  1. Self checkout is wonderful. Unless you happen to get there when there's 3 people who have no idea how to use it. sigh. Also, sometimes, I wish it were socially acceptable for me to ram my cart into other people's who just leave them blocking entire aisles without care or consideration of others.
  2. I was there as well, sat in the Buckethead section, and sang Carlos Lee happy birthday.
  3. I'd be there... but I'm going to be in Madison, visiting family that weekend http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif Have fun guys!
  4. Cam should be in the two-hole, imo, Hardy hitting 6th behind Hart. 7th is 3b, 8th Kendall.
  5. A few reasons. Steroids meant more money generated, meant more money for the union. Steroids can help prevent, and hurry recovery from injuries. HGH may not be a PED, but its much more for those types of things. Also, any form of drug testing puts MLB on a slippery slope of testing for other drugs (Greenies, cocaine, vicadin... whatever it may be)
  6. I was still hoping for a CC bobble, I knew it wouldn't happen... but oh well. I'm surprised at no Cameron, I mean, "Untuck 'em" was sort of the team's signature last year, and he brought that in.
  7. Someone (I forget who) had a clause where they got a bonus if they received even 1 vote for MVP or CY Young, and a big stink was made. I believe that's what you're referring to. I can't imagine voters not voting for a guy who has a clause in for winning.
  8. MLB Press Release I'm excited. A bit shocked, but I always loved Costas doing baseball.
  9. Binary, hexidecimal and decimal are all different ways of displaying numbers. 11 in binary means three. 11 in hexidecimal means seventeen 11 in decimal means eleven. 1 hexidecimal number is 4 binary numbers (as it represents 0 to 15 -- or 0 to F), so, 1111 is fifteen, which is F in hex. To convert binary to decimal: 1011 (for example) The number on the left is mutiplyed by 2 to the 0 power. (1*1) The next number is multiplyed by 2^1 (2*1) The next by 2^2 (4*0) and the last by 2^3. (8*1) Then you add them up. 8+0+2+1 = 11. For hex, its the same principal instead of using 2 to the power of, you're using 16 to the power of. Hope that made sense.
  10. You can define it how ever you want, but Hall has always been a high K guy. Before, he hit a TON of XBH's, Not many guys get 70 XBH in a season, especially SS's. Billy did that. What's left him is his power to the opposite field. Last year, it seemed as though he was trying to pull everything, instead of letting his raw power take that outside pitch to right center (like he did the last game of the regular season).
  11. Hope you got rid of them! If I'd have seen this sooner I would've been all over it... but I'm stuck in Milwaukee!
  12. They guaranteed him 10.5 million next year, even if he falls down an open elevator shaft and can't play. He wasn't going to make much more than that regardless. What's the point of giving him that guarantee?
  13. If you're really worried about viruses on a PC, you need to do 4 things: 1) Stop using internet explorer and setup a firewall 2) Download AVG 3) Stop downloading those e-mail attachments from Stacy the Buxom Babe and 4) Stop going to those websites late at night I've had my computer for 6 years, and never had a virus on it, and have used it constantly to browse online, take school classes, for my job, etc. Let your school decide what you need, and don't be the guy who leaves his sound on to play World of Warcraft in class.
  14. Exactly his problem. He still hits his location but without the mid 90's stuff, he needs to become a finesse type pitcher to get guys out. Its something he's been too stubborn to do.
  15. Can you explain that further, Peavey? I hear & read all the time about how the Yankees may go after Sheets and/or Manny, and how the Brewers would only get a 4th round pick if Sheets went to the Yankees. Are they unable to sign him? Or do they forfeit something else?
  16. I really hope they don't move Escobar, if he's as good as people say he is with the glove.
  17. Try this: Reboot, and when you do, hit F8 on your keyboard... This should give you the option to boot up in Safe Mode (assuming windows xp here) Try running avg once you boot in safe mode.
  18. http://www.tangotiger.net/strikeout.html Most people (at least, to me) think of a guy who strikes out a lot, as the old RF on their little league team who couldn't hit the ball if his life depended on it. The difference is, by the time you get to MLB, those players who brought no offensive value along with their high-strikeouts have been weeded out in the minor leagues.
  19. Its this Yankee fan perpetuated myth that their early teams were all "young and homegrown" Yankees. Look at the roster for the 1996 team, for example: C Joe Girardi 1B Tino Martinez 2B Mariano Duncan 3B Wade Boggs SS Derek Jeter LF Gerald Williams CF Bernie Williams RF Paul O'Neill DH Ruben Sierra Jim Leyritz Darryl Strawberry Tim Raines Cecil Fielder ---------------------- SP Andy Pettitte SP Jimmy Key SP Kenny Rogers SP Dwight Gooden SP David Cone SP Ramiro Mendoza SP Scott Kamieniecki CL John Wetteland RP Jeff Nelson RP Mariano Rivera RP Bob Wickman RP Dale Polley The team was barely 1/3 (if that) home grown talent. Are they hurting themselves? No, right now they are still 40 million under last years payroll. Well within their operating costs, especially considering the huge revenue bump that the new stadium will give them.
  20. Joe Posnanski's book about his summer with Buck O'Neil, is great.... http://www.soulofbaseball.com/
  21. Rickey and Raines should be locks. Just because Raines happened to play during the time of the greatest leadoff hitter ever shouldn't penalize him, he's probably the 2nd best since WWII. As should Blyleven. I don't see how they aren't in. I'd put McGwire in as well. Alan Trammell and Tommy John are my maybe's.... Definite No's from me: Jim Rice (If you vote for him, how can you not vote for Dave Parker?), Jack Morris
  22. His value in general. Its much easier to find a 3b who hits .280 and 25 HRs and OBP's .330 than it is to find a SS who does that. Corey Koskie was doing that before he got hurt.
  23. Its odd, Joe Posnanski just wrote an article on this.... http://joeposnanski.com/J...2008/11/17/moose-hunting/ I'm sort of torn on the issue, personally. I think he'll get in, and I won't be upset if he does.
  24. Did you see the two terrible, I mean horribly awful plays he made against the Cubs this year? Oh yeah, he's not Mike Cameron so no one remembers those. He's not ready to play CF, he has major problems getting a jump on the ball and reading balls hit right at him.
