th while Gwynn is put 2nd.
  21. I think ESPN2 was using ending velocity.
  22. I'll take the under. I have them pegged at 81-81, .500. So they come out to .460 on the road, or 37.
  23. You must be on the 40 man roster in order to play in the Majors. After 3 pro seasons, players must either be placed on the 40-man roster or be subject to the Rule 5 trade. Any year a player is on the 40 man roster and plays in the minors an option is used, and each player only has 3 options. Long story short, players that were drafted before 2004 that are not on the 40 man roster can be taken by another team. That's how I understand it. There are more rules, but basically anyone on the 40 man roster is safe to the Brewers. The other players who were drafted before 2004 are put on the waiver line.
  24. There was a Lego brick recreation of Miller Park inside the Miller Park Fan Zone a number of years ago.
