There's the Carlos Lee I remember.

No kidding. The only thing that would have been more fitting is a bloop out to second.

Some of the same people who critique Vargas' 0 runs given up and label it as a 'bad' outing will be the same people who will defend our 'ace' Sheets when he gives up 6 runs

Remember Sheets' complete game shutout on opening day? While many thought he was absolutely dominant, I and others pointed out that there was probably a little luck involved as well. Sheets put a lot of balls in play and had few strikeouts. It might be easy to ignore that and just be happy about the zero earned runs but some like to look at thinks more deeply.

Is it impossible for you to appreciate that some try to stay objective in their observations no matter who the player is? I know you wouldn't bother trying but it's possible, really!

I am glad we won, but I hope FSN burns the video of that game. It was just ugly in every aspect. That was an instant "non-classic".

don't get me wrong, i'm very happy we won, but we were lucky to win that one.

it's amazing they only scored 1 run off of that pitching today.

For some reason, it's still not registering in my mind that we won. I still feel defeated to some extent.

That game was just torture to watch.

Didn't see the game, but this thread is very amusing: posters trying to one-up each other over who is more objective? Hilarious! And the resident hipster being just so hip? There's something about baseball that inspires increased testosterone or something similar.

BTW, didn't we win?

I'm looking forward to a nice long homestand against three very beatable teams. It'll be interesting to see what kind of condition the Cards are in, and the Pirates and Nationals are both sweepable series at MP.

The surest way for the crew to lose is for people to post how favorable the pitching matchups are, or how beatable the other teams are.

I believe that we are 9-5 in our Central Division run. I think that this is going about as well as we could have hoped.

Man 15-9 first place 3.5 game lead. Its early but its still very nice. Got lucky today, but sometimes you have to be lucky and good. Hopefully Rickie and Billy with days off can really get their bats going on this homestand.
